Are you a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland? Then this is the wedding theme for you!
The invitation you receive has a small round circle on the back, it’s of dark blue and has white printed on it, the words of course say “Open Me” in nice readable script. Who wouldn’t open such a delightful little message that’s addressed to you? When you open the envelope a very fun, colorful invitation is revealed. The wedding invitation is of blues, yellows, greens and pinks, all together in gentle, whimsical pastels. By the sounds of it, you have been invited to wedding and tea, so wear your best attire with a splash of color.
The wedding date has arrive, it’s an outdoor wedding on a nice spring day, being held outside in the garden with vast amounts of flowers, lush green grass, and water fountains. You follow the signs that say “This Way” and “That Way” to the area that the wedding is being held. As you arrive you notice green, blue, pink, and yellow paper lanterns. The seats are basic, with little signs saying “Sit Here” or “Sit on Me” hanging off from the side. This is surely a curious wedding! Everything has an opinion on what it wants you to do.
Playing cards are spread everywhere, at random and even some extra flowers from the garden that Alice stumbles upon. A little girl dressed in a light blue dress, with a little white sash around her middle and a headband skips down the aisle, dropping flowers with every skip. Before she is fully down the aisle, the bridesmaids and groomsmen start to walk down the aisle as couples. The dresses of the bridesmaids are the same gentle pastel colors as the invitation, except for one who must have been the Maid of Honor, the men in tux with ties that match the bridesmaid they are walking with. One of the groomsmen, the best man, appears to have a rather large hat- a formal Mad Hatter.
Finally the bride walks down the aisle, she’s stunning in a fairytale dress with her hair done with flowers. The groom is wearing a stunning tailed tux, white button up shirt with a dark red vest, and a black tie as he waits for his bride to arrive. They are certainly the King and Queen of hearts, since the bride has a bunch of dark red roses and the groom has a single red rose pinned to his coat.
As the wedding ceremony ends, the party is just starting. You, and the rest of the guests, are ushered to a different part of the garden where there are tents and dance floors set up. A band is already playing on a mini-stage. The place is covered with little colorful lanterns and vases spilling with flowers. On the tables, which are covered by different colors following the same pattern as before, are Las Vegas Wedding Poker Place Card Holders with a name on each one. Two of a Kind Playing Card Favors are also on the tables, along with tea cups that say “Drink Me” on a card and a bunch of cupcakes and cookies that say “Eat Me” on the platter. As the guests eat and drink, they notice Seed Wedding Favors ‘Love Grows’ under their cups- a lovely addition for the garden wedding and the perfect party favor.
This is one tea party that the real Mad Hatter will want to go to! Everyone enjoys the games, food, drinks, and music until the night comes up- and even then those lovely colored paper lanterns extend the party away. Surely, this wedding is one that you will never forget and for Alice in Wonderland fans, a wedding theme your guests will long remember.

QUESTION:
outdoor weddings?
Has anyone had an outdoor wedding and what was the things you loved and hated about it? I’m thinking about doing it but nervous because only seen it on movies and can’t get an idea of how it will really be.Thanks
-
ANSWER:
Our outdoor wedding was beautiful. The only downside was that we held it in August and on our wedding date it was 105 degrees outside. So if you do an outdoor wedding, make sure its during the fall or spring so its not scorching hot out! Our pictures turned out beautiful because of the natural lighting. I highly recommend them because you can use the natural beauty of the area as part of the decor/theme, etc. Good luck and congrats!!

QUESTION:
Does the Episcopalian religion allow outdoor weddings?
Hi, my fiance and I are getting married next April outdoors on the beach. We are in the process of trying to find an officiant. His parents have been members of an Episcopalian church near where we are getting married and have a friendly relationship with one of the priests there. Does anyone know if Episcopalians perform or endorse outdoor weddings? We would like to have this priest perform the ceremony, but don’t want to ask something that could be looked down upon by the religion (like Catholics). Thanks!-
ANSWER:
Hell no! If you will get married outside God will come down from heaven and smite you. And it will be really really really embarrassing. Don’t do that.

QUESTION:
Outdoor weddings – do you have a rain backup?
I’m just curious since I see alot of talk of outdoor weddings.
If you want to be married outdoors, having it in a tent seems silly to me because you wanted it outdoors and it seems to defeat the purpose, however you don’t know what the weather will be like.So do you have to get a tent just in case it rains on that day?
Or do you go with a venue that could bring you inside in the event of rain?-
ANSWER:
I live in Michigan and the weather honestly changes here by the hour sometimes. I have been to outdoor weddings where it poured, and I have been to outdoor weddings where it was just beautiful. I think in most cases people just hope like heck that the weather turns out great. It does make a difference in what month you choose as some months are completely off limits (like April – guaranteed rain that month!). I would say a back up plan would be an amazing idea, or just plan to have the wedding indoors! It rained so hard on our wedding day 3 years ago, and fortunately the church was connected to the reception hall so once our guests arrived for the ceremony, they didn’t have to go back outside until they left for the night. Worked out great!

What are those structures you usually see at outdoor weddings?

QUESTION:
What are some problems you have had with outdoor weddings.?
I am considering an outdoor wedding and would like to know some problems that may occure and how to fix them. Perhaps this will help me prepare.-
ANSWER:
If you are having it at a stand alone place that doesnt do weddings onsite as their main thing (like a winery) you will most likely have to buy insurance for the day. My friend ran into this and it was an unexpected expense. Be sure to have some extra “just in case” money put to the side for any unexpected expenses.

QUESTION:
Outdoor Weddings. Okay, we’ll have a tent but what about toilet facilities? Have any of you had an outdoor
wedding? Where did you choose to have it, what were the drawbacks and the perks?
I agree with Cali. The reception will be outside as well. Will this make it more difficult???
Don’t know what happened to Cali’s post but she suggested that outdoor toilets tend to smell in warm weather. To tell the truth, I can’t imagine my guests having to use them. Can a home with 3 bathrooms handle up to 300 guests?-
ANSWER:
I was at my cousins’ weddings, they were both outdoors in the summer on some really swank grounds. The parents rented port-a-potties. Nobody minded, there was enough champagne and wine for anybody to care. They even decorated the insides walls with pictures of the happy couples. Then the port-a-potty people come the next day and picked them up. So you can have a really posh wedding with port-a-potties, nobody will mind.

QUESTION:
Where are some places in Utah for outdoor weddings that are affordable?
Alcohol allowed is a must, and preferably in a nature setting. I would like to spend no more than ,000 on rental of the place. Not including catering and bar services of course.
Anywhere in the northern Wasatch area. Salt lake county, Summit county, Davis county, or even Utah county (though I’m not too crazy about Utah county it’s probably a dry county).-
ANSWER:
Go to weddingwire.com and type in your zip code. Awesome website that give you local facilities that hold receptions and ceremonies. They can even suggest local photographers and anything else you need.

QUESTION:
What is the etiquette for ladies wearing hats to outdoor weddings? I am attending a wedding this week & would
like to wear a hat with my cotton summer tea length dress. What are the rules to follow for ladies and hats? Do I have to remove my hat at any time and if it is a wide brimmed hat are there any rules about embracing someone without smacking them in the face with the brim. Any quick help would be great!-
ANSWER:
You are permitted to wear your hat outdoors as long as you do not block the view of other participants. Remember this as you choose your hat. Perhaps you might select something with a mesh or net brim.
If you are blocking someone’s view it would be considerate to remove the hat before being asked.
When greeting others, you are allowed to keep the hat on and assume the “air kiss” head position in order to not poke them with the brim. If you are poking people, take it off.Much of etiquette is simple courtesy.

QUESTION:
Outdoor weddings & rain – how does it work?
I have seen a lot of beautiful open air weddings. So what do you do about the possibility of rain? have a whole back-up venue or what? in the UK it is a real possibility.-
ANSWER:
We had an outdoor wedding. We asked the restaurant what would happen if it were to rain. They said that, weather permitting, they would start with everything outside.3 hours before the wedding, I would then have to make a decision: indoors or outdoors? Once that decision was made, I had to stick with it.
Make sure that your venue has enough room for an indoor wedding in case of bad weather.
Using tents is fine with heaters that are strategically placed. But even then it can get mighty cold! Went to a wedding a few years ago when where that happened.
Cheers.

QUESTION:
Catholic priests and outdoor weddings?
I am looking for information regarding Catholics marrying outside the church and having Catholic priests perform weddings outside of the church itself. My fiance and I are both Catholics…we were born into Catholic families, had our first communions, reconciliations, and confirmation in the Catholic church.
We are getting married next May. We have never had anything against the Catholic church in any way, however we just don’t picture ourselves getting married in a church. The only reason for this is just basically because we have our hearts set on this beautiful outdoor venue, its actually a garden at a conservatory which houses many botanical exhibits.
Has anyone out there had problems with getting married outside of the Catholic church under similar circumstances? It just bothers me in a way that the church can put restrictions on peoples wedding ceremonies, when they make the couples truly happy, are a better representation of the couple being held elsewhere, and are not sinful or anything that makes not getting married in the church a legitimate issue. Or was this not a problem anyone faced? I am bothered by the thought of my marriage not being officially recognized and being deemed illegitimate or unworthy. Any tips/advice or stories to share to help us out? I mean, there are so many people getting married in outdoor ceremonies that I don’t understand what the problem would be. And the priest at our church is an older man that I think is very traditional in nature…can you find a priest outside of your specific church, as long as they are Catholic? How does all that work?
Also, what are the marriage classes like and how early must they be completed?
-
ANSWER:
The Catholic church will not perform weddings outside of their walls. You can find reformed priests who will do that for you but it won’t be recognized by the church at all.

QUESTION:
PLEASE! Any tips on outdoor weddings?
We are planning our outdoor wedding. I would love some helpful tips or things to watch out for! Thanks!-
ANSWER:
always plan with the thought that mother nature may not cooperate. Have a awning or tent or building to get into in case of rainy, windy weather. Don’t face the guests into the sun as this is very hard on the very young and old, and makes it hard to enjoy the service. Wear shoes without much heel as they tend to sink into the ground quite abit and have been known to trip quite a few brides. Don’t sit quests directly under trees that are loaded with birds. >>> Make sure to be in a somewhat private setting as to not have uninvited guests wander though your area. Try to find a picture perfect view, especially for photos that may be taken.

QUESTION:
potted plants for outdoor weddings?
I am getting married late August of this year outdoors under a big pavilion. I am trying to save $$ here and there where I can. As far as flowers go, I need ideas for the flowers at the alter under the pavilion. Would it be okay to use big potted plants instead of the usual floral arrangements from flower shops that cost tons of money? It makes sense to me. Why not, I mean, we will be outside.-
ANSWER:
My dear friend did exactly that and it looked lovely. She even bought a lovely trellis that she used on either side of the alter and put large blooming vine plants through it and overhead. Just a hint, she got married in May when it was still cool and the plants were still blooming. You might want to go to the nursery or home improvement center and talk to them about what will be in bloom in your area in August and how long they bloom for. That way you will know how far in advance you can buy the plants so that they will still be blooming on your special day.

QUESTION:
Outdoor weddings in Southwest Missouri?
I am looking for a large outdoor space to hold a wedding ceremony. The only places I have found only hold 50-60 people. I would ideally like to find somewhere that has a covered space in case it rains. I am looking mainly in the southwest Missouri area.-
ANSWER:
As another poster mentioned, a state park is a great idea – just make sure you have a permit. Also, as a reminder, The Lodge of Four Season does have outdoor locations and you can book them for the ceremony only (they also have cocktails package too and the full wedding package) The Japanese Gardens are gorgeous and seats up to 200 guests. I think it’s 0 for the ceremomy only (less if you’re ordering a package of course) but you can contact them to confirm. They also have other outdoor sites

QUESTION:
I have a new Canon 30D. I plan to shoot outdoor weddings. What is the best lens to cover most shots?-
ANSWER:
The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM is an excellent wedding lens. It’s sharp, fast, covers a good focal range that will allow interior shots, group shots and close-ups…it’s only con is, its heavy and expensive…but would certainly be an investment if you continue to shoot weddings.
The 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM is also a very good option. It’s a bit slower, but has IS which gives you a 3-stop advantage.
good luck.Check out the reviews below…

QUESTION:
What outdoor areas are free or low cost for weddings?
I am looking for a place to have a wedding for free or very low cost. The food, chairs, pretty much everything would be provided by family so I am just looking for a locaton.-
ANSWER:
Most public parks have spaces that you can use for a very low cost (normally just the fee for a permit, which you have to reserve in advance. I live in DC and reserving a large picnic pavilion at Rock Creek Park is only .00. You can reserve one of the fancier event spaces, like the garden area, for just 0. If you’re lucky enough to live near a beach, most public beaches will also sell you an event permit. So look up the park service in your area – bigger and national parks will definitely have websites, others should at least have a phone number for a ranger’s or administrator’s office – and ask about their permits and policies. Be sure to ask about the rules about food service (they might say no glass containers, for example), how many people can attend in the area you reserve, noise/music, etc.

QUESTION:
how many people have planned outdoor weddings and it has not been the way they planned?
i have been trying to help plan my friends wedding but she wants an outdoor wedding but i am afraid that the weather is not going to let that happen but if i still end up planning this wedding outside what where should i plan the back up site for the wedding-
ANSWER:
Our wedding was outside. It was also one big “what’s happening NOW?” from start to finish – but the weather was fine. Have been to a lot of outdoor weddings, from the simple to the posh. Something unexpected has happened at each, but then that’s true of every indoor wedding I’ve been to as well. Weddings rarely go off exactly as planned. How people react to what happens determines if they end up enjoyable, leaving cherished memories, or horrid. Here are some tips:
> Try to keep things as simple as possible and don’t be afraid to enlist help. Whatever time you think you need to get ready, beforehand or on the day, double it.
> Backup plans are good – if you book the wedding and reception at the same place (wedding outside, reception inside or at a place where they have a patio so it’s indoor/outdoor), then you have a ready place to sprint to if it’s too hot/too wet/too windy outside.
> Tents are nice if properly and securely staked (otherwise, a high wind turns them into kites).
> Cut flowers in the sun will wilt unless spritzed occasionally. Balloons in the sun will pop if inflated firmly, so leave room for expansion if they’re going to be in the sun.
> Is there water? If there’s natural water, like a creek, pond, etc., think mosquitos and ducks. You can rent mosquito-trapping lamps, but where ducks go, ducks GO, so don’t have the wedding near the water if there are ducks, geese or swans, unless you also rent a deck, and have a mop handy.
> John Denver said “sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy.” He wasn’t standing for hours in the sun in a tuxedo or wedding gown. If it’s likely to be sunny, think about providing shade for wilting bride, groom and pastor, and sunburning guests.
> Food and ants/critters. Wash and save your cottage cheese containers. On the day, fill them with water and put the legs of outdoor tables containing food in them to keep ants out of the food and off the wedding cake. Food on tables outdoors should have bug covers (mesh domes that keep out insects), and this is the time of year to buy them (they’re also used for picnics and other outdoor dining). If wedding is catered, make sure caterer plans to keep food covered and at right temperature. No matter what happens, if everyone keeps a good attitude, the wedding can still be a good launch to a happy marriage and full of wonderful memories. We still laugh about ours, which was an unmitigated disaster, years later.

QUESTION:
Anybody know of a Kid friendly venue for outdoor weddings between Newark, Ohio and Coshocton, Ohio?
I’m getting Married in July and most of my family and friends have kids. My fiance and I remember how much weddings SUCKED when we were kids so we’d like the kids to have as much fun as possible. Either a park, or a hotel or SOMETHING that offers them a playground, or a water park, something that these kids are gonna remember as a fun experience. We’d love an outdoor wedding if possible. The kids range in age from Newborn to 14 so we’d need a lot of help finding the right place.-
ANSWER:
Well, what you could always do is rent a park area, then bring in party rentals for the kids. There are lots of places that will set up some rides, games, jump houses, etc.
It might be easier to bring everything in yourself rather than finding the right venue for newborns-14 year olds.
Check out some parks that the cities offer for rental and then look into some party rental/supply stores. This way you can include something for all ages to enjoy.

QUESTION:
For those who had outdoor weddings/beach weddings?
Did you have any kind of method in picking a day with good weather?Or was it total luck?
What would you have done/did you do if the weather had been cold or rainy? Did you have a back up?
I stay at a beach in South Australia for a month every summer and there is usually only a week of good weather. I would love my wedding to be there if the weather was more predictable.-
ANSWER:
I’m getting married this weekend outdoors, and our weather has been basically total crap all summer. So much rain, it’s unbelieveable. I keep checking the Weather Network and it changes every single day, so I’m not looking at it anymore! If we need a Plan B, our venue has a terasse that we’ll have the ceremony on. Not nearly as good, but it will do. It will be decorated in any case, as that is where the cocktail is planned to be held anyway. Fingers are crossed for sunshine all weekend!

QUESTION:
what kind of food is good for outdoor summer weddings?-
ANSWER:
Depends on what kind of wedding it will be (Fancy or casual), and how much you want to spend. If the reception is real laid back and informal, a barbecue would be nice (although a bit unconventional). If it will be more formal and traditional, finger sandwiches, cold cuts, cheeses, vegetables, and fruit trays would do.

QUESTION:
Texas Outdoor Weddings?
We would like a beach wedding, but the Texas Beaches don’t look very appealing. Does anyone know any resorts or nice place besides beaches to have an outdoor wedding around Feb time frame.-
ANSWER:
I’m getting married on a Texas beach in Port Aransas. Sure, the beaches aren’t quite as spectacular as Mexico, Florida, or Cali; but this is where we spent our vacations growing up! Texas does have beautiful sunsets, so we are planning an evening wedding–plus, since it’s in June it’ll be a bit cooler in the evenings.

QUESTION:
Ideas for Outdoor Weddings?
I live in Arkansas. Going to have the Wedding on Private property.
Just need ideas on how to plan it, and what I need for an outdoor wedding.
I’m on a very tight budget. We don’t have that much money at all.
So that’s why I’m having it on private property, because that part will be free.
Otherwise, If we had the money we’d have it somewhere else.-
ANSWER:
Have a very multi colored wedding, get friends to bring their favorite team tent, or any kind of tent, ie: lawn furniture and lawn chairs and lounge chairs. Have a couple of tables set up, use the bright plastic table covers, try party city to get the 8 ft. which are most tables you can rent or use from your church, have one in say red and one covered in yellow, one for food and one for drinks, use multi colored plates and cups, like a medieval fair and make plumes, flags, whatever out of crepe color in the primary colors, red, blue, green, yellow and orange and attach to top of each tent or one on each side to tie together. Buy the large plastic tubs at Walmart for canned drinks and beer, use generic drinks, anything tastes good when you are thirsty. Maybe have a cook-out hot dogs and burgers–it is all about being together and celebrating the marriage and having a good time with the newlyweds. For the wedding, you only need something to indicate the actual “area” which can be an arch or simply two flower stands with large fern on top with baby’s breath in and around fronds and have florist or local grocery store floral department make long stemmed carnations in bright colors, put in a water pick and insert in and around fern fronds. Just something for the minister/officiant to stand behind and you in front of. For music use a boom box, get someone to be in charge or one of those new ipod, blue ray, box, cd music thingers. Have assorted cupcakes, with different colored icing or white with multi sprinkles. A cupcake tower can be made out of simply using upside down wine glasses and have the largest cake/serving (flat) plate on the bottom, the next layer smaller and then the smallest on top. Fruit displays on styrofoam levels, held together by fern pins, florist has, cover with green foil paper and then use mustard greens and kale to cover/wash, dry/keep chilled till setting up display. Use coolwhip, sourcream with powdered sugar anda tot of vanilla, same with veggies, use yellow, green, red bell pepper rings for color. Use onion soup mix, mix with sour cream to taste for veggie dip. Use store bought $ store fruit punch and add pineapple juice and some sierra mist or 7-up. Or make up kool-aid by package directions and to each I think 2 quarts add 1 large can chilled, well-shaken pineapple juice, a good punch, also equal parts apple juice and white grape juice, freeze in gallon jugs and serve slushy, looks like champagne. Serve lemonade and iced tea with very thin lemon rings on top out of glass gallon jugs. Have citornella candles/torches also. Then relax and have fun.

ANSWER:
Oh my gosh! Theres so much you can add to your summer outdoor wedding! I had a spring outdoor wedding and it was beautiful!!I would make paper fans and tag your wedding date and names on it. leave one on each chair for your guests… I also did a “clothing line” instead of clothes I pined our photos from when we were little to the most recent and as guests arrived to the ceremony site they could take a look and then take a seat as they waited for the start.
Have fun enjoy your wedding everything goes by so fast you just need to be happy! Congratulations the best of luck to you!

QUESTION:
The outdoor wedding reception: Any tips, suggestions, ideas, horror stories, success stories etc?
I am STILL throwing around ideas for my wedding reception (our families range from being fairly elegant to super casual, which can make it difficult), but I am thinking of sort of an outdoor, picnic/BBQ in a park near a river. Very picturesque. Still, I am worried about cakes melting, bugs, decor, weather, you know the usual. Any tips, suggestions, ideas, horror stories of outdoor weddings, or success stories of outdoor weddings (mostly receptions) that you have heard of?-
ANSWER:
I’m planning my wedding reception outdoors as well for the same reason. I’m lucky it’s at my parent’s home so bugs will not be an issue. My dad sprays 3 times a week a month before each event he throws at our house. You may want to see if you can do that if you choose the park.
You also need a tent. I don[t care for tents myself.. but you have to have one. What if it rains? Also… the tent will prevent your cake from melting and guests will have a comfortable place to sit out of the elements. You could decorate it with lot’s of colorful fabric/paper lanterns. We have huge can lights in the colors of our wedding so at night our tent will be blue and green inside while people dance. I wouldn’t worry about decor too much… you have to realize you can decorate an outdoor wedding the same as you would an indoor wedding reception. You still need table linens- you could pick some really awesome colors which would set the mood, and I would do some relatively simple flowers. I’m ordering white orchids from fiftyflowers.com in bulk and arranging them in glass vases 15 prays to vase. Also, we bought a ton of candles so at night the tent glows.
The easiest way to serve guests dinner is a buffet. I personally don’t love buffet, but they don’t need electricity and everything stays warm. You’re also going to want to get some big tubs you can fill with ice and stock with water, soda, whatever you may be drinking. On top of that we just got back from buying a ton of liquor, we’ve hired two bar tenders to tend a rented bar. Youre also going to have to consider hiring help, because you’re not in a hall and it makes it easier to clean up.Is there a power source near this river? If so you could rent a dance floor, get some extension cords, and have a DJ. If not you could always hook your ipod up to one of those portable ipod players and be able to havemusic and dancing that way.
Have you thought about bathrooms? If there are not bathrooms very close, you will need to rent portapottie (ick)… it’s not classy, but a must.
What are you thinking for colors? Are you traditional? I have so many decoration ideas for outdoor weddings but I need to know more about you

QUESTION:
Outdoor weddings, how to plan in case of inclement weather?
I know that it is always important to have a plan b if you are going to have an outdoor wedding but how do you do this when you are renting tents and tables?? We want to go ahead and rent all of our stuff and have them deliver it on the big day, but what if the big day is nasty and raining. The tents are climate controlled but i had planned on having a few tables under the tents and a few in the grass…i guess i could put them all under the tent. But i would really just rather have the wedding indoors if it is yucky on wedding day. Will I get my money back if we end up not using the tables and tents outside? What to do!!!??-
ANSWER:
Your best bet is to talk to your rental company. They do have contingency plans for this. I organize company gatherings & ground breaking ceremonies & have dealt with bad weather (I’m in Florida too!). I’ve had to speed order fans when we had 90 degree temps in January & tent sides when we had winds whipping dirt off a job site. I would never have been able to do it with the company’s coordinator. You might also want to consider hiring a day of coordinator or a trusted friend or family member who might not be attending the wedding. You really might need someone to be staring at the sky with their fingers ready to call in fans, tents, etc.

QUESTION:
Outdoor weddings: how do you make them less miserable?
I really want an outdoor wedding because I think they look beautiful but I must admit at every outside wedding I’ve been to I hated it because it was too hot and their was also mosquitos feasting on my legs. The one where I was a bridesmaid at was the most miserable because the sun was in my face and I was standing there sweating in my dress. I want one but I don’t want me or my guests to be miserable is there a way to make it less miserable. Keep in mind that I live in NC and I’m planning on marrying in July.-
ANSWER:
You might set out some baskets for the guests with little bottles of bug repellent creme and little bottles of sunblock/moisturizer. I’d look for brands that had less scent or at least a less offensive scent. You could have some little fans and some cheap sunglasses too.I’d do a morning ceremony. In my experience, bugs are more prevalent in the late afternoon to nightfall. After dark, they are attracted to light. Wind starts becoming a problem in the afternoon as well. So, all in all, in the summer, mornings are the most pleasant time to be outdoors.

QUESTION:
Outdoor weddings and Bathrooms?
I’m planning an outdoor vintage style wedding on private property. Bathrooms seem to be an issue. I’ve read reviews where porta loos are a no go. But really why? I particularly don’t want people trapsing in and out of my home to go to the toilet. Im invisioning (since we are going vintage) an old style outhouse with proper facilities of course and a trailor type porta jon with handicapped facilities. Does that really sound like a bad idea? Whats the hang up about with jons at a wedding/party? They are at all festivals and such. Just curious…cause I got some odd stares from family members when I mentioned it.-
ANSWER:
Make sure you pay for nice trailer type johns with a/c and running water to wash hands with. Not the johns you see on construction sites. Why are people looking at you crazy? Because we all hate porta johns. And we all think stink when we hear about them. Get the ones that don’t stink and you’ll be fine.

QUESTION:
Are outdoor weddings legally valid in the UK??
My friend wants to get married in the woods, or in a park, or somewhere else similar in the great outdoors. If they exchange their vowels etc. outdoors, will the wedding be valid?Cheers.
Thanks to everyone who has provided useful responses without feeling the need to comment on my poor grammar, my friend will be really pleased with the info you’ve kindly provided…those of you who have felt the need to comment, all I can say is that I went to school with Jady Goody & we ain’t all born with a silver spoon in our mouths.-
ANSWER:
Not legally, no, sadly!!! It has to be in a licensed premises, there are all sorts of funny rules, here I checked this out for you on Confetti.co.uk:If you want to get married in a civil venue in England or Wales, there are over 3000 to choose from, from hotels and stately homes to zoos and football grounds. A civil venue has to fill various criteria — it must have a roof, be moored to its foundations, and licensed by the local registrar
One way around this is to have your legal ceremony (perhaps a few days before the outside wedding) and then have a member of the Humanist Society come and officiate at your outdoor ceremony. This is not legally binding but can be arranged so that you say vows and it would have all the elements of a normal marriage.

QUESTION:
Reasonably Priced Outdoor Weddings in Atlanta?
Boyfriend and I have decided we want an outdoor wedding next year. We both live in north Atlanta/Dunwoody, and I’m looking around and finding way too many things out of the price range. We need a place that has an indoor space for if it rains, and we’d like the ceremony to be outdoors as well. We’re not picky about the city it is in, so any locations in the Metro Area (maybe anything within 40 minutes of Perimeter) are fine.
We’re probably going to be going with maybe 100 guests. Budget will be less than ,000 for the entire thing (including food, drinks, dress, cake, invites, etc).
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

ANSWER:
Okay I know you just want straight out answers but trust me its hard finding people on here from the same town as you. I would highly recommend joining www.theknot.com. Its an absolute amazing site. Its free and only takes 5 minutes to sign up for. You can then search for wedding related things in your own town, it ask what state youre from then what town, and then you put in what you’re looking for. Wedding ceremony & reception sites, photographers, caterers, hair stylists, etc and it comes up with lists (and pictures) of all that so its awesome to help with your planning. There you can find all kindfs of ceremony and reception sites and it rates them from 1 $ to 4 $s to show you how expensive. They also have community forum boards and they have one for each home town so find one closest to you and post this question on there… you’ll more than likely get much more helpful results because there will be tons of bride to bes on there that live near you! GL & congrats

QUESTION:
Good locations for outdoor weddings in Minnesota?
My fiance and I just got engaged (yippie) and we’re looking for a good outdoor location. I really like the idea of getting married by a waterfall. We don’t have a huge budget for location. Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you
Additional details:
-We live near the twin cities but would be willing to get married anywhere within Minnesota or nearby in surrounding states.
-We have not finalized a guest list but it’s looking like it’s going to be at least 120. This has been our biggest issue with finding a place. It would be also nice (but not necessary) if we could set up chairs.
-We know we want to get married outdoors but the more we look into it.. we’re liking a few different ideas… the waterfall idea, a japanese garden, or just in front of a giant tree on a hill somewhere.
-
ANSWER:
MN is a big state, you don’t say where in MN you will be asking your family and friends to travel. Here is a map with MN waterfalls identified. http://gowaterfalling.com/waterfalls/maps/stateminnesota.shtmledited to add:
You might think about Marjorie McNeely Conservatory (formerly Como Conservatory). Considering MN weather, you’d be taking a chance by not having an indoor alternative. This gives you an incredible backdrop for your wedding, both the floral rooms and the Japanese gardens for pictures, and they have a gorgeous lawn area as well as indoor reception facilities. Another place to consider is the MN Landscape Arboretum.

QUESTION:
Whats the best lens for taking photos of people (at weddings or outdoor events) using a Canon Rebel XT DSLR?-
ANSWER:
I’m guessing the ‘Rebel XT’ is the 400d. Which has a cropped frame sensor. I’d suggest an EF 85mm fixed and/or a EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM to be fair, theres no set lens for this job, its all based upon the enviroment, image stabilastion is a must, I’d also suggest a fixed flash unit that supports TTL/E-TTL. You’ll need to fork out a bit of cash on this one, but in the long run its worth it, the body of your camera is nothing, you’ll find the lenses will live you right through the range.

QUESTION:

when your dressed up as a guest at a wedding it always seems to happen your having a great time and the “BAM”your outfit (some times brand new ) gets nailed with a stain or stains i would love to know does it happen more so at outdoor wedding recptions or indoor ones and if it has happen to you ( as a guest ) how did it happen were you outside or inand was your outfit brand new and was it ruined or were you able to save it-
ANSWER:
Sorry, male viewpoint here.
Indoor stains are more predictable. Mostly food and drink.
Outdoor stains can involve plant stains, animal stains, charcoal, dirt, possibly even grease and oil. Also, since people tend to stand outdoors, there is more chance of people bumping into each other.

QUESTION:
Outdoor weddings near Derry, PA?
I have never been to PA, however my fiances entire family either lives in Derry or 30 minutes away from Derry. We were talking about getting married in PA however I have no clue what the closest largest city would be or any reception halls for a wedding near Derry (to be honest I have never even heard of Derry, PA) I was born and raised in the big city of Las Vegas, NV.-
ANSWER:
There are two Derrys in Pennsylvania. One is near Bloomsburg and one is near Pittsburg. Figure out which one you’d be near and then use The Knot’s “Local” boards and ideas to find things nearby. That’s beautiful county out there (with the exception of the city of PIttsburgh itself!) so a place shouldn’t be hard to find.Good luck!
