      I think it sounds very nice. You can dress it up by the shoes and jewelry you wear, I think some simple gold pieces would look lovely with a brown dress, and maybe if you could finds some sandles with heels it would be just great.

      I would pick 3 for sure! Because it’s pretty enough to be a wedding dress but also casual enough so that you could wear it just as a dress too (get more use out of it). 1 is a dress you’d probably only wear once, and 4 is cute but not dressy enough for a wedding

      Since you mentioned bohemian, I think the first or third one would work best. They’re just so well designed. The little embellishments and ruffles just add a nice touch, so I would say choose one of those.

    How do I find a wedding dress?
    My little sister is getting married in a year and we have no idea how to look for the dress she wants. Any help would help. We live in Dallas but the wedding will be outdoors on a ranch in the hill country of texas in the evening. the tone of the wedding is ‘elegant country wedding.’ she does NOT want a satin dress. she doesn’t really want the traditional wedding ‘gown’. she wants a dress that is definitely special and stands out as a wedding dress but it doesn’t necessarily have to be bought at a bridal boutique. she likes the idea of vintage dresses (she likes the delicate lacey short sleeves and bodice that a lot of dresses have). she wants some sort of sleeve because she hates her arms (even though they’re fine) and she wants the dress long. she will be barefoot so she doesn’t want a short dress and defintely no trane. if i had to describe it i would say she wants the idea of a renaissance dress (long and flowy) but in more of an antique and bohemian style (she def does NOT want a renaissance style dress per se). price is not very important in choosing a dress, though that does not mean we want to spend inappropriate amount on a dress. as far as sizes go, i don’t know the exact size – maybe 8 – she’s 5’7 and has a nice figure. does anyone have any ideas on how to go about looking for something like this? if you even have some ideas of words to google, please let me know. i don’t really know what to search for. thank you so much

      Dear Bride-to-be:

      Neither gown is flattering, even to the models wearing them. The first one looks like a limp, ill-fitting nightgown. 0 they are getting for it?! (You might want to forget J. Crew they are more “prep” and too conservative to do bohemian.)

      The second one is better because it has more structure and one can tell that it is, indeed, a dress. Gathers around the waist only add fullness in that area. If that area is already round it would be okay. It would make a good maternity wedding gown. Do you have average to narrow shoulders? If so, the spaghetti straps are probably okay but if your shoulders are broad, you will want something more substantial.

      For a bohemian wedding I picture a cotton floral in, perhaps, crinkle cotton, or something with some sheer, fluttery layers. The best of the ’70′s sort of dress.

      You should be able to get something lovely for under three hundred dollars if it isn’t labeled “bridal”. That only adds about 900% to the already exorbitant retail mark-up. If the dress doesn’t fit “just so” spend a little more and have it expertly tailored.

    Whats a good way to do my makeup for a wedding?
    It’s not a fancy wedding. mostly casual but I’m still going to dress nice. it’s a pagan/Buddhist wedding and i’m going to be wearing a bohemian skirt that is lavender with a teal shirt (it actually goes well together) so what are some recommendations for make up tips? i’m a stay at home mom so i don’t do my make up that often.

      keep it simple, put on a light layer of foundation, and make sure you don’t look pasty. a tiny bit of pink natural looking blush. maybe light gold eyeshadow. black mascarra, but stroke the eyelashes with the brush sideways before putting it on properlly if this makes sense, ofcourse eyeliner, but make it all look natural, yet like it is still there.

    I’m planning my wedding, and was wondering if anyone knew any fun games like this?
    I just went to my fiance’s oldest brother’s wedding on Saturday, and he was marrying a Chinese woman. I guess the Chinese have a fun game that they play the day of the wedding (which, ironically, goes against the whole “groom cannot see the bride before the wedding, it’s bad luck” thing…). The game they played was called the Door Game, where basically the bride and her bridesmaids and maid of honor are in the hotel room after they’ve gotten ready, and the groom and his groomsmen and best man show up outside the room and have to do a number of ridiculous requests from the bride and her bridesmaids, involving anything from simple poem writing to demanding a large amount of cash to taking a swim in the hotel swimming pool while wearing their tuxes.
    They ended up, at this wedding, demanding ,999.00 US Dollars, which they kept getting Monopoly money, and whenever they didn’t cough up the money, which was everytime, they had them write a poem in under 10 minutes using hard words like platypus, marshmallow, spatula, and cucumber. And sing Bohemian Rhapsody while doing pushups. And having the groomsmen give the groom a lapdance.
    The end of the game is when the bride and her bridesmaids decide that the groom has “proven himself” worthy of marrying the bride, and they get to see each other before the wedding.

    Now, obviously without breaking any of the “traditional” wedding rules, like not seeing the bride, and not kissing the bride, etc etc…I would like to know any other games that would be fun to play the day of the wedding, before the wedding, at the reception, etc. I noticed that while playing this game, the bride became a lot more at ease about the whole day, instead of stressing the whole day with her MOH about how the planning is going. I really would like to NOT go bridezilla on that day. ;)

    Anything fun…as long as it’s not inappropriate and won’t destroy the wedding dresses/tuxes/makeup/hair/etc.

    Unique dress for a wedding?
    So my brother is getting married in August and I’m looking for a unique dress to wear (I’m not in the wedding, just attending). Nothing too fancy. I like to dress unique.       I think a “plain” button down white blouse would be your best friend when it comes to eye-catching bottoms. For the work environment, try wearing the shirt over the hip of the “long” version of your new skirt, a loose fitting matching skinny belt and a long necklace to round it off. Just be careful not to wear too many beads around your neck, or your bohemian look will turn to hippie in a flash. As for the wedding, your best bet would be to talk to the bride and/or the guests to get a feel for the unwritten dress code and just use your best judgment. Have fun exploring the many different options in your spare time!

    OK, my friend has been traumatized by relatives who were bridezillas and spent more then they could afford on weddings. I think she is going overboard the other way. The wedding invitation said “ultra-casual”. There was a little picture of flip-flops on the “save the date card”.

    What do my fiance’ and I wear to the wedding? I don’t want to look like a slob, but I also don’t want to be dressed more formal then the bridal party.

    The wedding is on a beach in the Fall, and the reception is in a sort of bar/pool hall/arcade place, if that helps. I can’t reach her, because she is overseas at a military base. (She’s a civilian contractor). Most of the guests are punks and bohemians in their early twenties.

    It’s a beach in New England in the Fall, it won’t be warm.

    Dress for my mother?
    My stepsister is getting married in a month and my mother is having trouble finding something to wear. The wedding will be outdoors/very casual and my mother is pretty modest. Are there any online stores comparable to J.Jill or Anne Taylor where she could look around for something?

    I don’t really like them but if I find one I like I’ll buy it. I’m what most people call a hippie. But i’m not really into labels.
