25th Wedding Anniversary

A few hilarious gift ideas you could get for a couple on their 25th wedding anniversary are clothing custom-made with humorous phrases, a picture album filled with funny memories, a gift basket stuffed with unique things, or maybe you could come up with an anniversary-related joke.

You can make a 25th anniversary even more unforgettable simply by going out of the traditional 25th wedding anniversary gift ideas for parents. Think about giving humorous gifts which will display your fun-loving and creative side , and they are more memorable than the expected gift item or card. The following are some amazing gift item ideas you can consider:

Apparel customized with humorous statements

There are numerous apparel boutiques that permit you to modify your own print. Just a few varieties of apparel you can get for the honoring pair include a couple of shirts, baseball caps or aprons. Decide what you wish to print on the items. One comical idea, for example, would be a t-shirt that says “Property of my wife since 1990″ for the man to put on and a matching “Owned my hubby since 1990″ for the wife. You could try checking the web for hilarious sayings about twenty-fifth anniversaries, marriage, husbands, wives or even growing older.

A picture album stuffed with hilarious memories

If you like, you can incorporate the silver motif into your gift by buying a silver-decorated picture album. Maintain the mood light and funny by compiling only humorous images in the album. Ask the couple’s children, relatives and buddies to help you look for photographs from throughout the married couple’s long years together and even go back to once they were unmarried or younger. Possible pictures you can include show them dressed in Halloween outfits or even having a terrible hair day. You can even include a few photos of them looking loving and happy just so the gift still carries the romance of the special occasion.

A basket full of distinctive goods

Other than giving a traditional gift package filled with fruits, candies or nut products, load the basket with extra extraordinary stuff and create a theme around them. For instance, you could give the couple a basket you dub a “marriage survival kit.” Put a book about relationships and marriage into the gift basket and tag it an informative manual. Include a whistle with a message that says “for crying foul when you argue,” band aids with a brief description that states “for mending heartaches” along with other stuff you consider appropriate for the concept. One other gift basket variation would be a “sexy” gift basket loaded with eatable lotions, a bottle of champagne and naughty games or perhaps toys.

Plan an anniversary-related joke

You can go overboard with an anniversary present simply by pulling a prank that is related to the occasion. For instance, delight them by rolling twenty-five golf balls branded with their names as well as faces all around their family room floor. If you want, you may also come up with funny anniversary quotes on each of the balls. One other comical prank would be to send the married couple a genuine-looking document announcing that a mistake had been realized on their marriage license therefore their union is considered void. Thirty minutes later, you and the couple’s good friends can come to reveal the joke donning as clergy and ready to watch and “officiate” a 2nd wedding.

Although funny anniversary gifts may be more unforgettable than traditional ones, remember that not all people may share your sense of humor.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
25th Wedding Anniversary. How do you word a letter asking for gifts towards paying for a honeymoon?
My mum and dad never had a honeymoon for their wedding so now they are having their 25th anniversary party. They want to ask for funds towards a honeymoon as a gift from everyone but how do you word that without sounding rude for asking?

    • ANSWER:
I don’t think this is rude at all – it’s more and more common to request for money in lieu of gifts.

I’d go for something like this (it may be nice to send from the children too).

”Our parents/We are celebrating 25 years of happy marriage and we would like to invite you to share this celrebation with us.

      (add details of the party)

Though we don’t expect gifts, we kindly ask that anybody who wanted to give a gift to my parents/us instead donate towards us sending them off on/arranging a long-awaited honeymoon’ given they/we never managed to do this 25 years ago!”

If you tell the guests why this money is wanted it should not cause any upset – it’s a beautiful gesture to help your folks enjoy a break together. Memories are worth so much more than gifts – so people will know their money is being well enjoyed :-)

  2. QUESTION:

  3. QUESTION:
Renewing vows on your 25th wedding anniversary?
I am planning a surprise 25th wedding anniversary for my parents. Do people usually renew there wedding vows on there 25th anniversary in front of about 50-100 people? or is that something that they would do on there own?

    • ANSWER:
Hi. How nice of you! Yes, plan the surprise party….but leave the renewing of the wedding vows for them to decide. I am a private person and my husband and I DID renew our vows for our 25th, but it was in private with only our grown children present….not in front of 50-100 people.

Now, however, you know your parents….not us. If you think they would like to do this, then you can go ahead with it. But if it was me, I would just plan the party.

Good luck and have fun with your planning!

  13. QUESTION:
how do i incorporate a 50th Birthday celebration in with a 25th wedding anniversary and pull it off seamlessly?
I am putting together a 50th birthday party for my mother, while at the same time throwing my parents a 25th wedding anniversary because these events happen within two weeks of each other. How do i seam together a fun blowout with the seriousness of the anniversary?

    • ANSWER:
An anniversary party doesn’t need to be serious. You are celebrating 25 years, and celebrating 50 years for mom. For the decorations you can seam together “50″ and “25″. Have large number 50′s and number 25′s. You can make it “50 years to celebrate” and “25 years together”. Have pictures from their 25 years together, and before those 25 years, have pictures of mom from baby to 25 years old. As a many event create a slide show. Have it start out with mom from baby to 25, then with the time line, have dad introduced into the slide show and show the next 25 years with both of them. You can create two smaller cakes, or half and half. One side or one cake for the 50 years and one side, or cake, for the 25 years.

I am organizing a party on the 25th wedding anniversary of my parents. kindly suggest a name for the event which i can use on invitations.

  16. QUESTION:
My parents’ 25th wedding anniversary vs my college graduation?
My parents will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary less than a month after I graduate from college. We were planning a backyard graduation party for me, but were thinking about combining it with their anniversary celebration since all the family will already be in town.

I am excited to plan their anniversary party, but I’m not sure how to also incorporate my graduation. I don’t want to have my school colors at one end of the party and elegant silver at the other.

How can we sucessfully combine both parties?

    • ANSWER:
I’m not sure how to combine each color-wise, but I DO think that you all have a great idea to combine those celebrations, and it will be more fun, because there will be more to talk about and celebrate and more chance that more people will come. What a great idea.

Maybe also get some photos of your parents when they were in high school and any awards that they won to add to the interest of your own high school days and how things have changed. You could have their yearbooks and your yearbooks all there together and make some posters with a lot of photos and then show how they met and how they / where they got married. Maybe they have some old hs term papers that they wrote that you could copy and put on a poster and then put your hs term papers on there if there is something interesting. You could get some photos of you growing up and also get some photos of parents as babies and small children. Just make a lot of fun displays about comparing parents days to your own hs experience. With a lot of photos and memorabilia such as artwork , poetry assignments, etc,, it will give your guests a lot to see and talk about and make everything come together.

That’s such a great idea to combine those celebrations. Good luck.

I need some good ideas for planning a 25th wedding anniversary party!?
This upcoming April will be the 25th wedding anniversary of my parents, and I wish to plan a classy surprise party for the both of them. I need some ideas on themes that will be fun, but still remain fairly sophisticated. I am planning on inviting many of their friends, for I feel that it would make the occasion more meaningful to them. Anyone have any ideas on where I should start!?

    • ANSWER:
First think about what sort of party your parents would enjoy – a large surprise party or an intimte get together at their favorite restaurant.

Next put together the guest list so that you can find a venue for the numbers.

Then find the venue and book the date.

Now think about the theme – silver, 25 years, or 1980s would all work. Use your theme for the invitations and the decorations. Decorations could be photos from the past 25 years you could make them into a banner for round the room.

Send out your invitations in plenty of time as some guests may need to book accommodation.

  29. QUESTION:
What is a good way to celebrate a 25th wedding anniversary camping?
We go camping every year–big family thing—about 60-70 people. One of my boyfriend’s brothers is having a 25th wedding anniversay around that time and I offered to throw a 25th party while we are there. Informal of course, but what are some ideas for food/gifts/decorations? We’re camping—so we have to keep it relatively simple/no frills. Ideas? Thoughts? He thought it was a great idea!

    • ANSWER:
25th wedding Anniversary is BIG, it’s the SILVER year! You can decorate in anything silver. If you can bring up a helium tank and get some silver and white balloons, you can decorate with them. You can get some silver and white streamers and put them around where they’re going to be. Get some round, white, paper laterns, the ones with NO light in them and hang them around the party area.

What would look really nice, if you can do it is get some clear, stringed, Christmas lights and hang them all around the party and camp area where you’re all going to be. The twinkling of the lights will add such a nice effect to the party atmosphere. Even just having them up without the balloons would look really pretty!

You can do the lights, the streamers, and then if you can, the balloons and lanterns. Bring up some white or greyish/silver paper tablecloths and then have white plates and white forks, knives, and spoons, etc. You want some things to be silver/grey. If you go to a party store or Costco you can get plastic silverware that looks like real silverware, they are silver and look metal, but they are plastic! You can bring up a box of them and it will wow everyone! If you don’t have a Costco, check Sam’s or BJ’s and if you don’t have a membership, ask someone who does if they can go and pick up a box. You can even use them your entire trip, there are hundreds of them in there, or you can put the rest of the box away for another occasion.

For food, do whatever is the couple’s favorite food. Being your going to be camping I would keep it simple. If they love bbq, do that, if they love chicken, do that. Whatever you know of their favorite food that’s doable while camping, do it! It’s their anniversary and their party, have what they like and make it about them! If they like pasta bring up a pasta dish and then reheat it there, if they like chicken cooked a certain way maybe it can be done before going to the campsite and then reheated there. Do what they like, or you can just bbq and make it fun for them. They know they’ll be camping and I’m sure they’re just going to be happy that they’re with their family and they’re going to be SO happy you’re going through all this for them, that’s going to mean SO much to them! I’m sure they’re not expecting anything and it’s just going to mean a LOT to them! They’re probably thinking they’ll just do dinner when they return home, and that they’re happy they’re with their family. You can do burgers, hot dogs, and grilled chicken with some salads, and then do some sides. Maybe another family member can do the sides and another do a pasta dish, and then rolls, etc. I would keep it simple being you won’t have access to a kitchen and cooking the way you would if you were home, and I’m sure no matter what you do, they’re going to LOVE!!

You can also do a cake for them. You can do a tiered cake and then a sheet cake so that there’s enough for everyone. You can ask someone else to do the tiered cake so you’re not doing it all. Or have it made somewhere. You can do a round cake or square with 2 layers, and then do it like a wedding cake. You can get a number 25 for the top of the cake, and then have that cake and the sheet cake which should be enough for everyone. You can even get the sheet cake at one of the warehouse stores like Costco, or Sam’s, or BJ’s and then make the main cake, or order that one too.
You can even do cupcakes if that’s easier and ask someone to help you, you can make the cake part of them and then ask someone to help decorate them when you get to the campgrounds. I’m sure the teens or older kids would LOVE to do that and it would be a great way for them to pitch in and help! You can do chocolate and vanilla cupcakes and ice them in white icing and put some silver accents on top, those little nonperils, and then pipe some designs, the kids would love doing that, let them decorate them!

For gifts, you can go and get one of those collage frames, the one that is one frame, but has lots of openings for pictures. You can put pictures of the two of them in the frames, from their wedding to now, but leave 2 spots blank, one to write Happy 25th Anniversary with the dates and then one to take a picture on their actual anniversary and put the up to date picture in the frame. They would love having something where they can see pictures of just the two of them through the years, and hang it on their wall, it’s a scrapbook of their lives in a way.

You can also get them something silver being it’s the silver anniversary, silver candlesticks, silver picture framed engraved with their names and the date, you can get them a gift card to their favorite restuarant, etc.

They’re may feel what you’re doing for them is gift enough! You’re doing a lot for them putting together this party and it’s going to cost you a lot to put it together, the little things are going to add up, the cost of the napkins, and paper goods, the food, the condiments, the decorations, if you do still want to do a gift you can either do something with the silver theme to go with the silver anniversary, or get them something that either you know they would want, or have talked about it, you can send them to a dinner cruise or dinner theater, you can get them something for their house or yard, you can get them a bottle of wine or champagne from the year they were married, etc.

I hope some of these ideas helped and that you and your boyfriend have a great trip and that the party goes great too!! I’m sure they are going to LOVE the party and anything that you do for them, it’s the thought and being you are putting so much thought into making this perfect for them, they are going to LOVE the party!!

  30. QUESTION:
What is the perfect gift for 25th Wedding Anniversary for Boss?
Hi in the coming month my boss is celebrating his 25th Marriage Anniversary. This is my first Job & first Boss. So please help me what should i gift for this couple.

    • ANSWER:
This really depends on where you live and what kind of business you’re in. if you’re in North America, you shouldn’t buy him a gift unless your job is in peril and he’s hinting that he wants a gift. If you’re in an office, everyone might chip in to get him and his wife something, but I’d feel a bit embarrassed if an employee of mine gave me an anniversary gift.

This may be different in other countries, though. In Japan you would be obligated to give him a gift, but your local department store would have a gift assistant who would know exactly what to get him.

It could be an afternoon party–if you had a few co-conspirators, they might be able to help with the location and the menu and the amusing touches to make the day fun.

  33. QUESTION:
how should i suggest to word a 25th wedding anniversary invitation?
My boyfriend and i have been together for almost 6 years now. as a result i have become close to him and his family, going on vacations together, celebrating holidays and birthdays together and such. his parents 25th wedding anniversary is coming up on september 20th and normally you would word an invitation something like “the children of so and so would like the pleasure of your company in celebration of their parents 25th wedding anniversary” or ” john and jane doe request the pleasure of your company on the month day year at the location in celebration of their parents 25th wedding anniversary” or something along those lines. however his mother would like to include me in the invitation. she doesn’t want to put like “the children and friends” she wants to use our names. but she doesn’t like the sound of “john and jane doe and jane smith” -because she wants my boyfriend and his sister and myself labeled as the hosts ya know?- so any suggestions as to how to word something like that would be appreciated.

What are some good 25th wedding anniversary gift ideas for my parents?
I don’t want something like a gift basket or regular things like that. I was thinking something along the lines of using a wedding photo and putting that into some kind of gift. What gift can I give that might incorporate my parents’ wedding photo in it? And something better than a coffee mug or t-shirt.
    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
You could put together a collage of photos from the last 25 years, incorporate headlines from the papers, pictures of album covers they loved and other pictures that are very personal to them.

You could also put this in a scrapbook with a separate page for each year.

Silver frames also are very appropriate for the 25th anniversary.

Have the wedding photo digitally enhanced and have it printed on canvas.

  40. QUESTION:
Planning a surprise 25th wedding anniversary party?
My boyfriends parents are celebrating there 25 anniversary in july and I started planning a surprise party for the 14th. I have a hall rented and have invited over 160 people so its not a small party. I have some ideas for food and decorations and were using the trad. black and silver. I planned on making the food myself but im not sure what to make thats easy to feed that many people and im not sure how much to make! Im also not sure what to use for table centerpieces? I did buy some silver heart photo clips and i took their old photos and made them all black and white and im going to use those on the tables but i sitll would like to have a main centeriece, balloons, candles im not sure!!! Any ideas??

    • ANSWER:
for centerpieces why not just use black and silvr candles with little sparkles scatterred at base? as far as food goes things like mini quiche, sandwiches with crusts removed and cut into fingers filled with stuff you can spread like chicken, mayo herbs all blended- you know the sort of thing. salads and a selection of roasted meats. trays of vegetable bakes are good too you know when you put a creammy sauce through and bake it. trays of pasta bake. cheese and dip platters meat balls-little ones with a dipping sauce. fried chicken wings or legs are good hot or cold. either crumb them or just season or marinate them. also pot dishes like chilli or casserloes. heaps of bread roles with the little butter portions- the ones the hotels have. to cut down on prep you could buy b.b.q chickens and vut them up they make a great meal with vegies or pasta salad or potato salad. past and potato salads are great coz you can vary them so well. most people load up on them rather than the green salads so you could get away with just one type of green salad. min spring roles are great. you dont even have to fry them fill them and leave them uncooked and they become rice-paper rolls. noodle salad is a great bulk dish as well. on the decoration side helium filled balloons with silver and black strings would look great. they really fill out a room. you can also use curling ribbon to put on tables. get a bunch together tie a knot around the centre of it and curl the strands individual and that gives you a nice little colour co-ordinated squiggly thing to place on tables. my description is letting the end product down! they look great at the base of candles along with a little glitter or ctar and heart foil cut outs. best wishes!!
