  2. QUESTION:
    pocketfold wedding invitations?
hi does anybody know an inexpensive sight for paper to make pocketfolds? less than 1.50 a piec of paper. also does anybody know any templates for pocketfolds like these or anykinda dimensions with dirrections

    • ANSWER:
You really want to cut, fold and glue all those? Sounds like a headache to me. The ones at paper source are less than a dollar each:

      http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/envelopes/enclosures.html

And they come in several colors.

  3. QUESTION:
    Addressing children on wedding invitations?
I’ve read that the proper way to address couples with children on wedding invitations is to put Mr. & Mrs. on the outer envelope and then list the kids first names, oldest to youngest, on the inner envelope. I’m doing a pocketfold invitation for my wedding so there won’t be an inner envelope. How should I address the families I’m inviting?

Also, I think it’s a little weird to address divorced women who still used their married last name as Mrs. Can I just address them as Ms. or would that be rude?

    • ANSWER:
I was always addressed as Miss or Ms. in mail as a child. Young boys under 13 are often addressed as Master.

Another site suggests the children be addressed by first name only included in the invitation to thier parents.

  4. QUESTION:
Wedding invitations -outer and inner envelope?
Hi Everyone, okay this is going to sound like a dumb question, but I don’t understand what exactly an inner envelope is, I just received my invitations, and they are pocketfold invitations and I am planning on hand writing the outer envelope, but my invites didnt come with an inner envelope, just an RSVP envelope, what is this inner envelope and do I really need it?

    Thank you!!

    • ANSWER:
Back in the day (like the stagecoach days), they used to use two envelopes, so the inner one with the card wouldn’t get dirty or damaged and would still look nice after traveling all those miles. You were supposed to address just the names of the guests in the inner one, and then the regular address on the outer one. Basically, it was just extra protection.
Now, the post office isn’t so rough and people don’t really care. It’s really only carried on because of “tradition” and profit for printing shops. I’ve only seen them with very formal invitations. Since yours are pocketfolded, I don’t see why a second envelope would be necessary.

  5. QUESTION:
Has anyone ordered wedding invitations off Ebay?
Im looking for pocketfold type wedding invitations, and my colors are turquoise and gold. If you have bought some, if you could give me the buyer name. Any other website for cheap invitations would be great too. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
      try this website,

      http://www.willowtreelane.com/

      or

      http://www.theinviteoutlet.com/shop.html

      or

      http://www.bridalcraft.com/

I am sorry to say I do not know anyone that used ebay, however I used the first site..willow tree lane, and I had beautiful results, and paid less than 0 for 150 invitations.
My sister used bridal craft and loved it, and i heard a few good things about the 2nd website. I hope this helps a little.

  6. QUESTION:
Where can I find reasonably priced pocketfolds for DIY wedding invitations?
I am trying to make my own wedding invitations and would like to use the poketfold style. I ordered a sample from cardsandpockets.com, they have really decent priced pocketfolds ect, but the color was totally wrong and it looked kind of cheap. So now it’s back to square one! I looked at Michaels and didn’t find any pocketfold invitations, let alone any invitations that I liked.

I’m having a hard time finding decent priced sites online for pocketfolds and all the stuff that goes inside. Any suggestions? The colors of my wedding are tiffany blue, silver, and pink. I was looking to go w/ a tiffany blue pocketfold and use a pink layer behind the invitation.

My wedding is 9/5/09 and I stay at home w/ my 2 little girls who take up most of my time so I’m super stressed that I’m not going to have invitations ready to send out by my send out date! So any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

  7. QUESTION:
    pocketfold invitations?
I am having a formal wedding. For my invitations, I am using a style A7 pocketfold, and am also including a belly band to keep the pocketfold closed. The belly band will have our names on them, so when the guests open the outer envelope and pull the pocketfold out, they will see our names on the belly band. The flap will be facing the guest. My question is this: where else can I put the first names of the invited guests, as I would have on the inner envelope. I am having a sit-down dinner, so it’s strictly RSVP. Or because I have this type invitation, the first names of the guests are completely omitted?

    • ANSWER:
There is no place to put the names, so you don’t worry about it.

  8. QUESTION:
Has anyone bought custom wedding invitations on ebay?
I want the best custom made invitations. I can’t even get a local custom wedding designer to answer the phone to set up an appointment. The designer custom invites are about 11 to 15$. The Ebay sites look the same and they seem to run about 3 to 5$ WOW. Is it worth the time, quality and risk of mistakes.

    • ANSWER:
you need to order a sample first and then you could see the quality of the invitation personally if you feel that it is worth it then go right ahead. I buy alot of things on ebay and feel that you could get some really good prices for things that could be really expensive somewhere else.

    105# cardstock, hard to fold?
I found the perfect color to make my pocketfold wedding invitations with, however, they are 105# cover cardstock and I’m afraid they will be hard to fold and keep their shape. Anyone here ever used 105# cardstock before?

    • ANSWER:
It’s all good – you’ll have no problem.

  11. QUESTION:
How do I wax seal my wedding inviations?
I am making my own invitations for our wedding and am using pocketfolds where part of the pocketfold flaps over the front of the invite. I would like to use wax to seal them shut, but am wondering how I should go about doing that. Once the wax isopened up, will it stick again? Should I use two envelopes so the wax doesn’t get ruined in the mail?
I think there is some faux wax or something that is guarenteed not to break?

    • ANSWER:
Most wedding invitations do come with that inner envelope, and that’s probably a good idea for the wax seal. I haven’t used this sort of thing in a long time, but the wax gets hard and kind of breaks when you open the envelope, so I would think it couldn’t be sealed again. But maybe they make something newer that works better. Have you tried a craft store? They could probably steer you in the right direction on this.

  12. QUESTION:
What can I put on the outside of my wedding invitation?
I am getting ready to make my own DIY wedding invitations and am having a hard time deciding what to put on the outside. I wanted to do a buckle/ribbon slider but those are turning out to be a bit expensive…unless anyone knows where I can get them in bulk. So I was thinking about using some ribbon but am not sure what to do w/ it and was looking for suggestions. The invitation is a Tiffany blue pocketfold, so I was thinking of using white or silver ribbon (my colors are tif. blue, silver, and pink).

    • ANSWER:
      An envelope.

Actually, the ribbon sounds nice, and probably is an even better choice than a buckle/ribbon slider. Less is more in matters of refinement and elegance. Be sure to use impeccable craftsmanship so that it doesn’t look like a scrapbooking project.

  13. QUESTION:
    Wedding Invitation Inserts – DIY?
I am designing my own invitations and assembling them as well. The design that I chose is enclosed in a pocketfold with the invitation matted in the center with 3 inserts in the right pocket.

I’ve already ordered all of my stationary which arrives tomorrow and I want to have my design completed today so that I can take everything to the printers tomorrow and have them sent out in a few days.
The problem that I have run into is that I had originally planned to have the 3 inserts labeled:
Directions, RSVP, and Out Of Towners

However, now I am second guessing the “out of towners” insert. Everyone is invited to both the reception & ceremony so I have no need for a reception card. If I do include the out of town insert, I wanted to include information on accomodations, dining, and attractions (since 95% of my guests are coming in from out of state). I loved the idea of having an out of town packet ready for when they arrived in town with local goodies and such.

What is your opinion? Is there a different type of insert that I could send instead of “out of town”? How did you title your “out of town” insert?
I created a website with theknot.com, and I’m able to send out newsletters with updates – which I tend to do about once per week or every 2 weeks.

    • ANSWER:
I would do Directions, RSVP, and Accommodations.

What I did was I put a guest bag in each room at the hotel. I got a group rate at one hotel and then just dropped off bags there. I included some water bottles, some snacks, and information about how to get different places. For example, I went to Chamber of Commerce and got several city maps. I also included written directions to the nearest mall, movie theater, and to the Bride and Groom’s house–since many people had never been to our house.

If there is something special to the area, put that on there. For example, a planetarium or aquarium that is very nice or if you live in an area with special things, like a nice winery or like Vermont’s syrup farms include directions to that.

For me, I included a map in there. I made a small map for visual people with Corel Draw. I drew the large roads on there and put little pictures for Rehearsal, Church, Reception and hotel on there. I typed the written directions on the back but I was able to do that b/c it was so simple. The road the hotel was on was the same road to get to the Rehearsal and Church. The only think that took more than 2 lines for directions was to get to the reception.

  14. QUESTION:
What inserts to add to a pocketfold invitation?
    So far we have:

    1. Directions (Addresses with Map)
    2. Accommodations (Several local hotels with pricing)
    3. Response (with envelope)

I know many people do a reception insert-What goes on this? I already have the address on the directions insert so wouldn’t this be covered?

Anything I am missing and need to add?

    What do you think of a ‘things to do’ insert? Our wedding is not local for many and will be during the summer in a tourist town so I thought some out-of-towners might like a bit of a guidebook….where to eat, what’s going on, etc;

We have decided to serve the meal buffet style. Should I add in what will be available?

    Thank you.

    • ANSWER:
What you have sounds fine. Keep it simple. Three inserts is plenty though if you want to go above and beyond, go ahead. Just make sure the value of the information to your guests is worth the effort on your part.

      Good luck.

  15. QUESTION:
    Wedding invitation help please?
I am having pocketfold invites, the format is like this

    http://cardsandpockets.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=171

but I have no idea what to write on the 4 inserts that go in them.

I can’t put directions or accomodation ones in because I’m getting married at a well known hotel so everyone knows where it is and they will be going home after so wont need a hotel, so I’m 2 ideas down already.

The only thing I have got is the RSVP that fills one of them so I actually only need 3 ideas.

If you were a day guest and/or evening guest what informaion would you like to know?

    Thanks in advance

    • ANSWER:
Even though everyone knows the hotel address, do it anyway just because you can. You’ll be glad you did it in 25 years, and it will be a nice keepsake from the day.

How about some poetry, or if you’re religious, maybe a verse from the Bible, or a favorite scripture? Or a flowery saying about everlasting love … (The invites are beautiful, btw).

How about a favorite charity that people can donate to in lieu of gifts? (Hey, I’m just throwing it out there … ).

Is there a family member that you would like to honor with a rememberance ?

Can you print something other than writing on it, or does it have to be a written item? How about a nice, grainy, faded black and white image of the two of you printed on one of them?

Or … how about a blank card that they can use to put notes to the happy couple on, to be collected before the night is over, on which they tell you what was their favorite part of the ceremony or reception? Like, at the top of the card, it would say, “Please tell Jane and John your favorite memory of today” … something like that ?

Best of luck to you !!

  16. QUESTION:
How do I become a wedding/ event planner?
I love weddings! And parties! But what I love most about them is not actually PARTYING (except at my wedding LOL), it’s the planning! I love designing and executing the invites! I adore all flowers and creating beautiful centerpieces! I obsess over color palettes and patterns… I’m addicted!

I just planned my little sister’s bridal shower and it was a TOTAL hit! It was a petal-pink and black damask theme, with home-baked cupcakes, finger sandwiches, macaroons, and tons of coordinating details!

For my own wedding, I’m doing it ALL myself. I designed and executed the invitations; an entire suite with pocketfold closure. I even made the pocketfolds myself! I’m making all of the BM gifts myself. I’ve already designed the floral arrangements and the rest of the paper products. And the wedding isn’t until May! LOL

Everyone tells me that I really have “a calling”. It’s something I absolutely LOVE doing, and I’d love to be able to make a living doing it. But I have no idea where to start… Should I call local planners and ask to shadow them? Or maybe get a job with them? And how do I get my foot in the door with local vendors? Any and all help and advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

OH, and I already have a name… ‘Fete’ :) What do you think?

    • ANSWER:
My wife did a lot of research into wedding and event planning. BE VERY CAREFUL of what you are getting yourself into. When you start looking at what the demands of the job are, you may be quick to see that it isn’t for you…. my wife certainly did, and I’m glad she did.

The first biggest problem is the schedule…. Most events will be occuring on weekends, that means you can pretty much plan on never having a Friday night, Saturday, or Sunday availble as free time… you will be working every weekend when everyone else will be having fun. Then on top of that, since your clients also have jobs, you will be expected to meet with them out side of regular business hours. This means that you can pretty much wipe any time up to about 9 pm off of your free time schedule. The scheduling reason alone was the primary reason for my wife deciding not to pursue wedding planning. There’s no way you could have a healthy relationship with a husband, let alone a family if all of your time is devoted to planning other people’s party.

Another problem is the people you are planning for. When you help plan for a friend or family member, you are doing it to help… But when someone is paying, the tables turn big time. You become a slave to the clinet, and clinets can get mean and angry with you, they don’t appreciate you help nearly as much as friends and family do when you are planning for free.

Wedding and event planning is a very high stress, high sacrafice job.

If you are going to call local planners, don’t suggest “shadowing” them… do you really think your future competition is going to teach you how to compete with them? You can try to get a job as an assistant, then once you have a feel for it, break off and go on your own… but definatly don’t ask to “shadow them”.

Just make sure you understand what you are getting into… and remember that what you love to do in your spare time, is rarely a good career choice. Once your pleasure becomes work… its difficult to enjoy anymore.

    • ANSWER:
Penn Foster has a great course on Bridal Consulting and you always go to the Association of Bridal Consultants website.

What your describing isn’t necessarily the planning of a wedding. You need to know how to work with various vendors, how to find a location, timelines are very important, have a backup plan or two, etc.

I am trying to think of an acronym for LUV?
I am making wedding invitations and the inserts are going to be tiered in a pocketfold. I want to have one letter sticking out on each tier. I want words that have to do with weddings or love.
I came up with love, unforgettable, and vowes but I am not really digging the vowes.
I am open to other ideas, such as our initials. I am C, he is J and our last name will be M.
I thought about doing live love laugh too….
I am open to any ideas, there are three teirs!

    Thanks!
Okalaya, you are w weirdo. Live Love Laugh is a saying that is EVERYWHERE. I have never seen it for luvs though.
Do you have a creative or romantic bone in your body, weddings are cheesy, everything about them is!
I recommend you don’t resond to anyone looking for creative ideas ever again.
    Thanks!
