      If you no longer have your wedding cake top, have a similar small cake made, just for the two of you. A little champagne, or any beverage of your choice. Candles, music of choice and some comfy cushions/pillows all over the floor or bed, with a nice deli picnic or pizza if you prefer, (finger foods are sexy, in case you decide to feed each other…) Maybe wear something new and a tad bit alluring and do a little something sexy with your hair. It all depends on what turns your guy on. I think you can kind of see where I am going with this.       Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

      Well, we went to a bed and breakfast in a really nice little town near where we live. It’s not the most budget friendly idea, but I have to admit that we used a gift certificate that we had actually gotten as a wedding present. We used it one day before it expired! It was really, really nice and fun. We just sat around on the screened porch wearing bathrobes all day. You could go to a hotel; it’s less expensive than a bed and breakfast. You could just pretend you’re on your honeymoon again. I do think that “getting away” is best, though. You don’t have to spend much. In fact, you could go to a hotel in your own town. lol. Just pretend you’re in some exotic place. You could bring decorations that look like the Carribean or something.

    My husband and I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary next month. He wants to spend it with his family.       I wouldn’t mind the going to church with the family, but the rest of the day should be just for the two of you. The family should understand that it is YOUR day–not theirs. The romantic dinner should be out (or ordered in)–no work on your anniversary!

      id say a big screen lcd tv. lol, thats what my wife got me for our anniversary. its great, especially right now for the NFL season. or for when you and your hub want to just stay at home and watch some movies and cuddle and stuff. if he already has one, get him a lazy boy recliner to watch sports or whatever “those are awsome, it feels good to have your own little space when you sit on it”,. but some other good things are, a digital camera, ipod,

      There are literally hundreds of things to do here in LA. Here is my list of “must sees”. Visit as many as you have time for.:

      Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors can’t be wrong. #1 Destination.
      Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. #2 Destination.
      Even if you don’t visit Disneyland or Universal Studios Tour, Downtown Disney District and Universal City Walk are very fun places to visit for shopping and eating. And they’re free to visit. If you’re adventurous, try the indoor skydiving (www.iflyhollywood.com). It’s a blast!

      Hollywood: Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Chinese Theatre and more. The Hollywood & Highland complex has lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater. The El Capitan theater, right across the street, is where Disney shows their movies. And the Hollywood Bowl is a GREAT place to listen to concerts outdoors.

      Other theme parks include Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain, which are both more geared towards the fast-ride teen crowd.

      Olvera Street/Union Station: Olvera Street is the birthplace of LA, and it emphasizes our Mexican heritage. In addition to the Avila Adobe (oldest building in LA), you can eat at some pretty good Mexican Restaurants, do a little shopping, and taste a churro. If you don’t want to go to Tijuana, this is as close as it gets without going there

      Rodeo Drive, 90210: Packed with exclusive shops, full of gawkers. They all came to enjoy the excess. Free, unless you intend to buy something.

      Venice Beach: Here you’ll find Muscle Beach, street performers and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dark, when it gets a little TOO interesting for my taste.

      Santa Monica: Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. After visiting the pier, you can ride a bike south a couple miles to Venice Beach.

      Sunset Boulevard began as a route between the stars’ posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the ocean, passing through the “Sunset Strip” on its way.

      Farmers Market and The Grove – A new shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles landmark, It is right next to CBS, so walk across the lot to see if they are taping “The Price is Right”.

      Griffith Park – Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage.

      Getty Museum – The Getty’s architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. No matter whether you like their art, architecture, or view better, the Getty is sure to please. Free.

      Attend a TV taping – You can get free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, tvtix.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It’s very interesting to see a show being taped. The most popular, by far, is the Tonight show.

      Places to eat:
      In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone.
      Pink’s Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a celebrity. Maybe.
      Tommy’s Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly & Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown.
      Canter’s Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly & Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a celebrity.
      Phillippe’s: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street.
      Tito’s Taco’s: Voted best tacos in LA, even though it’s in Culver City. King Taco is a good alternate if you can deal with East LA.
      The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, GREAT steak and eggs.
      Medieval Times and/or Pirate’s Dinner Adventure: Dinner and an adventure show, both are on Beach Blvd in Buena Park, you get to eat with your hands.

      Places to Stay:
      Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim. In Hollywood, I recommend the Orchid Suites, Hollywood Celebrity Hotel, or Hollywood Heights (formerly Holiday Inn Walk of Fame), all near Hollywood and Highland. In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced. In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. There is also a nice place in Burbank called the Best Western Media Center, very close to Warner, NBC, and Universal Studios.

    What is a good idea for a first wedding anniversary?
    Me and my wife’s one year wedding anniversary is coming up. Due to the stress of kids and being on such a tight budget, I want to take her somewhere for a few days. Just the two of us. But I have no idea where to take her! She keeps telling me not to worry about it because money is soo tight, but I wont do that. So I just want to take her somewhere where we can relax and not deal with stress. The hardest part is that I am not to good with the romance stuff. I try, but Im not to smooth with it.       Depends where you live. I got a reservation at the nicest hote in town and just told him to pack his bags we were going somewhere. It was the Gaylord Texan (nice hotel just like going to San Antonio but it is just a hotel with river walks and restaurants. Anyways you can just get a nice hotel for a night or two and just have something between the two of you. Order pizza and bring it back to the hotel and order a PPV movie and just relax in bed together. Guys like you are very rare. The fact that you even remember means alot. Hope this helps.

    First wedding anniversary – where should we go?
    August 2nd is our 1st wedding anniversary. We didn’t get to go on a honeymoon so we would like to take a nice trip for our anniversary. My husband will be off Friday-Sunday that weekend (July 31st – August 2nd) and we have about 0-300 to spend. We live in Southern Indiana (closest major city is Evansville, IN) area and we’d like to stay within 2 hours of home since our car is not the most reliable car in the world. We are looking for somewhere romantic with lots of things to do without spending too much.

      I would suggest w/ that budget. ( hotel are expensive around here) So, I would go to the next largest city,, find a nice hotel, go out to a wonderful dinner, see a play, and close the curtains,,you won’t realize that you are close to home!
      Happy 1st Anniversary. You could even spend of the money that you saved on gas,, on something simple that you may need for your home,, maybe a picture frame to frame the pic that you took while on your night out.

      It is weird…it is strangely hard to remember what we did. But, I think we went to the Melting Pot and went and saw The Departed (romantic movie huh?) I think the label “First Wedding Anniversary,” is intimidating. It does not have to be anything fancy…just spending time together doing something you both enjoy.

      Both exchange gifts, but, is best the husband remember before the woman and give her the gift first (because men have the fame to forget important dates).

      The gifts are not necessarily expensive. For poor/low profile, a DVD with the preferred movie or show is enough. For low medium class, a ring or a watch/clock is good. If you belong to the medium class, a LCD TV 29”/42″ is better. In the case of a high medium class, a car would be nice. But, if both are millionaires, a motor yacht is preferable.

      If it is important? Well, if you forget/miss the date, you can SAY GOODBYE to the marriage, also (because your husband will go to finish the marriage when he to perceive that you if forgot the date!)…

      My husband bought me an origami kit…we spent the evening drinking wine and laughing at our paper cranes. It was a blast. I had 2 of our best animals framed and they hang on our living room wall. We have been married for 5 years and I have to say that was my favorite anniversary…though if you are going traditional anniversaries your 3rd is leather!

      We ate the year old frozen cake, like a smart wife I naturally cut off the freezer burnt pieces for his plate and then ate the inside, mine was moist and delicious like my… sorry got distracted there and then we went on a trip to the river a bit of tubing and swimming.

      We learned on our first anniversary that you always tell people that it is your honeymoon, this results in free dinners and drinks, pictures taken for you, upgrades at hotels and even upgrades to first class. That is my best advice, just don’t argue and be sure to not say that the last one sucked people aren’t too kind when they realize you lied about your honeymoon.

    Where should I take my wife for our first wedding anniversary dinner?
    I am considering Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. I am willing to spend -100 for the overall dining experience. Historically, our special occasion restaurant has been Benihana, if that gives you a clue about the level of class and atmosphere I want.
    She has suggested a steakhouse, and we both want something that is classy, but short of full formal (black tie/tuxedo). We moved here shortly before getting married, so the “first date” nostalgia is not an option.
    She brought two teenagers into the relationship, and we also made a baby. We specifically want to get a babysitter and go out. However, for family celebrations, I do often cook things on the grill. We frequently make it a family project where one teen helps me and one helps Mom.

      Congratulations on your anniversary! I live in San Antonio, Old San Francisco Steakhouse is really good. Their address is 10223 Sahara 78216. They also have Seafood like lobster and oysters (if you know what I’m talking about). Other good places are you probobly know Mi Tierra, La Margarita and Pico De Gallo all are downtown.
