   Is there a home remedy for cleaning a yellowed wedding dress made of tafeta and chiffon overlay?
   My dress is tafeta with lace and chiffon overlay. I had had it professionally cleaned 30 some years ago and wanted to use it as decoration in my house before my daughter’s wedding this June. When I opened the box, the dress was yellowed as was part of the hat. Can I do something to remove the yellow without taking it to the dry cleaner?

     * Sorry No; it’s safer to have it professionally cleaned. The process is too hard to perform at home & dry cleaning is involved.

     * Oxygen in the air has oxidized optical brightener on garment, giving a yellow appearance.

     * Suggest having the dress vacuum sealed and boxed after your daughter’s wedding.

     I think it’s perfect. The material and style of the dress make it a perfectly appropriate cocktail dress to wear to a wedding. I also LOVE the grey, it’s a little different and very fashion forward in my opinion.

    Do white prom dresses look too much like wedding dresses?

      I think it will be fine, it sounds similar to something I saw a woman wearing at a wedding I was at. Maybe a little jacket would be good to have if it is revealing, or the event is formal.

      the ‘skirt’ part is made from chiffon which feels like silk pretty much so that will be comfortable, yes. i think it’s a lovely dress, go for it!
      ps, i think you’ll have to try it on before purchasing a slip- the seller doesnt mention that it’s lined so a slip may be necessary so you can’t see your underwear lol

      I really like the second one! It’s very simple, yet elegant. When my mom was looking for a wedding dress almost two years ago, she found one on Ebay for about .00. There was nothing wrong with it, and the dress was absolutely beautiful! I know it can be hit or miss with Ebay, but it’s worth a shot. Also, try thrift stores or keep an eye out for sales at different bridal shops. Although I’m not a fan of David’s Bridal for their customer service, they do tend to have some very good sales.

      Chiffon is a flowy, soft material. Taffeta and tulle are stiff, structured materials. The bride’s dress and the bridesmaid’s dresses should look related, but your dresses sound like they belong in different weddings. You probably want to rethink the bridesmaid’s dresses as long as your girls haven’t paid for them.

      I like the wedding dress options you selected; however, have you thought of more empire waist dresses depending on how big your baby bump is. I do the think the first wedding dress option would be the best out of the two.

      I do see how some would say it looks like prom but they are cute. I think the first one is too formal based on the dresses you picked for yourself. The second one can be dressed down if paired with flats and cute jewerly. The third looks good for a casual simple outside wedding.

      With it being in July I’d use light green. I’m not sure what color purple you mean in the purple satin but usually that’s not a good look. Satin usually makes people look fatter plus in summer it is very hot. Dark colors are more winter colors as well.

      So I’d stick with the light green.

I wouldn’t wear the white “ladies who lunch” type suit as it’s too business like and not romantic and personal enough. The Sheath dress will probably be ok, but I really think that the white chiffon dress will make your hubby to be smile the most. As you walk it will have a nice soft flowing effect which will add softness and beauty to your courthouse wedding. Your husband to be will not be able to take his eyes off you.       Well, it depends on whether or not the dress is machine-washable.

      If the dress is NOT machine washable, do nothing. Take the dress to a dry cleaner and ask them to remove the ink. They can.

      If the dress IS machine-washable, you can remove the ink with Krud Kutter Graffiti Remover. This product removes ink, even from fabric.

      Spray Krud Kutter onto the mark. Rub gently and let sit for about 15 minutes. Then launder as usual.

      You can buy Krud Kutter Graffiti Remover at Home Depot and most hardware stores. Aco Hardware usually carries it. You can also buy it over the Internet:
