Best Wedding Gifts

Whether it is your best friend’s wedding, your sister who is finally walking down the aisle, or your son who has long put off marriage and has finally decided to take the plunge, finding an appropriate gift for your loved one i 00004000 s a baffling task. This task becomes more challenging when you are not as close to the wedding couple, as the aforementioned individuals. It is obvious, when even for a birthday gift we think so much, a wedding is a far more precious affair for the couple, and you would want to give them something they can remember you buy, with much appreciation. To put an end to your dilemma, here are some of the best wedding gifts to choose from, for the happy couple. Take a look.

Best Wedding Gifts to Give

More than what is in, concentrating on the needs of a couple is a great way of deciding what to give as a gift for couples. Since a wedding itself is an enormous affair (particularly financially), aiding them with things they won’t have to spend on later is a good way of deciding what to give the couple. On the other hand, it is not harmful to be thoughtful and give them something they can enjoy after all the stress of the wedding. You probably have a good idea of what is being spoken of here. Let’s take a look at what you can give to the happy couple to brighten up their life ahead.

Best Wedding Gifts that Couples Need
Let’s start with what a couple may need as a wedding gift to save them some of the financial burden of investing in those things.
aCash: Wherever you look, you probably will find cash as the first option as a wedding gift. It is one of the best wedding gifts you can give to a newly married couple, as cash is always welcome for the various needs a couple may have after the wedding. Some may save it for that dream house, or use it for that perfect honeymoon. Whatever it is, cash is perhaps the best choice as a wedding gift. To learn more about this, take a look at this piece on wedding cash gift etiquette.
aRomantic Getaway: A romantic getaway, or what we call a honeymoon, is another one of the best gifts to give to a couple. Choose it as one of the many wedding gift ideas for older couples, or as a choice of wedding gifts for parents, this is one gift that just can’t go wrong. Just ensure that the couple already doesn’t have a honeymoon planned. This holiday will then be just the thing they needed to brush off the wedding stress.
aKitchen Appliances and Accessories: This choice comes more under wedding gifts for bride, but in effect, it is something that makes a couple’s life much easier. A skillet, a griddle, an electric grill/barbecue, a food processor, cutlery in the form of stainless steel ware, crockery in the form of a set of gorgeous wine glasses or a dinner set, are all great choices as wedding gifts. Now, what a lot of people do is buy cheap quality products and give them as gifts, which are really just recycled by the couple. If you want your gift to be remembered and used, make sure that it is of a good (if not premium) quality gift in this matter. Though you may consider this to be one of the most traditional wedding gifts, they will definitely bless you, as it saves them a huge cost in buying all these things while setting up their new house.
aHome Decor Accessories: Just like the kitchen appliances, accessories for home decor are things that are definitely required by a new couple while setting up their own house. What qualifies as home decor is for you to decide. Artwork, picture frames, vases, statuettes, lamps, sofa throws and cushion covers, and even plants make for great gifts to the newly married couple. The kinds and styles you choose will definitely qualify these as some of the most unique wedding gifts the couple has received.
Some More Great Wedding Gifts
As mentioned earlier, there is a lot that a couple would like apart from what is necessary for them. Based on your relationship with either the bride or the groom, or both of them as your couple, you may decide on any of the following as one of the best wedding gifts.
aSexy Bedroom Wear: To carry forward the fun of the wedding among themselves is what every couple wants. Why not spice it up by giving them some great sexy bedroom wear. We are only talking about clothing here, and not any other tacky accessories. Again, whom you give this to is important. This may be one of the many great wedding gift ideas for sister from a sister, not from a brother (that’s just embarrassing)! So think well before you choose this gift.
aPersonalized Champagne: For those of you looking to give personalized wedding gifts can give the newly wedded couple a bottle of personalized champagne. All you have to do is buy a bottle of some great champagne, and replace the label on the bottle with one with a personalized message for the couple. If you wish to make the gift a little more grand, add in a couple of champagne glasses, with an ice bucket and create one of the best ideas for wedding gift baskets.
aCouple’s Photo Shoot: In one of the most memorable wedding gifts you can give a couple, you can organize a special photo shoot for them with a good photographer, and have them capture some beautiful memories of their lives. Shot in various locales, these photographs will be another one of the most memorable gift ideas to give as a wedding gift for the couple.
aMonogrammed Linen: One more personalized gift idea for newlyweds you are not very close to is that of monogrammed linen. Simply having initials of both, the bride and the groom embroidered on a bed sheet and pillowcases, or on a pair of towels and napkins, can make for a great personalized gift for the couple.

Now, some of you may be looking for the best wedding gifts 2010, or something that stands out as a wedding gift this year, than all other years. What you must know is that any gift, when given with great care and thought behind it, is the perfect wedding gift. With some of the guidelines mentioned above, it is easier to decide what to get for a couple, so that they remember and appreciate the thought and effort you put in getting them this gift. Good luck with choosing a wedding gift!

There is no polite or correct way to mention, suggest or say anything about gifts except to say that you would like any gifts be made to your favorite charity instead. You cannot ask for a gift under any circumstances and to try and tell guests what to bring you on an invitation is beyond tacky. You will smile and graciously accept what ever you get remembering that a guest is under NO OBLIGATION to bring any sort of gift at all.

Since many young couples don’t use silver or china very much, we were wondering what items might be good to list. — mother of the bride.

    • ANSWER:
It isn’t possible to add to the list, but one of the most useful gifts we received that we didn’t register for was from my aunt/godmother-she gave us a big box of Christmas decor: a set of holiday china, some holiday towels, a wreath, and some table linens…it was SO nice, because he and I didn’t have any decorations at all, and so to have that to help spruce up our home for our first Christmas together was so wonderful.

  20. QUESTION:
Best time to exchange wedding gifts?
Ok, my wedding is in 10 days!!!!! And now that all of the major plans are out of the way, I’m focusing in on the smaller details. One question I have is when should my new husband I and exchange wedding gifts? Some have said to find a quiet moment between ceremony and reception, and others have said to do it the night of the wedding, some say they had it given to him before the ceremony….what is the best way to do this?

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I think it’s a lovely thing after the wedding rehearsal to find a private moment, take a breath, calm each others nerves, exchange gifts and reaffirm how much you love each other.

The day of the wedding is just usually so hectic and has so many other things to focus on that I think this gets lost in the shuffle.
You know, preceremony giggling bridesmaids, crying Mom hugging you, ceremony, photos”Where’d Uncle Phil go?”, reception, Toasts, First Dance, more Toasts, “Oh where did I put that darn gift? Oh just take it, we’ll open them later.”, Cut the cake, etc.

Another nice time is after the wedding as a kick off to the honeymoon night. That can be very romantic. Of course you know you and your groom the best. If he’s gonna be drunk as a skunk by that time, you don’t want to do it then either.

Anyway, I don’t think there’s a wrong time etiquite wise, just pick the time that works best for the two of you.
      Congratulations!

  30. QUESTION:
    Best wedding gift protocol?
I am getting married next yeah, and me and my partner were wondering what is the correct eticet for asking for wedding gifts. We already own a home and it is fully furnished, would it be considered rude to ask for donations towards a new bathroom or extension and what if any is the best way it could be worded?? Many thanks to all who answer.

    • ANSWER:
Why don’t you explain on the invitations that you have everything you want in your home but you are starting a bathroom / extension fund and giftcards would be greatly appreciated. If you feel a bit guilty for asking this then give a little explanation about what you intend to do and that should do the trick.
Most people will see this as common sense as 20 toasters and a million bath towels would be welcome gifts but not really practical. I’d like to know I’d given someone a gift they could use and wouldn’t be sitting at the back of an airing cupboard for the next 30 years.
I’m sure some people might be a bit miffed by this but you can’t please everyone. If there’s a way to explain to close family and friends personally then do that then word will filter round the guests that you weren’t being greedy just practical. I know of people who asked for holiday vouchers so they could take theor kids to Florida instead of going on honeymoon and others who only wanted donations to their favourite charity. People today are think of what they want to do with their homes / life now rather than worrying about cupboard space years down the line. Take care care and GOOD LUCK on the big day, xxxx.

I am leaning toward a hefty wad of cash as a gift for a wedding in which I am the best man. The newlyweds will be paying for the entire wedding themselves, so I figure money will help. Does such a gift seem insensitive or impersonal?

    • ANSWER:
You are sensitive enough to know that money is exactly what they need. That seems plenty personal and very appropriate under the circumstances. The suggestion not to give it as cash is a good one. An American Express gift cheque is more tasteful and discreet, and can be used to pay off existing wedding debt, not just to buy new items. With the current recession, it is a bad time for a newly married couple to start off with debt to carry and a good time to help them out.

  39. QUESTION:
Is virginity of a person is the best wedding gift towards his partner?

    • ANSWER:
Virginity is not the best thing someone can bring to a relationship. The best things one can give in a relationship are honest, respect, loyalty and support.

If you’re a virgin when you get married, it’s nice to share that with your partner. However, It’s definitely not the end all, be all.

  40. QUESTION:
    wedding gifts for your bestfriend?
what is the best wedding gift you ever received?
what is the best wedding gift you have given?
what is the best gift best for your bestfriend whom is a guy?
what is the best gift you receive from your bestfriend whom is a girl?

my best friend whom is a guy getting married in few months from now. need some idea of a good wedding gifts.

    • ANSWER:
My favorite gifts were the ones with some sentimental value to them. My aunt had a quilt made and personalized for us. That was very special. I think the best one I gave was actually for the shower, not the wedding, but it was an entire bathroom decorating set that I had handpainted with rainbows because my cousin wanted to decorate in that and couldn’t find it anywhere. It was special to her because of that. For the best friend, because you know them so well, take whatever you know they are “into” and personalize it. For instance, if they enjoy throwing darts, you could buy a very nice dart set with the board in a wooden case and have it personalized with an engraving of their initials on a metal plate or with a family “crest.” You have to take what you know about them and spin it off of that.

  41. QUESTION:
Whats the best wedding gift that you can give your future husband on the wedding day?

    • ANSWER:
I think a really nice gift would be to give him a letter that you wrote. You could write about all the things that you love about him and how he captured your heart. You can also talk about the things you are looking forward to in your marriage. If you get either your maid of honor or his best man to give it to him before the wedding, I think it would be so cute!!!

      Good luck!

  42. QUESTION:
What is the best place to register for wedding gifts? And let me know why?

    • ANSWER:
My registry is a little different. My fiance and I have lived together for a number of years already and own everything we need. We ended up registering at Macys for a few household items (like the kitchenaid mixer that I could never justify spending 0 on). Our other registry is a honeymoon registry. Our guests can log into our account and purchase things for our honeymoon. For example, they can pay for a night at our hotel, dinner, spa stuff, touristy things, etc. Most travel agencies offer honeymoon registries. The one that we are going through actually sends you a check for the amount that your guests have purchased. You can request the check up to a few weeks before the wedding and if you dont request it, they sent it about a week before the wedding anyway. As of right now, my fiance and I are expecting a check for close to 00.00 to cover a very large chunk of our honeymoon expenses.

I would say you, but then again you already know this and wouldn’t be asking right?
I did three things for my fiance (husband on Saturday) I made him a scrapbook of us and things that have happened since we met, I got him a bride/groom ornament, and I made him a love letter that explains to him how I feel about him.
You could get him a watch, or a bracelet. You could buy him a beer mug engraved, you could get him a picture frame. Here are some websites that you could try out fo some ideas.

What would be the best wedding gift for a childhood friend? Money? Gift?
They don’t have a wedding gift registry and is on her way to move into a new house. I’m thinking cash or maybe a nice vase or Picture.

    • ANSWER:
Well I got married last year, and one of our favorite things to recieve was money. We had gotten so much other house stuff and all, we needed more money to help with all the things we hadn’t or weren’t gong to receive. I still have tons of gift cards I have yet to use, so I recommend money more than those, then they can get what they want where they want!

  50. QUESTION:
TO THE MEN! What was the best wedding gift you received as a groomsman?
we need to give gifts- do not know what to get!!

    • ANSWER:
Something that was specific to me, not some generic gift given to all the groomsmen. Because the groom thought of what I, personally, wanted, it meant more.

In my case, it was a gift card to a store that I’d love to be able to shop in, but it costs too much. I was glad to have a GC to buy without guilt.

Forget the pens, flasks, cigars, and such. Unless the particular person actually likes these things.
