My Fair Wedding

I have been in love with the beach since I was a little girl. I often spend my time sitting on the beach just staring out at the ocean. The ocean seems incredibly serene and powerful to me. It was also my dream to hold my wedding ceremony on the beach. I was determined that I would be having a beach wedding someday from the time I was 10 years old. I still carried that idea with me all the way through my college years. In fact, my mind was already thinking ahead to how I was finally going to have my dream beach wedding, when my fiance slipped a ring on my finger.

However, my fiance wasn’t exactly thrilled with the idea of a wedding on the beach because the closest beach to our hometown was more than three hours away. Nevertheless I was still determined to have a beach wedding, even if it means limiting the number of guests that would actually attend. Unfortunately, my fiance was still not sold out on my dream wedding after several months of debate on setting a date. He finally gave in when he realized that nothing less than a beach wedding would make me happy.

I was glad when I found a lovely inn that was located directly on the beach. However, I had to reserve all of the guest rooms for the weekend in order to have my wedding there. It was quite expensive but I reserved the rooms because I was in love with the little inn. My older sister, who was assigned as the wedding coordinator, was more than happy to take control of my beach wedding plans.

My sister has a lot of experience with weddings and is capable of going over lots of details that I would never think about. She suggested that I should get married in the morning because of the position of the sun, so that we will not have our photos taken with everyone squinting because the sun is in our eyes the entire time.

She also told me that the breeze at the beach might affect my beach wedding. I didn’t realize that the breeze might blow my dress out of place and might also blow the sand around. As a result, I had to adjust my thoughts on buying a dress and how I’d wear my hair to deal with all of the factors that had been brought to my attention. I purchased a dress that was a bit more form fitting and didn’t have a long train. I also realized that it would not be a good idea to wear a veil and decorate the chairs with flowers and ribbons. I made sure that everything that was going to take place on the beach very simple and hassle-free.

Fortunately, our wedding turned out to be absolutely perfect. You have to plan accordingly, if you’re also planning a beach wedding. You may have to adjust some of your plans in order to make things as simple and perfect as possible, but it is certainly worth it.

      Depends on your view of what a Mormon wedding is. If it is a general wedding, yes, he can do those. They can be performed anywhere. If it is a Temple wedding, no, he cannot do one of those. Only Mormons of good standing may enter a Temple and do the ordinations necessary.

      As for who pays for everything, I do not know.

      I don’t watch David Tutera’s show so I’m not sure what the bridesmaid dresses look like. However, you might try to search for them on Shiny Orb, since they let you browse thousands of bridesmaid dresses by style. If you know what the neckline was or what the length was, you can filter through them.

      No, My Fair Wedding is usually very low- budget brides who have a problematic situation. (It could be a cheap hall or a horrible dress, or horrible bridesmaids dress.)

      WEtv and Tutera pays for part of the wedding, comes in and gives these unfortunate brides a chance at a wedding that is similar to someone who has a 0k budget.

    I just watched the part where the bride walked down the isle. Was anyone else amused or annoyed with the tan lines all of her bridesmaids were sporting? They’re all orange, is fake tanning really that popular in the northeast?

      OMG!! I just got done watching that like 5 minutes ago and I tan and that is the first thing I noticed when I saw the bridesmaids in their new dresses!! I usually tan in a bed but if I know that I am going to be showing off my shoulders/underarm area I tan in a stand up!

      I would say to use hearts on the stationary. Invites, menu, etc…I wouldn’t use confetti he seems to frown on that. Maybe have a heart brooch pinned to your bouquet. Maybe a heart charm on your garter. I wouldn’t do anymore than that.

    My photographer states in his contract that he MUST receive the same meal as the guests during the reception.

    My DJ states in his contract that the DJ and his assistant must receive a complete meal plus a & drinks tab each at the bar.

    I mean – when I go do a job for someone, I pack lunch! I would have provided them with wedding food anyway but for them to demand it like that seems so rude. Especially the DJ who demands a drinks tab!!

      It should be a given that they will be fed.

      Unfortunately, they probably do it because theyve been “stiffed” by too many brides and grooms who figure because they are hired, they are slaves who do not require refreshment or nourishment during the day. Ive seen brides on here moan about having feed their photographer and DJ.

      Personally, I wouldnt hire someone and expect them to their best work on an empty stomach. I dont have a problem with giving them a meal. So yes… I think its a “fair” demand.

      Why are you hiring a DJ that drinks alcohol on the job?

    I love to watch shows like Who’s Wedding Is It Anyway?, Bridezillas, and My Fair Wedding with David Tutera. I have noticed from watching these show, it seems that planning a wedding is hard and stressful. it also does not help that because no one in my family or friends has had an event like a “real” wedding (other then a back yard wedding causal with jeans and court house wedding) that i have never seen or been around someone planing a wedding.

    Is it really that hard to plan a wedding?

      I don’t think that it is hard, but it is very detailed and time consuming. It is and can be really fun to do, but if you aren’t an organized person or you don’t have organized people around you it can be a B****.

      I think that a wedding is about what the couple wants and can afford… and while there are so many DOs and DONTs, inevitably, the marrying couple can do what they choose.

      Don’t feel pressured or “less than human” if you don’t do all that David Tutera says…. That is why people go broke and can become divorced. Over-consumption with keeping up with the Jones’s.

      Make this the best party that you will ever have. And the best short church service.

    I wanted to find the dress shown in season 3 episode 4 of my fair wedding called Zen. It was not the wedding dress, but a white party dress, knee length, one shoulder bare and the other with a long white sleeve. What I loved most was sheer lace that was on top of the dress itself, almost like she was wearing two dresses on top of eachother.     Okay, so every time I watch an episode of My Fair Wedding, each bride’s original idea was something small, fake, or wimpy, using the excuse that “She’s on a serious budget” or something along the lines of that. Then David Tutera redoes the wedding, making everything huge, with real flowers, stellar venue, lighting, custom linens, all new bridesmaids dresses, the whole nine yards.       Absolutely! You definitely have to “stand – out” in order for them to select you as one of their fairytale stories. No one likes to watch boring stories. The more crazy you are and stand out from the rest, the better your chances are of getting on the show.
      And, if you ever watch “Bridezillas”, I think the same applies. I think they edit that show a lot to make it seem like the bride – to – be has lost her mind. Being extremely dramatic and a bit loony makes for good reality t.v. Otherwise, no one would watch.

    is the minimum guest count for a wedding fair?
    i have 70 guests and really want to have my wedding at top of the tower in phila on a sat. they just informed me there is a 125 person minimum. so i can’t have the wedding of my dreams now. is this fair? is this normal? another venue i had in mind said there was a minimum of ,000.

      It is normal. Two things….if you are having a 70 guest wedding in a 150 guest room your wedding reception will look more than bare. Not only that, it is business strategy, if they feel they will spend more money to host your reception than profit they will have a minimum guest number. You will find that with limos also. My wedding and reception are at the same place but because I am having my wedding on a Saturday I have to rent it for at least three hours. I found a way for it to work in my benefit though.

    How can you enjoy watching “Platinum Weddings” or “My Fair Wedding” with David Tutera?
    …unless you are wealthy? I watch wedding shows for inspiration…but shows like those make me sad or jealous because I know I can’t afford that lavish of a wedding. I like watching “Bridezillas” because their weddings are more in the middle class range, so I can relate to them a little more.
    Not to be argumentative…but not all of the wealthy work hard for their money. Many were born into it…which detracts me from the show even more. And with “My Fair Wedding,” they get the lavish wedding for free! Not all Bridezillas in the show have low class weddings. Just because they have less money does NOT mean that their wedding is any less important or beautiful than the wealthy. I feel as though many of the answerers are wealthy people cloaked as middle class. I sense deception in the ranks.

      The vendors donate things in return for being mentioned on the show, in the credits or on the shows website. He doesn’t pay for it.

    I love his show and thought that when he chooses you, he pays for everything he does. I went on his website to sumbit my friend, and it says the price ranges on one of the tabs. anyone done this? what happened? and can someone please fix this mishap for me?

      He doesn’t pay for everything, he endorses companies on television (bridal boutiques, event lighting, bakeries, etc) in exchange for their services. Of course he has a fee, he has to travel, and I’m sure his endorsements don’t make everything on the show free.
