     When you look at the spring collections for 09, you will see that one of the hottest color combinations for brides who don’t want the “white” wedding is black and champagne.

     This combination is truly stunning and I think you will even see more of it in the fall collections as well.

     If black is too dark, then consider a light blue. French blue and gold have long been a color combination that makes a very opulent statement. Best of luck to you and your sister.

     You should look at eBay. Many gowns are made overseas, in China and cane be made in any color your heart desires! I got mine off eBay, and it cost me 0 with shipping. The quality is great, the fabric is the softest satin, and it looked exactly like the picture! It’s a Moda Sposa knockoff, and the original gown would’ve cost me over ,000! Also, The Knot has some great ideas for your bridal party. I am pretty much buying everything off eBay! My flower girl dresses only cost me ! I don’t know what your budget is, but look into it. It might just free up some moolah for your honeymoon!

4. QUESTION:
   Flower/wedding colors for a summer wedding with a champagne gown and taupe and champagne bm dresses?
   I am getting married next august and my gown is champagne satin. The bridesmaids may be wearing taupe colored dresses with champagne accents. Our reception is being held in a ballroom with a fairly dark decor, ivory walls but the carpeting looks to be a mix of tan, deep gold, navy, and maybe burgundy. What types of flowers or centerpieces colors can I use that will still make it seem like a summery wedding, but won’t clash?

     I would think that burnt orange, reds and yellows would blend well with that decor – but still give it a somewhat summery feeling. Of course, you can always go with a simple white and champagne color – that would look nice as well.
     I would try looking at some pictures of ballrooms with darker decor. Does your ballroom have a website?      Just about anything but a color that is really similar like taupe or yellow. Champagne is like a neutral so nearly anything would look good.

     Oh, and you wedding party may dye their hair between now & then so don’t use their hair color to pick out a dress color.

   Change a champagne colored wedding dress to white?
   A friend of mine gave me a wedding dress of hers. Its is a year and a half old, never worn. The color of the dress is champagne but I would like to bleach (?) it to white if at all possible. The shell and lining are 100% polyester the netting is 100% nylon. It is also beaded and stitched in some areas. Will it be possible?

   • ANSWER:
     Don’t try to bleach it yourself! Get a professional opinion and it must be dyeable. There are special white dyes that can be used but it has to be done in a certain way.

   My bridemaid dresses are lapis and my wedding dress is ivory/champagne. What color tux should the groom wear?

   • ANSWER:
     I am looking at the Golden Globes and I cannot help noticing how good the men look in their black tux. This seems to go well with everything.

      A burgundy sounds great. Deep red. (Color like the darkest velvety red roses). It would be beautiful w/those velvet red roses and babies breath for the floral decor and bouquet (you could also add roses & ribbon or? in that country Rose color you’re fond of – and it would tie the color scheme together very nicely)

      Sorry I’m getting carried away. It’s your sisters wedding and she’ll be choosing the bouquet and floral scheme…..sigh.
      It could be very pretty though.

    colors that go with Ivory and champagne wedding dress?
    My dress is Ivory and Champagne. I have no idea what colors that will make it pop. I am going with David’s Bridal for my shop. My colors that I have in mind for the BM are Lapis, Apple, and Jade.       Absolutely any colour – ivory is neutral. I love lapis and jade – either would be lovely.

    i was going to have my wedding with a red theme with even my dress with some red on it but i say this beautiful wedding dress that is champagne color and that’s the dress i’m going to buy.       You can still use red, adjust the hue. Have a deeper richer color red, like brick. I allways tell my brides to be the only “headliner” in champagne/white/ivory. For linens, chair covers use the opposite color (red). Then use a metalic for accents ( napkins, sashes) Use Ivory rimmed in gold for plates, gold chargers.You can even have goldtone cutlery.
      Have your flowers on the tables be in champagnes, golds, and add plenty of texture. For the girls use the neutral and golds for flowers and for your bouquet use reds.

      If you’re wanting a dress and someone is using that term, I’d make sure to get a swatch first – or see it – before ordering it.

      Echoing missmojo78. If you can find an experienced seamstress, you can have a gorgeous custom-fit wedding dress run up for the price of a store-bought gown. Vogue Patterns has hundreds of wedding dress patterns, some from top designers. But you’ll have to get cracking and find someone soon if you go this way.

      I think navy blue or maybe a burgandy would go. I think that you could do a red or a blue hue and maybe a dark dreen if you wanted to go that rought.     champagne wedding dress SOS!?
    I am getting married in late April 2010. We are getting married in a historical inn and then having a served dinner at the same place. We only invited 50 guests and while it is not jeans casual it is suppose to be comfortable. I found a purchased the dress from Davids Bridal Style: F12639 in Champagne (bargain!) It is perfect for the wedding we are having! I am not a traditional bride and did not want a white or ivory dress with the traditional shape so I went the bridesmaid dress route. I am now looking at veils and shoes.
    HELP!
    Since I saved soooo much on my dress (Nice!) I can purchase the accessories I want. I need to figure out what color shoes, veil and bolero (or some sort of sleeved cover up). Keep in mind i am a plus size girl. I was thinking a maybe a dark purple strappy sandal for shoes? Too much? Any suggestions would be helpful as long as they are constructive! Thanks for your time!

      You have MANY options!

      I too have a Champagne coloured dress (wedding date = July 29th, 2010 on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon). I actually have two pairs of shoes. I have a pair of satin flats that I had dyed at the shoe place for . They are dyed the same colour as the dress. And, for the reception, I have a beautiful pair of high heeled red satin pumps from Supadance (model 1039) so that I can dance the night away in style!

      I found it much easier to have accessories in a different colour My purse is red too!

    Will a white veil look nice with a champagne wedding dress that has light ivory embordary on the bust?
    My veil is white, not BRIGHT white, just your tradditional white color. The material is tulle and its 3 tier, finger tip length. Basically its about 3ft long. The wedding dress is called Aurelie and its from Maggie Soterro. They have the color listed as antique gold, but when you see it, its really what the “world” would consider as the color champagne. The material of the dress looks to be taffeta however its listed as satin. Do you think that would be a nice contrast or will it look as if I just threw on any veil? The ivory emborder on the bust of the dress blends with the white in the veil. I know its my day and I can wear what I want, but I would like your input as well. I did find a champagne color veil that matches, but since I already have the white I could save money by using that one and maybe be “stylish” at the same time?? What do you think? The dress is here.       I think the champagne is ok, but the blue would be better for your concern.

      As for looking hot, I am a guy and thik that dress would look great on my wife, so I assume it will look good on you.

    • ANSWER:
      I would go start trying things on. Go to a smaller, privately owned bridal shops (instead of larger chain stores), in my opinion the sales people are just more knowledgeable. Since you have a good idea of what you want, go in and explain it to them and they will be able to pull dresses that are what you have in mind. Almost all wedding dresses can be ordered in either ivory or champaign, even if the sample is white (I’m having an ivory dress too).

      Lastly, don’t be shy to try dresses on that a sales person might suggest. They have a great eye for body shape and what will look good on your and still be what you have in mind – it’s worth the 5 minutes to try something on, even if it isn’t exactly what you picture or doesn’t look great on the hanger. One of the salespeople at a little family owned shop suggested I try on a mermaid style gown and I fell in love!

      The dress she suggested wasn’t “the one” but I did eventually find my dress, and it’s mermaid style – something I never thought I would like or look good on me! My reception dress will also be a mermaid style!

      I noticed another posted recommended Casa Blanca – yes all their dresses are made of real silk, but at every store I’ve tried them on at (I actually like a quite a few of their designs) they are always overpriced. I don’t know why, maybe because they are a Canadian designer and made in Canada, but these dresses are always priced 0-900 more than they are really worth. And this is coming from my mother who used to design and make wedding gowns and owned a bridal store for 6 years.

      Yes yes yes! You do NOT want a white veil with an ivory dress. It will make your dress look dingy and dirty rather than ivory. Most bridal salons can get any veil in ivory or white, so it will be easy to find one. My gown is also ivory, as is my veil. It truly looks like it’s white, so don’t be concerned about it not loooking “bridal.” The only way you can tell is if you hold it up next to something that IS pure white.       Ivory/cream look really nice with gold/champagne. Also crimson is a really nice fall color that looks great as an accent. Or something closer to rust. Avoid greens though.

    • ANSWER:
      Don’t go to Pronovias in Bond Street, the Assistants are staggeringly snooty (they looked down their noses at my £2500 budget!). Ditto Berketex, where they will do and say anything to make a quick sale.
      The Bridal Room in The House of Fraser on Oxford Street is great. You might want to go to Caroline Castigliano’s in Knightsbridge or JS Couture or Jenny Packham all of whom are good, but don’t try to do more than three in one day because it’s surprisingly tiring.

    We went dress shopping today with the Mother of the Groom. She got an ivory blouse to wear under a black jacket with a long black skirt. My daughter piked out a dress for me, and I told her it was ugly. She made me try it on, and I loved it. However, it is also Ivory. My daughter was very excited that the MOG and I will be coordinated, however, now that I am home with the dress, I am concerned that it will look too similar to the wedding dress color. HELP ME. My daughter is gaga over the dress, and I guess that is all that matters,but I don’ want guests talking about i, wondering if I am trying to show up the bride.

      Ugh, I’m sorry but I would never put him in an ivory shirt. My gown was ivory and champagne and I heard the same thing, “white shirt will make the ivory dress look dirty”. Not true…the ivory SHIRT looks dirty no matter what dress you’re wearing. My husband wore a black tux, white shirt with a champagne neck tie and vest and it looked gorgeous. You cannot tell the difference in pictures, believe me. When he first tried on the ivory shirt, it looked like it had been peed on and had that really dingy tint to it. Do what you like but I’m telling you to ease your mind that it does not show up in pictures that way. Give me a thumbs down if you’d like…just giving my opinion based on experience!

    I am getting married this summer and have chosen a lace wedding dress which is an ivory with champagne/light gold detail. However I am now really struggling with what colours to have for gains bridesmaids! One of them wants black which I do not mind but then would that look a bit harsh against the lace on the dress!       What about a dusty pink colour – a muted shade rather than anything garish. Or mocca perhaps.

45. QUESTION:
    What color compliments champagne and sage?
    My wedding dress is champagne/ivory and my bridesmaids dresses will be sage green. I am having a hard time figuring out what color will compliment these besides pink and lavender.my wedding is in 4months..any suggestions?

      A rich brown, burnt orange, golden yellow, royal purple, lavendar, dark teal or rust red would work. The red would look stunning against the ivory, but the lavendar, purple yellow and brown would look best against the green.

      (And black, of course, but you don’t want black at a wedding.)

    Where to find informal champagne or off white tea length wedding dress?
    I am getting married in Sept (2nd for me) and looking for a champagne or off white tea length informal wedding, cant seem to find one I like. Either too drab or too fancy. I am having a small intimate wedding with about 40 guests. I dont want to spend alot either. Any suggestions??

      My only comment is that because it is a cathedral wedding, the bridesmaid gowns may be a little “skimpy” (at the top) for church. Maybe the ladies can wear a shawl or short jacket just for the ceremony.

      Only if you know for sure it’s not a color the bride or bridal party will be wearing. Champagne is a color that a lot of designers are using as accents on wedding gowns, such as beading, embroidery and/or sashes. Because of that, a lot of brides are chosing a shade of champagne for their bridesmaids gowns.

      If you know the family well enough to ask, then by all means do so, and if it’s not one of the wedding colors, go for it. But if there is any doubt, go for something that is less likely to be anything the bride will be offended by.

49. QUESTION:
    What color wedding chair covers, sashes, table cloths, napkins should I go with?
    I have a champagne colored wedding dress. My bridesmaid dressses are black with champagne sashes. Please help me with my reception linens!!!!

    • ANSWER:
      Take a minute to picture everything. You perhaps are going to have a large room for your reception. You walk into the room and…. there are tables with white or champagne tablecloths on them. The chairs have white or champagne covers, and the sashes are black, like the dresses. As cool as it sounds, it’s going to look very distracting with all those black bows, plus the centerpieces. Go for a white or champagne sash on the chairs, napkins and tablecloths, and bring the black in only in small pieces. A little black will go a long way. You could make black ribbon bows for napkin rings, put black onyx rocks in the flower vases, or use black confetti on the tables. Don’t use black candles. They never look right because the wax is funny and makes little white marks on the candles, so they look like they’ve been stored in somebody’s basement too long.

    I plan to wear a champagne coloured dress to a wedding in a couple of weeks but I’m unsure what colour shoe?

      Well, silver goes with everything….but I don’t think it would look very flattering with that champagne colour. Maybe heather gray? You could try nude-colored heels. I would definitely stay away from any bright or dark colors….which leaves you with strictly pale colors….hmm…I’d go with patent-leather (or something that looks like patent leather—if you don’t know what it is, it’s leather that’s shiny) nude pumps. Avoid a wedge heel—get one with spikes. It would be easier to choose what color & style of shoe if I knew whether or not the dress was long (like a kind of evening-gown cut) or a short kind of style (tea length or cocktail cut). Anyway, good luck and have fun!
