     Then distribute them to bridal shops, bakeries, photographers. You might want to make up a few examples to put on display in these places so people can see your work.

   Inexpensive silk wedding bouquets or flowers in Arizona?
   I’d like to find two silk bouquets for my wedding, which is Dec. 2. The flowers can be white and/or blue (the wedding colors are silver and various shades of blue) and I’d like to find (or, failing that, make, but we’re kind of pressed for time here) arrangements inexpensive enough that I can get a decent-sized one for myself and one for my maid of honor without going much beyond the range.      I’m not buying the bouquets pre-made, but I’ve made the bouquets out of good silks. I like them because, in addition to saving money, they’re done and I don’t have to worry about them. I also don’t have to worry about not getting what I want. I just played around with them until I got something I loved.

   Getting married August 15, 2010, colors are black, green, white, and our theme is a cross with nature and lovebirds.       I’ve been looking around but all the cheap places have slipped my mind because the flowers looked cheap, but I guess, for your purposes it doesn’t much matter.

      You might also search for bridesmaid bouquets instead of bride bouquets since they’re a lot cheaper, and the smaller size just means they’re more kid-friendly!

      And there’s a huge dollar store near me that has tons of fake flowers, bouquets, etc; so you might try a dollar store.

    How to store silk wedding flowers?
    I have a brand new silk flower bridal bouquet, but the wedding isnt for 2 years! Is there anything I can do to store the bouquet to keep it looking as pretty and fresh as it does now?

      Keep it in a dry location, place a bag over it to keep the dust off, and keep it out of sunlight and away from lightbulbs as constant light will start to fade the colors. Also don’t lay the flowers down to get crushed, keep them in a vase or something to keep them in their current shape.

    Im getting married next April, & am wanting to save money and make my own bouquets with silk flowers. I know nothing about flowers. My colors are cornflower blue (from david’s bridal) bm dresses for the ladies and I really want to accent it with a dark purple flower for their bouquets. My dress is ivory & I am wanting a mix of light blue and cream for mine.

      I used cornflower blue in my wedding! (Isn’t it GORGEOUS???)

      Anyways: I think a great idea for yours would be to use silk hydrangea (They typically don’t look like silk flowers, they come in cream and blue, and you only need a few bunches to make a big bouquet!)

      For your girls, maybe look into grape hyacinths and purple hydrangea.

      Make sure the bouquets are wrapped with nice wide silky ribbon, and toss a few pearl pins in it to make it really look realistic.

      OK, here’s the thing about silks from a florist’s daughter:

      Nice silks are pricey. Also, a florist has to do the same amount of arranging regardless of medium, so they charge the same. However, individual silk stems can be cheaper than real flowers if the real flowers are rare, out of season, or just generally expensive. Silks are what I am going with though, as they last forever and are less of a hassle on the wedding day itself. I am adding little feather accents into mine too.

      Here’s a good video series if you want to try making it yourself, it isn’t that hard if you have an eye for balance. Or find one you like in a photo and copy it as best as possible!

    I want to make silk bouquets for my wedding. I want them stem area to be thick so I can wrap it with ribbon like a real bouquet, but how do i keep the flowers from sliding up and down? I know they have those foam balls in holders, but are the handles thick enough to make a hand-tied style bouquet?

      use either wire or hot glue to keep the stems in place then get Florists tape and wrap the stems. This way you can control the thickness. Plus if the ribbon happens to slip you wont be seeing wire and glue you just see green like a stem.

      You found one online? Only one? I spoke to at least 4 florists before choosing one for my wedding. I set my spending limit at 0 because that was 10% of my total budget. And since I had no centerpieces, it only came to 0 including delivery for the bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres. Now where you live prices could be much higher or lower, but you have to shop around and read reviews on weddingwire.com to find a florist you work well with.

    My wedding is in less than 4 months and I would love to do silk flowers bouquets for myself and my bridesmaids.       With a silk flower bouquet, you (or the person who catches the bouquet) has a lovely keepsake for the rest of your lives.

      Alternately, if you’re looking to save money, I have friends who’ve gotten their flowers at a big discount from a floral design school. The students get to practice and the brides get to save big! I’ve also seen farms/u-pick places that will let you grab a HUGE bucket of flowers for a low price.

      Michaels has top of the line silk flowers and are having a 40-50% off sale on their silk flowers right now! They are much cheaper than real and last forever! Both you and your bridesmaids will have something to remember your wedding by getting to keep your bouquets. And by using silk centerpieces, you can give them away as door prizes in your reception so some of your guests have something to remember as well! I think if you’re having an outdoor wedding and conerned with heat and weather and the effects it may have on your flowers, then silk is definately the way to go!

    Price difference between silk and real flowers for wedding?
    i contacted a silk florist from michigan (i’m in ohio) to price an entire wedding set for
    5 bridesmaid bouquets,
    1 cascading bride bouquet,
    9 boutinieres
    and 5 corsages in the specific flowers that i want (sunflowers, lilacs and sage roses) and it came to 2 shipped. If I would opt for “real” flowers, would the florist charge a lot more?
    I am actually crafty and would consider making my own, but I’m afraid of making them look obviously home made.

      I definitely think real flowers from a florist would be alot more expensive, im ordering wholesale roses from fiftyflowers.com and for 125 roses its a little over 0 and im putting the bouquets and bouttenieres together myself, but we are not doing flower centerpieces

    The colors I am looking at having are a deep yellow, deep orange and a rusty red. I am getting married in September and the girl’s dresses are a sage in color. Do you think that would be a good match?

      Theres nothing wrong with using silk flowers for a wedding. I have seen some really pretty silk bouquets. I am not sure if they should match but definately should cordinate with the bouquets. I think you probably could use similar colors, just make sure everything cordinates well together. Just do what you like, after all its your special day. And good luck. One word of advice though-make sure you have people around you that will actually help instead of causing chaos. Because its lots of planning and something is almost always forgotten.

    Cost of Wedding Bouquets?
    I’m trying to work within my budget for my wedding. I want to use the following two bouquets in my wedding. The first is mine and the second is for my maids. I really don’t want to get in touch w/ a florist quite yet, b/c I’m sort of still a little far from my date. Plus, I want to be informed on about how much a design like this can cost. I’m all for doing my research and homework, so I can speak confidentely w/ the florist and be able to negoiate prices.

    So, I was wondering if anyone knows about how much these two would cost. They are both silk, in the pictures. But, I want real flowers for my wedding.

    Also, how much did you spend on flowers for your wedding? What kind did you have, etc.

      Hi there! You don’t have to make your own icing flowers in order for the cake to look spectactular. You can use fresh flowers or silk flowers!

      I took this idea from a book: Decorating Cakes: A reference and Idea Book. It’s by the Wilton School and they sell it at Michaels. If your mother in law wants to see an illustrated view of what’s going on, tell her to get the 40% off coupon from her Sunday paper and buy this book. It’s cheaper that way!

      Silk flowers arranged in a crystal-look bowl are a beautiful alternative to fresh and the arrangement becomes a lasting reminder of our spectacular cake. Assemble using floral foam designed for dry arrangements.

      You’ll need a nice, lightweight plastic bowl and floral foam from your local arts and crafts store.

      Place the foam inside of the bowl, perhaps secure the foam with a little bit of double stick tape, and arrange the flowers by pushing stems into foam. Position the bowl on the cake.

      Now, if you’re just putting individual flowers on the cake and they don’t have stems, there are things called flower spikes that you can buy at Michaels and attach to the flowers. You could use a hot glue gun, etc.

      If you have stems, make sure that there are no pointy edges that can poke you when taken out, and you can put them on the cake that way, by inserting the stem.

    Wedding flowers – bought silk but now getting real, what kind?? where to buy?
    I bought silk flowers but now with only a month to go til the wedding i am wanting to do real flowers, i was thinking that i could buy them at safeway or a QFC and do them myself… i took floral design in high school so im pretty familiar with putting bouquets together, my only thought is i dont know what flowers to use, i was thinking ivory roses and have my MOH do a smaller bouquet of ivory roses? What do you think? Thanks!

      Using all white flowers is a very classic/traditional look. As the other answer noted, they might get lost against a white dress. If your style is traditional you could use the light flowers and add some color with the ribbon and crystals. If you are looking for more contemporary, adding a splash of color to your bouquet with either colored roses of something more unique.

      Be sure to keep in mind that some types of flowers, known as succulents, require a great deal of care and water to keep looking fresh. Keep them in a vase as much as possible.

      You might be surprised how reasonable a local professional florist can be if you are flexible and willing to pickup at their shop. It is easy fill in work for them and less stress for you. This is your special day that will be captured in pictures forever.

    I need help with my wedding bouquets!?
    What flowers are you ladies using for your bridal bouquets? I am not a girly girl and I’m very very picky about the kinds of flowers that I like. I absolutely HATE roses, but I thought about having 1 single white rose in MY bouquet in memory of my grandparents who are no longer here. My wedding colors are turquoise and orange, and so far this is what I’ve found. I’m using afloral.com and artificial/silk flowers

    What are some reasonably priced options for silk flowers for my wedding?
    I am planning on making my bridal bouquet, bridesmaids, and centerpeices. Therefor, I would like to purchase them soon. I know gerbera daisy’s can be pretty cheap, and they’re pretty cute too. Just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions. I would just like to explore my options.

      You can rent centerpieces at craft stores, I was at Hobby Lobby yesterday and they advertised that they rented out silk flower centerpieces, arches, altar decor, etc. You could try a store like that and see if you can get a discount deal on those things. That way you could save money on those and splurge on the hand held arrangements. I also think that there isn’t much of a difference in prices between the different types of silk flowers, unlike real flowers.

    My mother wants to use silk flowers at my wedding, but I’m worried it will look cheap. What do you think? ?
    She wants to use fake flowers for everything…my bouquet, bouttenieres, corsages.

    My wedding is in March and the flowers I picked (daisies, tulips, clover) are in season. How much would we save using silk flowers?

    I’m really worried about what my MIL will think if I hand her a fake corsage!

      some silk flowers can look fabulous, and many cost more than fresh flowers. We used silk cala lillies at my son’s reception, for the centerpieces and over the archway, etc..but the bouquet and corsages, etc, were real. Saved a lot on the calas, but I don’t know what you would save on tulips.

    We are having a camo and purple wedding in 2014 and i am in need of a silk flower pattern to make the bouquet?
    We will be celebrating our 20th anniversary and I am wanting to do mossyoak camo and purple so am needing ideas for decorations. Thank you

      They have all kinds of purple flowers, so I would find the purple that you like best and tie the bouquet with some Mossy Oak ribbon. That would be really cute. You could do the same thing with decorations. Purple and use Mossy Oak ribbon, cut-outs, or anything else you can get your hands on.
      They sell material, flowers and everything in between in the Mossy Oak pattern (try google, ebay, etc.) and I’m sure you can come up with something spectacular

    My wedding colors are fuschia and orange. I have been searching and searching online to find a website that offers these colors of roses. I am also trying to decide if I am going to make my own, or just look to order pre-made bouquets/corsages/etc.

    PAT C — I know that all silk flowers come with fake stems. My problem is not all of the stems are the same color. Some are dark green, some are bright green, some are a red-ish color. Thats my problem.

      I am a florist and know exactly what you are talking about. They should be fairly easy to find, I am in Kentucky and I know for a fact that they are even sold in the craft section of Wal-mart. There is also a great store for wedding preparation in our area called Garden Ridge, I been able to find EVERYTHING I ever needed for weddings in that store, even balloon arches.       I like the first dress. It seems more “elegant beach” themed to me rather than the second dress. I don’t really care for the BM’s dresses but that’s just me. I like the color red you have chosen. If you do yellow, and if you’re getting married on the beach, I would shy away from the golden-yellow you picked; it would blend too easily in with the sand. I like the bouquet and it will look really nice and flow well with the first dress since you have the nice detail down the front. For your MOH why not have her in the same dress but carry a different colored bouquet? For example, say you do pick red and have yellow as an accent color. Have the BM’s wear red and have red and yellow gerbera daisies and then your MOH carry yellow daisies alone. It will help distinguish her but keep the pictures “uniform”. Best of luck!

    I’m looking for flowers for my bouquet and for my bridesmaids for a september wedding. I’m not set on a real bouquet or silk flowers but as long as the silk look real i’m fine with it.
