      My interpretation is that they did get married and he was then deployed. He died and she attends the funeral but in her mind she is going back to their wedding day and hasn’t quite grasped the reality of the fact he is gone but then comes back to reality that she is at his funeral. The reason I believe they did marry is due to a few things depicted in the video itself. One, the military appears at her door to notify her. If she was not his wife, they would not have come to her home to notify her, it would be the next of kin. Also, at the funeral itself, they hand her the flag which they would not do if they were not married.

      noo. the video just showed that she was suppose to be walking down the aisle at her wedding but she ended up walking down the aisle to his funeral cause he died in the war. so it shows what was suppose to happen and than it changed to what acutally happened. so basically they were engaged and he went to war but than he died so she never got to marry him so now shell always wonder what would of happened if he never died.

      Definitely Chelsea Clintons dress! It was perfect for her, and she wore it so well. Im not saying I would wear it as I think its the dress for only the ultra-high class wedding, but it was totally appropriate for her, her age, and the type of wedding they had.

      I usually love anything Ivanka Trump wears. She has the best style. Here, she went traditional which was an interesting choice for her. Its not the worst dress but I expected something less plain-Jane from her.

      I don’t believe Underwood wrote or co-wrote the song so, if it is a true story, it’s most likely not Underwood’s own story.

      However, there are many people out there whose fiances who were in the military had to go overseas on a tour of duty and ended up losing their lives before they could ever be married. It may not be a specific person’s story, but it basically is a true story of something that has happened multiple times.

      I think they made the video confusing on purpose. It leaves the real meaning up to the listener. Does she marry this guy and then he gets killed, or is she dreaming all of this? The point could be that she is imagining the worse while she is sitting there talking to her future husband because she knew he was going to leave. They left it open to interpretation.

I tink it was about a young woman and her and her boyfriend were engaged, whe her boyfriend was recruited by the military and got killed before they could get married. So yes, you are correct. But I think that in the song she still feels like he is still alive until she gets a dose of reality and snaps out of her trance. And then she is having a hard time moving on.

    what does just a dream mean? by (carrie underwood)?
    i thought she was getting married and she was thinking of when he goes to war and what might happen(getting shot/killed) and in the end he actually got shot like real soon after they were married. but i read that they were engaged then he got shot and she wore her wedding dress to the funeral. someone please tell me the actually meaning.

      ok this is the story. they got engaged before he went to war. and its showed them tlaking about it in the car and he was saying dont think about tomorrow and stuff cause she was nervous about him leaving. so anywyas, they were planning on getting married when he got back but he died in the war. so while she was walking down the funeral aisle she was dreaming how she was suppose to be walking down the wedding aisle not the funeral aisle. but than it went back to reality and showed that it was the funeral aisle. so she was just pictureing the wedding. its hard to explain.
