Are you looking for an inexpensive way to draw attention to you and your groom during the ceremony? You don’t need to find a gazebo or create a Chuppah, which can be quite costly. Instead, make an arch of decorative fabric, flowers, vines, or for a really inexpensive design a party store could fabricate one out of balloons. Balloons are so cost effective and come in every color. You can even get metallic and iridescent to create a special look. Craft stores have a great selection of silk flower garlands, which with some wire could be made into an arch or wrapped around and existing arch. If you already have an arch in your ceremony design, you can wrap small decorative lights around it to give it a little twinkle.

If you are looking for a more sturdy design, arches can be rented an come in a variety of materials-you can have carved wood, wrought iron, plastic, and maybe even something fashioned out of a synthetic stone. If you are getting married in your own back yard, you can make this a permanent purchase for your garden and have something specifically sculpted for your day. Depending on the material, your arches may not need that much decoration. If you have something carved of stone or wood, there may be beautiful detailing that you don’t want to hide. The same may be true of the iron work. If you want to add some color, add small decorations here and there, but don’t feel that you need to cover every inch of your arch.

      See if you can rent potted palm trees or something for the background, or some sort of plant on a trellis. Some florists might already have something. It should be some sort of flowers or plants, at different heights, the taller in the middle. Or have a table, covered in a tablecloth with potted palms and ferns on it, with battery operated candles. It wouldn’t cost much either to make your own trellis, like three of 4×8 make into like a room divider with hinges and cover them with ivy and flowers. Just stake it down good.       get the arch and depending on the colour either paint it white with say some silver glitter on it or wrap some white crepe paper or material around it.

      depending on the colour theme you are having maybe just some live or silk flowers on the top and perhaps a big bow on either white or possibly the colour of your bridesmaids on either side. you could also twine some ivy or similar creeping plant around or through it.

      if you use live flowers perhaps ones that are the same as your/bridesmaids bouquets.

      There are many styles of Paper lanterns..Some made with nylon or silk. Different shapes sizes and colors. For the arch I would stay with white and get an unusual shape.       I just bought a garden arbour from Canadian Tire, they have one for 99$ plus tax. It is catalogue number 59-1730-8 and is called “Blossom Archway”. They have other models to choose from.. this appears to be the least expensive. We plan on using it for our wedding this December. Good luck!

      Click on one of the Sims -> Propose -> Marriage

      I just remembered that if both Sims are Young Adults, they won’t be able to marry until they either drop out of college or graduate.

      I am assuming you intend to use FRESH flowers not silk flowers. Decorating an arch or trellis is just like everything else in the world, you can do nothing at all OR just a few things OR go crazy. If you are going to have a professional decorator or florist do this then you can expect a price range of 0 (minimum) to 0. Yes, you can proably do it your self BUT you better know what you are doing or have some experienced help near by because there is a big difference between “the professional look” and “the homemade look.”

    Help we have the wedding arch (metal) sold from many florist, target etc. but it did not include a stand. This type of arch would be perfect to go into the ground but it’s for a church and reception site to be used on the floor. I live in union & essex county area.

      My cousin used an arch like this and it looked wonderful with her idea. Take oblong pots (for plants) and take bricks or heavy rocks. Put the arch inside it and secure it with the bricks. Cover your handy work with flowers, moss, or fabric. With some time and a little elbow grease it’ll look great.

      A lattice square either suspended from the ceiling (indoors) or supported by four poles. Hang flowers from the lattice work. Cover the top with sheer fabric if it’s visible. You may choose to let the fabric hang down the back as well to create a fabric “wall” behind you and keep the eye from wandering. Choose sturdy blossoms that can withstand heat and handling. (similar to a Jewish chuppah– most florists are used to this demand) OR
      Two pillars on either side of the area to mark the altar. You may place arrangements on top in a garden setting, with ivy cascading down the pillars. OR
      For a modern flair, lucite (clear plastic) pillars on either side of the altar filled with something interesting to the eye. I’ll go this route for my modern loft wedding by suspending strings of orchids inside the containers. OR
      If you don’t like flowers, consider pillars with various candles on them for an evening wedding or pillars with can lights (sort of mini-spotlights) on the ground pointing straight up. You can color them with gels (thin colored plastic that resists heat) for a theatrical effect.
      Really anything tall will work. Try to seek out a part of the room or outdoor space with a definite “wall” or background to enclose you. Otherwise you should create a backdrop of some kind to keep people’s attention on you. Then designate the area with two tall “somethings” ;) on either side of you. Don’t forget that the wedding party on either side of you and the aisle will help focus attention. Let you imagination go nuts! Have fun!

      I bought a 7ft peaked arch from Hobby Lobby for 20.00
      Its a nice one its just not decorated but you can buy tulle and flowers from any store and decorate it yourself…beats paying the high prices.

      Most people who played Sims 2 remember the wedding arch and miss it, so they just get a general arch (in the build section during game play) and decorate it. I suppose you could try looking in the exchange or the store, but making one is the easiest way in my opinion!

      You’ll have to check, just call the base and ask. But I’m pretty sure he has to be a Sgt or above to have it. Normally the color gaurd or some other brand can do it for you wherever you get married if you’re not getting married by the base he’s stationed at. But you’d honestly have to call and ask. The chaplin would know.

    I know Jason can’t carry a saber and i dont want him to. im asking if officer friends can do the arch for us.

      technically/by tradition it is for Officers only. there is no regulation specifcally prohibiting it.

      as an E4 he is not authorized the cutlass( that is for Chiefs Only) and the Saber is not required until you are an O4(LCDR).

      so unless he can find a bunch of officers willing to do it, you most likely will be unable to have it.

    Hi, I got a white pre-lit arch that’s metal from Michael’s… and the bases are small and circular, poles… if you know what the typical wedding arches look like, you know what I meas.

    Anyways I bought it to have above us, as we are getting married…but we will be in a church, on a floor that’s carpet or hard wood… will it balance okay? Or how do I make sure it does?

      For our daughter’s wedding, my husband made wooden bases for each side of the archway. They’re probably about 6×12″. He just slid the poles into holes drilled into them. They held the archway securely. He painted them white and they decorated them with the same type of flowers they had on the archway. It looked really pretty and she didn’t have to worry about it falling over.

      Okay, buying it doesn’t cause stuff to happen automatically.

      You need two sims that are engaged to each other to be on the same lot. They need to have their relationship at maximum or one might JILT the other and stop off. Lots of boo-hoos can happen.

      If you have above requirements, then get the wedding arch and cake and a bottle of champagne (on a table). Then prepare the area where the wedding will be. Good idea to have the banquet table there. You might also want to get a bar and hire a bartender. You may want to get a lot of chairs to line up in a row near the wedding arch so guests can sit down. If you still have money to blow, get other party things for the party. Take care of all potty needs and be sure to have plenty of energy and good moods.

      Then start inviting extra people over if you want huge wedding, and then also choose the mode to have a Wedding party. This way you are not limited to just a few people on the party menu.

      When they have all come, then be sure all no troublemakers are there to ruin the mood. Do what you have to do. Then have the bride and groom click on the wedding arch and the wedding will begin. All the guests will go and sit in the chairs. There will be fun animations. After it is done, you can do toasts with the champagne and also slide the cake.

    Non-commissioned officers and enlisted personnel can use a variation of the Saber Arch tradition called the Arch of Rifles for their military theme wedding. i was wondering what kind of rifle is used in this?
    And do you know where you can get them for the wedding?

    • ANSWER:
      M-1s, M-14s, or even M-16s can be used, depending upon what is available. You could inquire of a local American Legion or VFW post to see if they have any. I know our local guys here do. Getting them from a unit arms room is a bit dicier, but could probably be done if the proper requests are made. Nice thing about the drill rifles is they aren’t much use as a weapon except as a club, so accountability is a bit more relaxed.

      We used a huge arch at our prom made from chicken wire. We just covered it with balloons and had the 3 different colors spiral around it, and supported it by suspending it from the ceiling with fishing line. It sounds kind of redneckish but it turned out beautiful and it was fun to “disassemble” later. :-D

Probably with a cross knot starting behind the back post, and wrapping around the front cross beam.       He has to be an Officer to have the sword arch. We looked into it for our wedding and found out we couldn’t do it as my fiance is a Cpl. But if your man is an Officer, then he should have a sword with his formal mess dress. If anyone else in the wedding is an Officer they can make the arch for you … otherwise ask some of his friends from the Marines to form the arch for you.

    Me and my fiance are having an outside wedding and we want a arch but we dont know how to keep it standing. What type of supports or what can we do to keep the arch up in the wind. Its right next to the ocean so its gonna be windy

      if its on the beach you should be able to dig it in to sand a bit.. Lowes or home Depot should have arches that have longer legs on the bottom for that. or you can ask any hardware stores they should help you more in detail.

    Wedding arch= metal and fake flowers?
    We are making an arch for my cousins wedding and its from Hobby Lobby, straight metal pipe with a slick white finish. We are trying to attach fake flowers to it, but hot gluing wont work b/c the glue comes right off. Wire wont work b/c it slides, and double stick tape doesnt work well either, loses its stickiness and can see it too easily. ANY suggestions on how to make them stick? Drilling is out too.

    Does anyone have any different ideas for Greek wedding arches?
    My package includes the Greek wedding arch (link below) but I am not a big fan of the ivy draped around it. I have found images with tulle of fabric, but nothing that fits my liking. Does anyone have pictures of how they used this differently or can find some good examples online?

      I don’t have any pictures but you could wrap garland around each column, intertwine small flowers into the garland, then drape soft sheer fabric in swags across the top. The swags can be held in place by small flower falls. It won’t look like the example you are showing.

      Or leave the columns bare and just attach small flower waterfalls to the top of the arch………

    Driftwood for Beach Wedding Arch?
    I have previously seen driftwood being used in place of a wedding arch for beach weddings before.
    Is this something that just washes up or what????
    Where would I get this from?????

    • ANSWER:
      I’ve seen them premade before but they are really, really expensive….like a few hundred bucks if not upwards of a grand. Really large pieces of actual driftwood like that are rare and usually they have to dive to the bottom for them.

      Instead you can make fake driftwood. It’s alot of work but you can always sell the arch afterward to another beach bride and be compensated for your labor. Just take a stroll in the woods or look online and just find some regular brances in about the right lenght. Use a whittlin knife or even a belt sander and remove the dark. Then either white wash with paint diluted in matte finish glaze or you can soak in some bleach water to get that sun-aged look.

      For beach weddings I also like the arches made of bamboo. Easiest is to make them square and add some cloth to make a canopy. Decorate the poles with more cloth or flowers. The canopy comes in handy because it keeps the sun out of your eyes so you and hubby don’t have a squinty look in your pictures.

    Looking for a wood or black iron arch to get married under and to go over my fiance and I’s sweetheart table at our january wedding. I don’t want something flimsy. I am looking to buy, rent or make and it needs to be priced under 150. everything we have seen that we like is way too expensive. Please help!

      go to a woodshop that makes furniture and buy it Unfinished, then have someone you know or yourself finish it, it’s alot cheapre that way
