   I have chosen a neutral colour for my Bridesmaids (Latte) and would like the men in the wedding party to wear a slightly darker version of the girls.      Perfectly fine, as long as the bride agrees and isn’t buying a super formal wedding dress.

      The bestman’s suit should be like the grooms as well as the ushers. They should be almost alike but NOT TATALLY alike. Like BM have 1 color hankorchif,ushers another color BM another! I am not sure of web site!

      Formal usually means black tie(Black tie means a dinner jacket and the black pants with the stripe down the side,aka as the tuxedo);ask the bride or her parents what the dress code is.A suit may be acceptable,but for formal occasions,just a shirt and pants won’t do.You can always remove the jacket when you get too hot.

    I’m getting married in August 2011 and I’d like the men and I to wear khaki suits for the ceremony. We’re all different sizes…I’m 6’11 and the shortest guy is 5’8, so we’ll need flexibility.       Have to tell you that the idea of getting married in khaki did not initially appeal to me AT ALL. However, and provided its a relatively casual daytime wedding, I found these taupe khaki suits on Amazon that look quite nice. The fabric sounds like a nice blend. And they are offered in a HUGE array of sizes. So look at them and see what you think. (see link) And by all means, and if you like them, buy them while they’re on sale!!!

      Actually zoot suits were in style in the late 1930′s to 1940′s. While I don’t know much about fashion, in the period photos that I have seen they look very little like flappers. The following sites do a good job of describing it though. Since I suspect that the questioner may be interested from a swing dance perspective, I’ll mark the off work and evening ones.

    European Wedding Man’s Suit & shoes Orthodox wed in Greece?
    Having a traditional Orthodox wedding in Greece in a month . What do men wear in Greece for weddings. We were told that Tuxedos are not appropriate for weddings in Greece . So what color suits do men wear ? What kind of shoes ? My fiance has an athletic build and has purchased a linen H&M athletic fit khaki suit but also a pinstriped canalli suit (traditional) . We are not sure if he should wear either of these options or a tuxedo . Thanks

      Taking into consideration the place of the wedding and the heat that is common during July I would suggest something light and also keep in mind that towards the late evening humidity may be a problem too.
      That is one point against tuxedo.

      The Khaki suit may be ok if you are not overdressed for the occasion is the wedding is early in the afternoon, but the other outfit will be more appropriate for later on in the day.

      Light coloured suits are also used by many but that is actually a very personal choice.

      Keep in mind that if you have a reception afterwards he will need something less formal and light.
      Unless he loves you that much that he take the full punishment by the heat.

      I’ll keep fingers crossed that it will be an evening with slight breeze to take the heat away as much as possible.

      It’s your wedding.you can wear the wedding dress if that’s your thing.

    Im Irish, and going to a wedding in Sicily during the summer. I was thinking of wearing a full white suit and white shoes for a bit of fun.       I believe that you should go in a charcoal black suit or even a lighter gray. It is formal but yet typical.

    What stores can I find cotton men suits for a summer wedding? I’m a guest.

    • ANSWER:
      I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cotton suit. Linen, silk and seersucker I have seen (And of course wool blends for winter). There are also lightweight wool suits for summer (unlined, grey or beige). If the summer wedding is not black or white tie or semi formal you’ll probably be OK with a blazer and new-looking chinos/khakis. If I was shopping for a linen or lightweight suit (and wasn’t broke) I’d just go straight to my favorite department store (in this case Nordstrom). Even if they didn’t have any the boys who work there have to wear suits so they may have some suggestions.
      OK I just checked out Nordstrom and they actually do have a cotton blend suit…

      You can be very stylish in a light tan, light blue or gray. I would avoid white. I think some designers eve make like a plaid, not crazy, but with light colored pinstipes. Light, light, light.

      NO linen. men look so awful in linen, it’s effiminate imho. only european men can get away with it. you really couldn’t find anything at men’s wearhouse? the one near me has hundreds of suits & ties, so you should find another location and go back. you could get something cheap off overstock.com but those suits look awful, we tried that but my fiance ended up buying from MW.

      Go to Moss Bros and buy a Ben Sherman suit. They are altered by the store’s tailors to provide a perfect fit and are not unreasonably expensive.

      The same as for the groomsmen. I love light grey for a suit. The turquoise would be great for a vest and tie. I’d use a white shirt with that. For a little flower color, how about an orange coral shade? Sonja roses would be beautiful, as would Peace.

      Hi Erin, I have been to a “million” weddings and I only see tuxes, what is wrong with a tux? That is what men are supposed to wear for a wedding. They don’t cost that much to rent, considering it is the most important day of your life. Go For It!

      Its the same price for children as it is for grown ups. Both my son and husbands suits were 160 each.

    Class A’s for wedding or Suits?
    My fiancée is in the Army and plans to wear his Dress Blues for our wedding. Our best man is in the Air force and one of our groomsmen is in the Marines. All of our other grooms men are “civilians”. My question is will the wedding party look to divided if half are in uniform (all different Class A’s) and half are in suits/tuxes? I guess we are worried about to much going on with three different uniforms and tuxes…..Any opinions or suggestions?

      if youre going to mix it up i would atleast have it so they stand every other one… class a, suit, class a, suit etc… so that way the ones without the uniforms wont feel like they are the “less half.” or maybe have the ones in plain tuxs have some kind of patriotic accessory. like a red white and blue bouttenier? i think that would tie it in nicely.

      You should choose a color that highlights you skin tone, but
      I think a nice suit color for a spring wedding would be off white or a very soft sage color. A pink suit – over the top, and white- well lets just say- there should only be one groom per wedding…

    I thought brown suits but I am having trouble finding brown suits.

    • ANSWER:
      I was having the same problem because I initially wanted the guys to wear dark brown suits/tuxes. I changed my mind and put them in really nice khaki colored suits. I called every place in town and almost everyone of them had brown suits but not khaki. I just lucked out and found the one place in town that did. If you look hard enough you should be able to find it. Good luck.

      My bridesmaids are wearing chocolate brown and my jr bridesmaids are wearing light beige.

      It depends on the venue – is formal? casual? first wedding? did the invitations seem formal? what is the groom wearing? Tux? Suit?

      I would opt for the suit – always better to be overdressed (remove your coat and tie) than be underdressed)

      Definitely a sand, or oatmeal color. NOT white.

      Black would definitely be the most formal. Have him go to the Mens Warehouse or even JCPenny or any store that they sell suits/tuxedos. A nice vest under the suit would make it more formal.

    Is It Tacky For Guests to Wear All Black at an Evening Wedding?
    I went to a wedding, and all the guests men in black suits and women in all black dresses or skirts and blouses. It looked so morbid like a funeral or something. Only the bridesmaids were in hunter green dresses which were stunning.

    I wore a dark blue blouse with a black skirt and blue pumps, so I was semi color coated…….

      People tend to wear black because it is safe. It is flattering, it blends in to the background very well, and it doesn’t call attention to you.

    What is appropriate for men to wear to a summer evening wedding?
    We are attending my cousins wedding in August at 4:15 PM, reception is at a country club starting at 6 PM. I know usually evening weddings are more “dressy” affairs. So what would be most appropriate for my husband to wear? Is it ok for him not to wear a suit jacket but just a shirt and tie?

      It would probably be appropriate for him to wear it thru the ceremony and take it off at the reception. He should have it for the photos.

      A nice raw silk or linen suit would be killer, but make sure it’s of high quality. Nothing creepier than an ill-fitting cheap suit or tuxedo at a wedding ceremony…makes you think of a high school prom!

      I think it is wonderful you are being flexible. I truly believe it makes the stress factor go down actually.

      I think it be a wise idea to have the girls choose one, but don’t buy it (have it put aside etc) and then have you come look at it while they try it on. So no purchas is made that will not be your liken.

      I don’t know how frugal you are but honestly, when I go into thrift stores and goodwill, I see actual bridesmaid dresses that are like to bucks! some with the orginal tags still left on them! Seriously, check it out. No one will know where it came from (accept those wearing it). and can save a few hundred easy.

      My husband and I wedding orginally was Feb of 2008. We got married this past feb (2007) as he was shipping for his second tour in Iraq.

      Now, our issue was a little different as our families (mostly his) was the main problem makers. So, we decided to elope at vegas with a few of my family members (we were going to vegas anyway for his birthday that was going to be 2 weeks later. but at last min before we left, we make the arragnments).

      But with you, yes you can plan it.

      You can also plan a small wedding and have the wedding you want as a renewl. (Like my husband and I are still doing in Hawaii, orginal place we were setting up to get married feb 2008).

      Do you want at a church or at someone’s house? You can do it at someone’s back yard. Have a BBQ event of deep pit pig, steak etc. (my mom did this with my step dad).

      My aunt makes cakes so she made my mom one and my sister (when she got married). Know anyone who can?

      thought about a theme? Maybe hawaiian, 50′s style, etc. I mean, you can incorprate a theme and can get a lot of planning stuff at party works or stuff like that. So many things you can do.

      my husband wore a black suit with like metallic light white pinstripes and a very nice silk white tie…..hes also tan but not dark…. and he looked ridiculously handsome! and then for our second wedding (we had 2 haha) he wore a black tux with a white bowtie (his groomsmen had black bowties) and they all looked so cute!

    What is the proper attire for men to wear to an Indian Wedding?
    This is in New York next month. There will be activities for 3 days or so. Should I bring a few suits? Conservative ties? More casual? I’m lost. Please help.

    • ANSWER:
      The best bet would be to call up whoever invited you and ask them. I’ve been to weddings where they wanted all the guys in tuxes, and weddings where the bride and groom were in t-shirts and jeans.

      But I’d guess that unless you’re Indian yourself, they wouldn’t have a problem with you wearing European formalwear. If you can’t get in contact with them, I’d say your safest bet is to go in slacks, nice shoes, a nice oxford-cloth shirt, sport coat and tie.

      You know, I’d completely missed the part where there are three days of activities. In that case, bring a jacket and suit and all that, and also some nice-looking casual clothes, like some sweaters and khaki pants and stuff. But seriously, the easiest solution is just to talk to whoever invited you.

      What you should do is find out what company has stores in both countries by the net would be your best bet.Then all you have to do is be fitted & then make arrangments to have a pre-wedding fitting before the wedding as to ease your mind on fittings.As Australia & New Zealand are so close neighbours & have strong ties with each other you are sure to find a company that has connections in both countries.As you are dealing with 2 countries your best bet would be the ever trusting Internet.

    I am going to a wedding in Monterrey, Mexico in a few weeks. The invitation states Formal, but the groom says dark suits for men (not tuxedos). As a woman, how should I shop? Evening gown or just a very nice dress? Wedding starts at 9 pm. Someone please help me! I hate to be over or under dressed for the occasion. The bride is Mexican.       Well i have been to many wedding in monterrey and if you know them personaly like family close friends…etc then you should dress formally but if you dont know them it would be ok to wear a pretty dress .just make sure its not a prom dress or anything like that. Have funn! Also to add you dance a lot at the wedding so something comfortable
