As the years go by after your wedding day lots of the vital happy memories can fade and making a marriage memory book is an ideal way to chronicle the whole wedding process to preserve those special memories. Wedding memory books can be acquired readymade with individual pages for guest lists, a family history and tons of pages for photos, but you may also make your own. Let’s have a look at what you want to consider when making your own marriage book.
Many couples start to consider their marriage book as they start preparations for the marriage, and just include it in the list to do ; order a wedding cake, book a marriage videographer, book hotels etc, but a brilliant idea is to make one that includes everything before the marriage as well . You want to consider if you’d like a collection of only wedding day memories or if you would like to include the bachelor and bachelorette party that is sure to have some of the best moments to include, though maybe a section at the back of the book should be reserved for those photographs.
Your wedding book can contain many, chapters if you like, that will chronicle each special moment and memory from the time that you first became engaged. The most significant thing you need to be aware of is that once the last chapter has been written it can be altered in the future, so keep as much memorabilia as you can just in case you choose to edit your book in years yet to come. When you are choosing photographs make sure that you keep at least 2 copies of each as this will allow you to be more creative and if you want to switch the layout and cut some fancy shapes you’ll always have spare photos.
Let everybody, friends and family, know that you are going to be making a wedding memory book and you’ll be stunned at how many people are ready to make a contribution to it. People will watch out for certain items at the bridal shower, wedding reception and other celebrations that always make up the entire wedding process, to give to you for inclusion in your marriage book. Sometimes something as simple as the ribbons on the marriage bands can fall to the floor unnoticed, but if people know that you are making a collection of all your memories they’ll pick it up and give it to you later on at the reception.
Depending on when you decide to start a documentation of your wedding will decide on the theme and design of your book. If you plan truly early then you can co-ordinate the book to fit into your wedding theme. Most wedding memory books only cover from the marriage day to the honeymoon, but how great would it be to get some video footage included on your wedding video of you and your better half blushing as you both go through the pages of the bachelor party. If you ask your wedding videographer, they can even make a separate video story from the days leading up to your wedding, with your wedding book as the central theme.
Beginning to add to your marriage book as soon as possible after you have decided to get married will mean that you’ve got a smashing story book that not only you and your better half, but also friends and family can look through when you’re all together again at birthdays, Christmas or other festivities in years to come.

QUESTION:
Where Can I Get Nice Yet Affordable Wedding Memory Books Made?
My wedding photographer is offering a pretty penny to create a memory book for me but I feel I’ve spent so much in photography as it is. Is there someplace where I can get one made for a reasonable price?P.S.
I love the story book wedding books and zookbinders, but I know they’re expensive. Any amount of help would be appreciated.
KC, the pretty penny I’m referring to is the memory book itself, not the photography. My photographer did a fantastic job and in addition I am purchasing several prints from them. And I would expect them to work their behinds off without feeling pressure because it’s their passion. After all, are they not getting paid to do what they love? I don’t know how you feel about your profession, but if you feel pressure from your clients and have this sort of attitude, perhaps you should find another job.-
ANSWER:
I am assuming you have full resolution digital files and the release to use them. There are several services where you can design your own book. I have experience with blurb.com and bephotobooks.com. The quality is actually pretty good, especially for a product that costs under 0. I’m not sure how they would hold up under very heavy usage, but I have a bephotobook in my lab that literally hundreds of people have looked through, and so far so good. (It is about my grandchildren so I am eager to show it off, of course!) You just go to the website, download the book software, work on your book on your computer. When you’re finished, upload the book back to them. In a few days, viola! Book! If you can scrapbook, you probably design it using their pre-made templates. Shutterfly, snapfish, and mpix also have books, I believe.
HOWEVER, there is a difference in quality. Although your self-produced consumer book may look all right, one from Storybooks, Zookbinders, or Asukabooks will be stunning! Also, your photographer has experience in design and the ability to choose images and layout that will tell your wedding story, and the nicer book will showcase your special day at its best.
Best of luck, with your book and in the future.

QUESTION:
Are there any wedding/bridal books for women who didn’t want to get married before now?
Case in point, I’m engaged and planning a wedding but never wanted to get married before now. So for most girls, they already know how they’ve wanted their wedding, already knew the style of dress and all of that, I didn’t and still working through it. Is there a book or magazine that covers this sort of thing.-
ANSWER:
All of them. Any decent bridal magazine or “How to plan a wedding” book will have essentially all of the information and checklists you need in them. Go to any local bookstore, they will have what you need. And not all women dream about their weddings starting at age 5.
Weddings didn’t cross my mind AT ALL until I got engaged, same story as you.I am a magazine junkie an ended up buying the “common” bridal magazines for a few months to get the ball rolling. In the end, while certainly not necessary, it did help me come up with some ideas. The features that showed “real weddings” were the most fun for me. You can also check out websites like The Knot.com and frugalbride, offbeatbride, etc. depending on your personal needs.
Here are some of the magazines I bought:
-Brides
-Modern Bride
-Canadian Bride
-Elegant Bride
-Weddingbells (Canadian magazine)
-Martha Stewart Weddings
-Luxe WeddingsAlthough I wasn’t initially in love with the idea of planning a wedding, everything turned out really nice in the end!
Good luck and have fun!

QUESTION:
Are wedding photo books appropriate Christmas gifts?
If you were a close relative of the bride or groom, would you like a wedding photo book for a Christmas gift?We made large 100 page photo books for our parents and grandparents. We are thinking about making smaller 20-50 page photo books for our aunts & uncles.

I think it’s a great idea but then again I love photo albums. Inscribe each book with a warm personal message just for that individual. And try to include a photo taken at the wedding of the book’s recipient

QUESTION:
What to do if a wedding venue double books?
Our wedding venue double booked us. I’m not really sure what to do now. Their best solution was another room that is nowhere near comparison. I understand that mistakes happen, but this is ridiculous. I feel like I’m back at square one, because to get the room I want I’ll have to change my wedding date.Other venues are not an option, as I fell in love with this location and it is perfect for the needs of my guests. What should we do?
-
ANSWER:
Leave this venue. 10 days to get back to you and double booking is a disgrace! I understand that you dont want to go anywhere else, but if this is what they are like leading up to your wedding, what can you expect on the big day?? Dont let them ruin your day, move on and find somewhere else. Get your deposit back and if you had a contract with them, see what it says about double booking. You may be able to sue them for breach of contract!

QUESTION:
what are the best/most informative digital wedding photography books.?
I am looking to get in to wedding photography and would like to pick up some books, what are some good ones for a beginner, I noticed a lot of them talk about transition from film which I don’t need.-
ANSWER:
Are you a beginning photographer? Try some basic photography first. Wedding photography is not a genre for novice photographers.I am all for learning through books, but weddings are one thing that may be best learned as an apprentice to a working photographer. (That is assuming that you have quite a bit of knowledge af photography in general, and understand both technical and artistic basics.) That’s not to say you can’t get anything from a book, of course you can depending largely on your learning style and self-motivation. One book for any photographer has to be “Understanding Exposure” by Bryan Peterson. He also has books on portraiture and composition that are well done. For weddings specifically, “Portrait Photography Handbook”, Monte Zucker, “Existing Light for Wedding and Portrait Photography”, Bill Hurter, and Steve Sint’s “Wedding Photography: Art, Business and Style”. “The Art of Wedding Photography” by Bambi Cantrell.
Again I stress weddings are not for new photographers. It is harder than it seems, and the stakes are high for the parties involved. Best wishes.

QUESTION:
Best Web site for ordering professional looking Wedding Coffee Table books?
Im just starting out as a photographer and im looking for a High quality site for coffee table books for wedding photos!
Anything but shutterbug
thanks for ur help!-
ANSWER:
You need a subscription to either “Rangefinder” or “Professional Photographer” magazines. Subscriptions are free to pro photographers. There are plenty of ads for what you are seeking. Be aware, that just sticking photos in some type of pocket album, no matter how “upscale” the album is, is now pretty much a thing of the past. Most modern brides today want a “digital album”. This may be what you mean anyway, as these are sometimes called “coffee table books”. The “digital album” does not consist of individual photos, but rather each page is an elegant design of photos created in computer software. If you are good at photoshop and have the time, the pages can be designed there. But in most cases, it is done with software specificially designed for this purpose. There are also many places that will do all the design work for you, and even print the album. Of course, the more you have done, the more the cost. So that translates to less profit and / or more you have to charge the client. You can purchase high quality albums that allow you to mount photos in a “flush mount” fashion yourself. You create the designs, have them printed in sizes such as 10 x 10 or 12 x 12, then mount the photos to the pages. The Premira albums are of this type. You can purchase these, and many other albums here:
http://www.perfectiondistributing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=PDI&Category_Code=NPDFMA
But I really suggest you study and research the HUGE amount of post wedding vendor services available.

QUESTION:
Where can I find wedding music books or music for Viola or Violin?
My parents friend who I’ve known since before I was 1 asked me to play at her daughters wedding and I cant find any music for said instruments above! It’s during the ceremony so maybe some hymnal church music, but not the usual Wedding March song. If anyone has ideas please let me know. (Preferably for Viola, but if you have trouble stick with violin). Thanks!-
ANSWER:
I’m a violinist myself and my favorite venue is weddings. Sadly, I’ve never found a book of “wedding music” for any instrument. SO, Here’s what I usually do:Try anything by Bach – his sonatas for unaccompanied violin is a great place to start. Remember, Bach was a Kapellmeister (sp) so his works are well-suited to church affairs. and Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring, for example, is a great processional.
Get out the old hymnals and transpose old favorites
Vivaldi – transpose the Spring from the four seasons – it’s lovely as a processional too.
Look for early marches/gavottes etc. for the recessional. I usually play 12th century Morris dance music but I don’t have copies of it – learned that by ear. BUT the third movement from Bach’s Violin concerto in A works well
There’s a great Irish jig – Haste to the wedding – that can be slowed down to a march tempo
For a traditional sound, the shaker hymn Simple Gifts is lovely as a processional or other interlude music
The whole thing is that you’re just going to have to take some favorite tunes and experiment with what sounds great for either instrument. You may have to arrange a more complicated piece to fit the viola/violin – but people are usually thrilled.
Keep your notes (pun intended) for the next time you get to play for a wedding.

I don’t need a wedding planning book but a book that helps when coupled with pre marital counseling. Thanks in advance.-

I agree with “The Five Love Languages.” That’s a great book! Also, a book that a friend gave me when I started to think that my husband might be “the one” back when we were dating – “Fit to be Tied” by Gary & Lynn Hybles. (I may have spelled their name wrong.) Very good, very realistic view of what to expect.

Suggested books for wedding planning?
I am recently engaged and feel ready to start planning the wedding. However, going into the bookstore to find a book sounds completely daunting! If anyone has any suggestions, or books to avoid, I’d appreciate it! Thank you!-

I suggest before you actually take the plunge is to read Monica Mendez Leahy’s “1001 Questions To Ask Before You Get Married”. Then the two of you should have an open forum about it. That way you two won’t have any surprises when you’re actually already in the stage of “married life.”

QUESTION:
What does one do when a limo double books for a wedding?
My best friend has booked her limo for her wedding in August and just found out that they double booked. Any ideas what she can do about it. Is going to a different limo company (this is a smaller town so there may not be another one) the only way to rectify this?-
ANSWER:
Depending on who booked their event first – your friend has a right to a full refund and a recommendation. A lot of limo companies book multiple events in the same day but have the coverage to get everyone where they need to be. The limo company should have contacts to help you find someone else. You could always rent a large car and have someone drive it for you. Other than that, you’d have to find another company. I would definitely make your dislike for the situation known and see if the limo company is willing to give you something in return.

QUESTION:
How might I incorporate my love of books into my wedding day?
I like the idea of putting a little bit of my personality into my wedding. I love literature and was wondering if anybody has any suggestions on how I could incorporate this? All I’ve thought of so far is having the tables named by my favorite authors or writing a poem to go into the order of service or something. People often see literature as a bit highbrow and pretentious though (and I’ll have a doctorate before my wedding) so I’m wary of doing anything that might look snooty…Any ideas would be very welcome though!
-
ANSWER:
It’s your wedding, if you have your friends and family there, they will know of your love of books and ideally your husband shares that love. I love the idea of naming the tables after favorite authors. You could have decorated bookmarks as part of the party favors..along with the jordan almonds and the m&m’s that everyone else has..I once went to a party where we were told in the invite to bring a children’s book to donate to the local shelter It was a wonderful sentiment. When we got there, we put our books in a decorated box. The hostess told me that she’d called the shelter, told them what she was doing and someone from the shelter was going to pick them up. She didn’t have to do a thing. Nothing high brow or pretentious about it, just sharing a love of reading.

QUESTION:
What are the BEST BOOKS, MAGAZINES and WEBSITES that would show me WEDDING and RECEPTION DECORATIONS/ IDEAS?
I already know about theknot.com and weddingchannel.com (searched them over again and again — The Knot has some great stuff with Real Weddings that has helped me out) and I have been looking at Brides, Elegant Brides, Modern Bride, etc. They all seem to focus more on the dresses and rings and not on decorations or reception ideas. We are having an outdoor summertime evening wedding next year and we want it to be in between formal and informal. I was thinking of a country (but not gingham check tablecloths and sunflowers) and sunset theme (idea from a YahooAnswers buddy…Thanks Miss D!!).
Do you know of any books, magazines, websites that would for sure have ideas for what I am talking about or anything you think might have some ideas?
If so, I would greatly appreciate any help!
Thanks!

QUESTION:
Ideas for classic books to put on a wedding list?
What favourite books would you recommend? I’m thinking obvious classics like Pride and Prejudice but also quirky classics like Wind in the Willows.-
ANSWER:
Hmmm, on a purely practical level, cookbooks like The Moosewood Cookbook by Molly Katzen, and The Joy of Cooking would be good. Home Comforts by Cheryl Mendelssohn (sp?) provides loads of information about how to organize and run a household. If they have a garden, Square-foot Gardening would be good (Mel Bartholomew). As for other classics . . . gosh, it really depends on the couple’s taste in literature. You wouldn’t want to choose something like “War of the Roses” or other divorce literature.
A complete set of Shakespeare. Some lovely Jeeves books by P.G. Wodehouse (keep them laughing!). Children’s classics like The House on Pooh Corner, Mary Poppins, The Borrowers, and A Secret Garden.
Very famous romances like P&P, would be good. Georgette Heyer has a lot of classic regencies, and the new covers are very lovely. (-: The complete works of Erma Bombeck.
Hmmm. Good question!

QUESTION:
Tiny and non-traditional wedding books…?
I need book recommendations for a very small — less than 25 people — and non-traditional wedding.
No white dress, no religion, and the ceremony and reception will be quick.-
ANSWER:
Hi and congratulations! You don’t need a book. That is what us, the internet, www.offbeatbride.com, and other sites are for.
What exactly do you need help with? Many on here are having a very small wedding.
Hmmmm….non-traditional….that is fine. You have many options other than the white dress/church route.
I read about a really nice wedding wear everyone wore jeans (even the bride and groom)! They looked very nice. OR….you can still wear a dress….just not a white/bridal one.
Ideas: Have this at someone’s home, backyard, a park, garden, next to a river or lake, on a mountaintop. Really….your venue options are endless.
A quick reception? Hmmm….that is a little more tricky. DO make sure that you do spend some time with your guests (I imagine that this will mostly be family), but they still do deserve to have some type of reception. If it’s summer…you could do a BBQ; a pig roast; a “picnic” complete with picnic baskets for everyone, etc. Again….lots and lots of endless options.
I would not suggest trying to find a book. Just use this site and the others mentioned to get ideas. Google is your friend!

QUESTION:
There are so many wedding planners books and guides you can buy, I wanted to know what’s the best one you can
get for your money? We are starting to plan for our wedding and wanted to know which one to get?-
ANSWER:
I personally didn’t buy a book, I bought a 3 ring binder, divider, a whole lot of paper and a hole punch and created my own.Dividers:
General, Ceremony, Reception, Budget, Guest List, HoneymoonThen I added sub-dividers: Churches/sites, Attire, Reception halls, Cater, DJ … ect.
Everything fit into that pretty much, I looked everything up I needed to know on the net (the knot, weddings.com ect) As things became more definate the “old” stuff got removed, and only the new stuff stayed. This has been so helpful to have my own personalized wedding binder !!

QUESTION:
What was the rejection rate at your wedding?
How many people did you invite and how many showed-up? My father-in-law (to be) has told me that he has read in wedding books that there is a 20% rejection rate but I want to see what’s going on in the “real-world”. Thanks!-
ANSWER:
I think the standard is to expect that 15-30% of your guests won’t be able to come, so your FIL is right. However, a lot of this depends on your individual situation. When you have your wedding and whether or not you’re both from the same area will play big roles in how many people come. I got married two days before Christmas, and my husband and his whole family (and many of his friends) were from a different state 1,000 miles away, so out of the 300 we invited, we had about 200 come to the wedding.

QUESTION:
Wedding planning books?
My boyfriend proposed to me about a month ago, and we are starting to get serious about planning the wedding since we finally have the time and money to do so. I know there are a LOT of books about this for straight people, I was wondering if there was a wedding planning book for gay people? We are pretty clueless as to what goes into a wedding, and how to plan it. And we don’t have parental support to rely on, so we are kind of on our own with this. Any, and all help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!!!-

QUESTION:
How to improve a wedding dress? Make an off the rack dress stunning?
I want a drop-dead stunning wedding gown. the price is just too much and i haven’t found a dress does that for me. so i heard of a wedding book that got rave reviews for listing ways to dress up an off the rack to make it one of the kind. I was hoping someone would know the books name. Suggestions would be great too. I really want everyone’s mouths to drop when they see my dress.-
ANSWER:
Go to your local fabric store (Joann’s) and hit the trims section. There should be many many many bridal style trims — from laces to pearls and gemstones. Figure out where you want them placed, and take them to someone in your family who can sew or a local tailors. Find a dress that you love, print the picture, and buy the supplies to make a simpler dress look more like the higher end dress. If you’re looking for poof, you can buy a tulle petticoat or many many many yards of tulle to make one (there are several tutorials on the internet for simply tying the tulle onto a ribbon. Google no sew tutu, and as long as you use long strips of fabric it won’t stick straight out but it will flow and add a lot of volume). If you plan to add volume, do not have the dress hemmed until you have the underskirt made, because that will affect the length. Watch shows like Say Yes to the Dress for some great ideas.Ideas (from me)
