     I have to tell ya, your best bet is going to be on eBay. If someone knows they’ve got some cool vintage wedding stuff they will almost always put it on ebay. The prices are awesome and you can ask the seller questions if needed.

   Hi, I am having a 1940′s inspired retro wedding next year. My dress is actually from the 1940′s and I plan to wear a bird cage veil. Now I am in search of shoes to go with.

   The problem is I have a foot/ankle problem and cannot wear shoes with a heel greater than 1″. It would also be great if the shoe had an ankle strap. It has been difficult to find white retro shoes without a heel.

     You really can’t go wrong with eBay. Type in exactly what you’re looking for. The thing is anyone who has something like that is going to put them on eBay because that’s where people go to buy things like that. You can even set up an “alert” in ebay where they will email you daily with what you’re looking for.

   My wedding is Feb 12th. It’s going to be at a church that my family has been going to for 115 years. It’s very old, antique, vintage looking. My dress is a strapless, a-line all lace dress. I can’t find shoes anywhere though that match my dress. I want them to look vintage and have lace on them. I have looked everywhere. Been to a lot of stores. Looked online and I can’t find anything.    My wedding is in March, the bridesmaids dresses are tea length and sage green. I was planning on having them wear ivory peep-toe heels of their choice (they can’t agree on an exact shoe). What color jewelry is acceptable for them to wear? I actually already bought them each a different gold vintage necklace to wear for their gifts.

   Does gold jewelry clash with ivory shoes? My jewelry will be a pearl set.

     Since jewelry is usually worn on the neck or ears, vintage gold jewelry would be suitable no matter what the shoes look like. It might be a good idea for the shoes to be unobtrusive, so the jewelry will be notices, not the shoes.

    Different colored shoes with a shorter wedding dress?
    I have a white pencil wedding dress that hits a little above the knee (think 60s vintage) and would much rather wear a shoe that isn’t white, but I’m not sure if that’d be ok. I know different colored shoes are ok with regular gowns since hardly anyone sees them anyway, but everyone will definitely be seeing my shoes. So, would a different color shoe be alright, or should i just stick with white? I was leaning towards pink or grey (my colors are light pink, dove grey and spring green), so nothing to drastic. I did see a pair of red slingbacks that I liked a lot, but I thought that may be pushing it a bit.

      So long as you keep it tasteful, I can’t think of a good reason why you shouldn’t wear a colored shoe. My ‘something blue’ was a blue pair of satin slingbacks. While they weren’t visible under my full length dress, I did take every opportunity I could find to show those puppies off!

    I think the seamstress ruined my wedding dress?
    I brought in my vintage wedding dress to be altered. It was my mothers wedding dress
    The alteration was supposed to be, shorten the length of the dress and the sleeves.
    Today I went in for my second fitting and the dress is now much too short and lop sided.
    My shoe’s can plainly be seen even though I asked for the dress to be floor length.
    She started pinning the longer side in front of me in order to make that side shorter when i explained I need it to be longer so the shoes are not viable.
    Now she’s planning to add lace to the bottom to hide the flaw.
    I cant afford to purchase a second wedding dress.
    If I sue her how do I determine the value of the dress.
    Has anyone here had an simular experiance and how was it resolved?

    She is now claiming that I originally wanted the dress 3 inches above the floor and she cant fix that.
    Screw that !
    She can keep the dress and sell it to some chubby midget someday.
    I distinctly remember asking to make the dress floor length before the first fitting.
    Anyway I calmly walked out, went home and won another dress on Ebay for 30.00.
    Its a retired salesmen sample dress made by Casablanca.
    It needs a new zipper but has never been actually worn in a wedding.
    I got lucky on this one. I’ll be going to a better seamstress next time who specializes in wedding dresses for the second dress.

    Please learn from my mistake. Don’t let this happen to you too.
    Go to the very best seamstress you can find.

      Nope, it’s not. I’ve seen plenty of females with similar dresses on at prom. The whole point of prom is to dress as pretty as you can and that dress is def. going to do that. The shoes are cute too, the headband goes great with both. The outfit has a Greek Goddess feel to it.

      Hair; a Carrie Underwood Up do? Great for the royal wedding!
      Makeup; foundation, mascara, eye liner, dark pink (Plumb) or cream & black eye shadow, blusher.
      Put on your foundation. Then your eye shadow, put the pink or cream colour up to the top of your eye lid then use your black putting that about 1/4 of the way up the pink or cream went. Then your eye liner put on the inside of your base of your eye (bottom) on the corners of your eyes have a little triangle, this makes your eyes stand out.Then onto your mascara put a LOT on the top set none or not alot on the bottom set. Finish of with some blusher.
      Shorts mabey to go with your top?

      First of all, that dress is completely adorable.

      1. For the custom embroidery on your dress, start as soon as possible. I cannot emphasize that enough. Even basic wedding gowns take months to make and get fitted. Give yourself as much time as possible so you can be sure it’s ready in time for the wedding.

      2. Call a few local hair places in the area where you’re getting married. Let them know that you need an appointment for your wedding day. Most salons have a bridal package that includes the wedding day appointment AND a trial run a few weeks before. Choose the salon that has the most convenient time for you or the best price. Describe the style on the phone so that they can schedule the right stylist to help you. Then take in the photo the day of your trial run.

      3. If you don’t want to wear heels, wear a simple antique white or neutral metallic flat or slipper. Many brides wear these because they are so much more comfortable.     I’ve officially gone wedding decor crazy…and need help. Please!?
    I started with a love for peacock feathers and eclectic mixes. I’ve had to change my venue from the beach to an indoor reception in a room that is the exact replica of The Crystal Room at Tavern on the Green in NYC.

    My bridesmaids dresses are a royal lapis purple. The room has numerous chandeliers and gold chivari chairs. I’m in love with the mid-thirties fashion style. And, I’m wearing green suede shoes. My dress is vintage embellishment inspired.

    So – my dilemma: 30s/40′s feel, peacock feathers, purple, gold, crystals, green, vintage…I don’t want something matchy matchy…I love eclectic looks…but I’m scared it won’t look pulled together! Help…please!

    • ANSWER:
      From the sounds of it…you sound like you have pulled a lot together already. I am very excited about what you have thought about already! Whatever you do, I know things will look wonderful!
      Here are some of my ideas….
      I think the bouquets would look fantastic with the violet tulips, peacock feathers, and ivory calla lilies — however you could add either purple or ivory orchids if you think it needs a 2rd flower type. To bring in the gold, you can always wrap a gold ribbon around the bouquet stems and/or accent the bouquet flowers with sparkle gold ting!
      For the ceremony, I would make lapis purple pew bows with ivory calla lilies and peacock feathers on every other pew. By puttng them on every other pew, you can save yourself some money.
      I would have my BM’s carry bouquets with only white Heather flowers and lavender sprigs. I did this for a wedding once and it looked so amazing. I would also have you carry a pure poeacock cascading bouquet with a few lavender sprigs sporadically placed. How sexy!!!
      I would have the grooms men wear all black tie and vest or the same lapis purple as the BM’s. I would have the boutennieres be ivory calla lilies with lavender sprigs and a gold bow. I would have the flower girl be a mini bride because eventhough that is a very modern idea, it is so adorable. I would have the flower girl carry an ivory basket with lapis purple tulip petals. I think roses are silly and tulips are much more 40s anyhow.
      I would have your mothers wear lavender or the tan color of the peacock feathers and their corsages can be ivory lilies.
      I would have 3different centerpieces. You stated that you do not want matchy matchy, so that would allow for distinct and dramatic approach. I would have a third of your tables with high centerpieces (over 24inch high vases). I would have a third of your tables be a medium 11″ high vase filled with the smaller arrangement of the flowers. I would also have really small vases on the last third of the vases. The 24″ high vases can be filled with lavender, lapis purple tulips, ivory calla lilies, white Heather flowers, and Peacock feathers.
      I would have the 11″ vases filled with ivory calla lilies, lavender, and peacock feathers. I would have the small vases (maybe under 5″) be filled with only lavender and Heather flowers.
      I would tie this look all together by using ivory table cloths, ivory linens, clear cups, and gold plated silverware. I would use a lapis purple with lavender edging runner on al of the tables or large square placed in the center of the table that takes up all of the room of the table except for where the plates will go. I would also put tea candles all over each of the tables to give them a prettier ambience. You know, many people would say that a vintage idea would be to have the center pieces sit on mirrors but I would definitely put use the fabric idea because it would add more of your colors.
      You can order all of your extras (such as signing book, garter, pen, goblets, and all) out of peacock feathers. How cool would it be to have your guests sign with a peacock feather instead of an actual pen???
      I would serve only purple drinks. Grape Kool-Aid for the kiddos. Purple Martinis for the adults. And for the champagne toast have lavender sprigs put inside of the cup. Trust me the guests wont eat the lavender. LOL!
      Give your guest grape jelly wrapped in an ivory bow and small peacock embellishment. How adorable! This is a nice give away and rather inexpensive.
      I would stick to a traditional 3-tier wedding cake since you want to stick to the 30s/40s feel. You can spruce it up a bit by filling the open spaces with lapis purple tulips,white Heather flowers, and lavender sprigs. I would also do a great deal with the peacock motif instead of using actual peacock feathers, which will be cheaper for you and you H2B as well. Such as a peacock motif on your dessert napkins, and invitations.
      I think you are on the right track already.
      It’s just difficult at times to get all of your ideas down. But until you do, don’t buy anything else…You will just end up purchasing a lot of things that you don’t necessarily need.

    I designed my own vintage looking dress, just a bit shorter than tea-length, strapless with a polka dot bolero, all in off white and my amazing seamstress made it adorable.

      Definately brown shoes, black would look tacky. I would go with a good nude pair of tights unless you’re feeling adventurous you could go to Boston Store or Macy’s and get a pair of good HUE brand tights in a gold to match the trim.     Help me make with what i can wear with this dress to make it look more ok for a wedding?

    i’m 16 and don’t want to look to old. The dress is knee lenght and the bodice starts just before the waist which suits my shape.

    what can i wear with this dress colour wise?
    and what style of cardigan and shoes would look good?

    I would like my accessories to have a vintage feel maybe a vintage looking cardigan, any idea where i can get one in the UK’s high street stores? links please

      For a gown, I would look for something that has a vintage feel with a fantastic back, since you won’t have a veil blocking it – something like this, maybe?

50. QUESTION:
    i need help finding shoe! It’s peep toe, t-strap, with blue bow. Where can I find that particular shoe?
