    • ANSWER:
Strip weddings = expensive. You can do some nice ones for not too much at Caesar’s Palace, MGM, Venetian (shocking, I know), Paris Las Vegas, and a few others I can’t think of. Bellagio will cost you an arm and a leg. Mirage doesn’t do weddings. Stratosphere weddings, eh. The Flamingo has a really nice garden but I am not sure of their prices.

I would avoid as much as possible any chapels on the north end of the Strip around downtown. Little Church of the West on the south end not too far from the Vegas sign is really nice. Oh! One good one I’ve heard about on the north end of the Strip is Little Chapel of the Flowers.

What are you looking for my friend?

Or can only Permanent Residents/citizens do so?

How long does it take for a non citizen to acquire permanent resident status after marrying a citizen?

    • ANSWER:
hi there – you can get married in Las Vegas whether you’re a US citizen or not (we got married in 2006 there and we live in the UK). You’ll need i.d. and for your marriage licence – there’s no waiting period and no blood test necessary. Your marriage will then be recognised as legal worldwide.

Don’t know the answer to the citizenship question – maybe someone else can help with this.

  21. QUESTION:
    Opinions on Las Vegas Weddings?
My boyfriend and I are starting to debate where the best place to hold our wedding. I’m from San Diego and he’s from Austin. Our families are in California and Texas. Someone suggested Vegas as an idea as neutral ground. Any thoughts?

    • ANSWER:
I’m getting married in September at the Flamingo – Everything is included – flowers, pianist, suite for 2 nights, photographer, dvd, etc. It’s very convienent to have everything taken care of. The hotels do weddings everyday and know what needs to be done and you are a lot less stressed as you don’t need to make a bunch of decisions.

As for guests coming to the wedding, I told everyone that this was our choice and if they want to go, then great – if they didn’t, we were okay with that too. We will host a dinner for anyone who shows up that night and we are having a casual reception back home the next week.

      Good Luck and Congrats.

  22. QUESTION:
las vegas weddings where did you marry?

    • ANSWER:
      The Imperial Palace

      http://www.imperialpalace.com/get_married.php

we had 50 people – a reception a band – and it cost like two grand!

  23. QUESTION:
    Las Vegas Weddings/Renewals?
Anyone have opinions/been married/guest at a Vegas wedding or renewal? My hsband and I are thinknig about a vacation, and I’d like to plan a wedding renewal (he sprung a surprise wedding renewal on our recent cruise). I haven’t had much research yet, but in the different sites, I’m drawn to the Red Rock Canyon package. Besides the intimacy of the ceremony (no guests, just me and him) we both are fans of nature type locations, pulling me towards Red Rock. But some of the other options kinda tugging me are things like one at a hotel/casino in which the ceremony is timed so that the water fountains erupt at the pronouncement of husband and wife…..or any other suggestions? We aren’t doing this vacay for about a yr. so I have time to plan and prepay. Any suggestions to sites or experiences are greatly appreciated (I’m afraid to speak to the vegas wedding ‘consultants’ because I don’t want them to draw to their location, or promise what I ask for now, and it change over time)

    • ANSWER:
Oh Lordy. It’s people like Cuppycake who give Vegas a bad name.

Listen, I live in this city and my husband works at many of the properties on the Strip and occasionally shoots chapel weddings at some of the hotels. Yes, there are men and women passing out escort cards (prostitution is NOT legal here contrary to popular belief) but it is NOT the seedy, dirty place he/she makes it out to be. Some areas of the Strip are worse than others but by and large Vegas is a great place to be both on and off the Strip.

I have a friend who is a minister at the Mon Bel Ami chapel who married my husband and I last October and I’ve been told weddings on the Venetian gondolas and Bellagio weddings are quite nice as well as Caesar’s Palace. Granted these are a bit more high end but well worth every penny. Red Rock vow renewals could be fun but I’d strongly recommend not doing it in the middle of the summer. Temps exceed 100+ degrees and a 15-30 minute ceremony can get uncomfortable quite fast.

Other options are in a helicopter through several companies near the Strip. Grand Canyon Helicopters and Maverick are two that I am familiar with.

If you have any other questions feel free to message me. I’ve lived here five years and know a lot of what is and isn’t good and have access to plenty of info if need be. Just one of the perks of being a photographer’s wife I guess. =)

    • ANSWER:
what happenes in Vegas stays in Vegas.

  25. QUESTION:
Are the Las Vegas weddings with Elvis impersonators official?
Within the USA and outside of it (specifically Australia).

I’m wondering if, following a similar principle to homosexual marriages, they are only recognised in Nevada, or the US?

(My friend got drunk and he and a girl he’d known 17 hours got married in Vegas. He did sign some paper(?s?), but he didn’t think at the time that it would hold outside of USA.)

I want to know if he actually is married, and should he attempt to get married in Australia, if he will legally be able to.
He didn’t go to a courthouse and get a licence, I believe.

He just went to an LV chapel with an Elvis. Walk in, walk out. No engagement or planning the bouquets.

    • ANSWER:
Congrats to him .. he is legally married. A marriage is a marriage here. If he went to the courthouse and got a license then had a marriage ceremony … Elvis, drive through, in a helicopter. Doesn’t matter .. they are legal and binding. Drinking and marrying aren’t a good mixture. Just ask Dennis Rodman.

I was wondering if anyone has been married at a hotel such as this in Vegas, what package you picked, and what you liked/did not like about it. Also, what did you pay in the end for how many people and ceremony & reception, etc. Any info you can provide is appreciated.
I should also note that the wedding packages i have been interested in are poolside or outdoors with pretty views…vs. the standard chapel packages.

  36. QUESTION:
    weddings in las vegas?
hi everyone me and my partner are thinking of getting hitched in las vegas next years has anyone one got any tips on traveling to las vegas or getting married there??
    any advice appreciated
    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Vegas can be an extremely cheap trip or an extremely expensive trip – it all depends on where you plan to stay and where you plan to dine. Two very nice hotels are The Mirage and Treasure Island. They’re on a very nice end of the strip, near the Wynn, Venetian, and The Bellagio. Generally speaking, with flights and either of those hotels, either one of those might cost a total of ,000 to ,500 total for 4 nights. Treasure Island has a very nice wedding chappel. See the following link for information on weddings at Treasure Island.

      http://treasureisland.com/pages/amenities_weddings_chapels.asp

As far as what to do, I would highly suggest seeing at least two shows while you’re there. There are so many great shows, from comedy, to magic, to theatre. If you enjoy theatre, check out the Phantom at the Venetian – very impressive. Cirque du Soleil Mystere at Treasure Island is also a great show (acrobatics and such). Mystere has been in Vegas for 10+ years and it’s one of the more affordable shows around.

      Best wishes, and have fun!

  37. QUESTION:
Are weddings in Las Vegas chapels religious?
Do marriages celebrated in Las Vegas chapels can be recognized as a valid religious Catholic marriage or it’s just like to get married to the justice of the peace?
I mean, do you receive the same sacrament as you celebrate your marriage at the Church with the Catholic rite?
Please answer just if you’re informed about this subject. Suppositions wouldn’t be helpful. thanks!

    • ANSWER:
As far as Catholics go – NO. You can get married legally,
but will need to have your marriaae Blessed by Man of the Cloth in order that it be recognized by the Catholic church as a Sacrament. My daughter was married by a JOP – She’s military and wanted to be married before one of them were deployed – And they had their marriage Blessed when time and schedule allowed.

  38. QUESTION:
Has anyone had a nice wedding in Las Vegas?
Hi, we just got engaged! We want to get married this August, and are leaning towards a destination wedding. We are out of the country for the next few months and want a wedding that will be easily accessible for visitors who are spread out around the U.S. We won’t have a lot of time to do planning, so something all inclusive would be perfect for our situation. I read information on Mandalay Bay and The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Any personal advice on Las Vegas destination weddings?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi, Congratulations!

Well, I got married in Vegas and had an AMAZING weeding, we did it out in Lake las Vegas, at the hyatt, the staff was so nice, I told them how much $$ I had and they worked around it to make the best of my money and they did! I had a wedding planner, the ceremony was in a beautiful gazebo by the lake overlooking the desert! the gazebo is behind this building so it was covering the sun, so perfect weather, then inside the ballroom everything was so magical, they did a great job and is really beautiful out there, now if you want to marry right on the strip the bellagio is a great option or the venetian, they usually have diferent packages depends on your taste and what you want, but yeah, they will include everything and you wont have to worry about anything! thats key, try not to hire people separate because if they dont show the hotel is not responsable, is nice when the hotel hire everything and you can enjoy your day! the hotels also include your hair, a massage and a pedicure if you want! for you and your party :) enjoy…

  39. QUESTION:
Do you find weddings in Las Vegas ridiculous?
The ones that are based on a theme, and you have Elvis Presley as the guy who marries you.?

    • ANSWER:
It’s only ridiculous if the person involved in the wedding finds it ridiculous. Some people are HUGE Elvis fans and like that kind of stuff. However, I’ve found through research that Vegas does offer classy, traditional type weddings done by a justice of the peace AND ministers if that’s what you so wish. They have a wedding for every taste & every budget. If you’re wanting to do a small, intimate wedding with a few family members and close friends, Vegas is not a bad place to consider. there are lots of nice places – depends on your budget. Mandalay Bay is nice, and so is the Bellagio, Wynn and many others. Lake Las Vegas is lovely and has a beautiful Chapel way off the strip and far from the crowds. http://www.lakelasvegas.com/events_privateevents.asp

  43. QUESTION:
are weddings in las vegas valid in the UK?

    • ANSWER:
Yes they are – Vegas marriages are recognised worldwide. You can pick up your wedding licence at the Marriage Licence Bureau by taking your passports and cash, and then get married at any of the chapels in Vegas. The minister then has 10 days to register your wedding with the Clark County Recorder; you can then send and receive a copy of your official marriage certificate.

      Have fun!

Can a non U.S citizen get married in Las Vegas?
Usually people get married in Las Vegas to have a quickie wedding cause its cheap, costs to get the marriage licence and Clark county doesnt ask for no blood test from the couple getting married, its easy, quick and hassle free to get married but what about people who are from other countries/non U.S citizen-can we also have a quickie Las Vegas weddings? what kind of identification is needed for a foreigner?

    • ANSWER:
As Sarah G. has pointed out, Yes, you can – and she listed the requirements. The question is “will your government recognize it as a legal marriage.” That is what you must find out before you consider Vegas. Check with your consulate or wedding bureau or registrar there and find out before you go very far in the planning stages. Best of luck.

  48. QUESTION:
What off-the-Strip venues does Las Vegas offer for more traditional weddings?
My fiance and I just got engaged and are looking to get married in Fall 2012. We are moving to Las Vegas this summer for two years because I am going to graduate school there. We are still trying to decide where we want to get married and it’s a toss up between Southern California (where we grew up and went to school) and Las Vegas (which would be a bit easier to plan since we would already be living in the city and could visit venues, meet with people, etc.)

The only Las Vegas wedding information I could find was about weddings on the Strip – however, I’m more of a traditionalist and am trying to stay away from the whole Viva Las Vegas vibe for my wedding. (Fun for Britney Spears, but not for me.) ;) Does anybody have any suggestions for off-the-Strip venues and ideas for more traditional weddings?
Just to add a few details:

-Of course we would want all of our family members there – as a traditionalist, I thought that went without saying :) (however, my Father did pass away when I was little, so it will be very bittersweet)
-I have never actually BEEN to any weddings on the Strip, but while visiting I have heard and seen many a wedding party walking around arguing or seemingly under the influence of alcohol. I just don’t want to fall into that category…
-And yes, I am looking for a traditional, elegant wedding in Vegas (the golf club suggestions definitely opened up my eyes to a new group of venues – Thank you Kelly and iloveweddings!)

    • ANSWER:
How many weddings have you actually been to on the strip?

They are not all like Britney Spears or Elvis Presley.

Some of them are very traditional and very elegant.

  49. QUESTION:
Are weddings performed in Las Vegas legal in California ?

    • ANSWER:
Of course Las Vegas marriages are legal everywhere – if they are done legally. If you had the Clark county marriage license, had it signed by the person who performed the wedding, turned it in and had your marriage certificate sent to you – your marriage IS legal, there’s no ifs, ands or buts about it. For your wife to change her name, she will have to call the social security office and see what she needs to do to change her name legally; there is some paperwork she will need to file; then she can change her name on the driver’s license as well – you’ll have to contact the DMV for more details.
