  6. QUESTION:
I am making a wedding card gift box and want to make the box produce a paper shredder sound.?
I am making a wedding card gift box and want to make the box produce a paper shredder sound when people place their cards into it.

It is for a Halloween wedding. The box is actually a sort of haunted dollhouse. It is mostly built and would like some sort of contraption that will capture and reproduce the sound when a card is put it. I imagine a speak and a light beam breaking system. Any recommendations? Needs to be fairly simple as I am not too knowledgeable with electronics. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Sorry, I don’t have any suggestions for you……but I think this is a really funny and clever idea…hahaha

  7. QUESTION:
I’m making my own 3-tiered square wedding money card box. Does anyone know where I can purchase the boxes?
I’m in search of 14x14x7, 12x12x7 and a 10x10x7 boxes that I do not have to buy in bulk. Any website suggestions?
I’ve already tried looking at Micheals & JoAnn’s

    • ANSWER:
I would try at your local bakery. They will probably have boxes that you can purchase for the cakes. Also try places like Wal-Mart or Target, you might be able to find them there.

      http://www.bakingshop.com/cakes/cakeboxes.htm

This place sells cake boxes but not individual ones in your sizes. I found another site that had individual boxes but none of them were over 6″ tall, so that would be a problem.
Here it is if you decide to alter your specifications.

  8. QUESTION:
    Wedding card collection boxes?
Hello – does anyone know where I can buy a wedding card collection box for my wedding? I’ve seen them at weddings before but don’t know where they were bought from?
It’s for people to put their cards for us in? I’ve seen loads at weddings – where do they come from! :)
Hi Sorry – I’m in the UK so UK suppliers. And I want a nice one, not one I’ve made which will probably look awful! :)

    • ANSWER:
http://www.weddingcardboxes.com/standard.html at my wedding we are using a vintage looking birdcage, painted white and decorated with flowers and greenery. The guests can slide the cards right through the slats in the cage. It look really neat! for cages, check out ebay or antique stores in your area. Good luck and congrats!!

  9. QUESTION:
is the birdcage card box appropriate for beach wedding?
I have a birdcage wedding card box and I was wondering if it would be ok to use it for a beach wedding. I thought I could put some sand and seashells in the bottom of it. What do you think of this idea

    • ANSWER:
I would worry about a cardboard box, that it would blow away. I would worry about a birdcage that the envelopes would blow away. Make sure it is big enough for all the envelopes to lay flat, and that the slats are small. Otherwise, cute idea.
Me, I would find some sort of artificial plant that looked like seaweed, and get a fake seagull to stick on the top of it.
But sand and shells are fine.
Saw one in the Martha Stewart wedding magazine, it had bouquets in the corners. It was gorgeous.

  10. QUESTION:
I need a versatile wedding card or reception card box?
I have a big wedding/reception/rehearsal dinner, it’s like a full weekend event. Well, the budget we had carved out for this extravaganza is getting fairly tight. I left a few things for the last minute, like the reception card box, some decorations and a guest book, all stuff people will see and use. So, where wondering if I can buy a card box for the wedding reception, the rehearsal and everything else, and is this OK to do?

    • ANSWER:
I will contradict the second poster–you do not ALWAYS have a wedding card box out and it’s certainly not displayed during a rehearsal dinner. I have been to many, many weddings and honestly only 1 has ever used a wedding card box. It’s not a necessity and can oftentimes be costly and ignored or unused. If you want to save money in this regard, either get a cheap cardboard box to decorate or go to an arts and crafts store and buy one that is already made (Michael’s and AC Moore sell card boxes right in the wedding section). Also consider just getting a sack to put these cards in. People usually hand you the cards as you are making rounds and you can put them in the sack as you go and just make sure that a trusted family member is watching it at all times (for us, it was either my mom or my aunts since there was always one of them sitting at their table).

For your guest book, be creative. You don’t have to buy a specific wedding guest book set. You can always buy a pretty scrap book and set it up discreetly at a table where people can sign and leave messages. Maybe you can set this up where you will have your seating cards so people can grab their cards and then sign the book at the same time.

  11. QUESTION:
    wedding card post boxes?
im looking for a unique funky wedding crad box for my wedding i only want to order from the UK due to 2 bad experiences with deliveries coming from outside anyone know of ay websites i keep looking but there all the plain boring ones with ribbon orflowers i want soomething differnt like an actua postbox or stack of presents a train etc.

    • ANSWER:
you can use lots of things for a wedding card box….from a lunch box with a slit cut into the top to a real post box, to a bird house, to a birdcage, to a pinata (these are fun to break open at the end of the reception).

here are a few places to look for ideas.

      http://www.glencall.co.uk/1gi/pillh.html (for real post boxes)

http://www.partyrama.co.uk/pp/Decorations/Wedding_Card_box/All_Occasion_Card_Box.html (this one is really funky and can be used for other occasions besides your wedding. you can add some ribbon or something to make it more weddingy)

http://www.chloebeck.co.uk/wedding-post-box.html (this one has regular wedding looking boxes, but they come undecorated and you can add your own brand of funky to them. on this site you can also buy stick on jewels and a funky butterfly to decorate the box so you can make it like you want it)

      http://www.weddingcollectables.com/Wedding_Card_Boxes_Holders.html

(this one is an american based company but i included it to show the idea of using an old birdcage, you can spray paint them white or gold or silver or whatever color. also the silver metal box on this site was a good one)

http://www.lunchboxesetc.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=127 (for real plastic lunch box you can personalize…it would be for a smaller lot of cards)

http://www.sillyjokes.co.uk/party/poppers-etc/pinatas/wedding-cake.html (for a pinata you can cut a slit in the top and later either break it or pull the string to release the cards)

  12. QUESTION:
Unique ideas for wedding card/ money holder boxes?
I have seen a lot of wishing well, and bird cages but doesn’t anyone have any different idea’s??

    • ANSWER:
The wedding I just came from had a white mailbox, made from cardboard. It was cute, even had a flag on it, in white.
You could get a real one, have someone cut a slot in it, paint it any way you want, or decorate it in ivy or flowers.
You could even have one on a post on a base, those are popular at Xmas, saw them at Michael’s.
You could make it any size, shape, or description you wanted. A cardboard multitiered wedding cake, a cornucopia, a purse, a hatbox. Take a box and decorate it with ribbon or fabric. Even quilt the top. Use beads, sequins, pearls, doves. Have someone with artistic skill draw or paint something. Do a silhouette cutout of a bride and groom smooching. Even imitate your wedding gown colors and fabrics.
      Hope this helps.
PS- personally, I would make it just as unique and/or gaudy as possible, so it would be impossible to not to find.

  13. QUESTION:
nedd help with card box and wedding programs?
im making a home made wedding card box and also home made wedding programs can anyone give me some ideas or and tips how to get creative with things like this. my wedding is hot pink and white. thanks alot

    • ANSWER:
Just cover the card box with a pink and/or white fabric and wrap with a coordinating ribbon. That will look really cute :)

As for programs, I just printed them out and rolled them up like scrolls and tied them with a ribbon. They look really sweet. :)

  14. QUESTION:
I have been reading you should have a lock on your wedding card box?
I wanted to make my own but had no idea what to do??

    • ANSWER:
People have been known to crash receptions in order to raid the wedding card box for the cash and checks, so taking some precaution is wise. I’d be concerned about a simple lock because they are often easier to pick than we think. And if the box is light and easy to carry, someone could decide to just walk off with it.

I hate to be so suspicious but the other week a bunch of cars got stolen out of a church parking lot when someone walked into the coat room and went through all the coat pockets for the keys. They were able to take a number of cars that had alarms because they got the remote control key-fobs. That’s pretty low – going into a church to steal cars. And that kind of criminal wouldn’t think twice about spoiling your day.

Is there someone who wants to be involved in your wedding that does not have a “job” yet? Perhaps you could ask that person to stand with the wedding card box until everyone gets there, then take the cards to a safe place, or hold them for you until after the reception.

  15. QUESTION:
How can I make a wedding money card box, out of a cardboard box?
It is for my son and his girlfriends wedding, and they have asked me to make a money card box. All I have is a cardboard box to use.

    • ANSWER:
I made one last weekend for my daughters wedding. Cardboard box, wrapped in white silk material, I then attached with a hot glue gun 4 8×10 frames with pictures of them to the outside, and put it onto a lazy susan.

  16. QUESTION:
I need ideas for a Wedding Card Box/Holder!!!?!!?
Ok so I wanted to make my own card holder, but I don’t want it to be the shape of a present or a wedding cake. It seems like that’s all I’m finding(or a bird cage). Does anyone have any ideas of a unique card box??? I’m pretty crafty so I’m up for anything. Also if you could give me links or pics that would help a lot. Thanks:)
My wedding is also in the fall:)
Where did you get the treasure chest at??

    • ANSWER:
I bought my daughter a wooden treasure chest, and had a very nice fall scene painted on the front, and their wedding date and names across the top of the chest. They are getting married in September, and the box did not cost me anymore to buy and get painted than one of those everyday wedding card boxes. I did sand down the slats at the top of the chest so cards can slip through, and we will lock the front of the chest with a small lock… it looks GREAT. and unique.

We bought the chest at Michaels..

  17. QUESTION:
Does anyone have directions for making a wedding card holder (box) out of picture frames?
I have heard of these but have never seen one, nor do I know how to make one. If anyone has pictures or instructions for making one, I would really appreciate it!! I think you just use some type of lazy susan (rectangular) for the bottom, then attach photo frames around the sides. Also, can it be covered somehow?

    • ANSWER:

      http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/398986/picture_frame_wedding_place_card_holders.html

I think this is what you’re looking for.

  18. QUESTION:
Wedding card box at the last minute?
I’m getting married this coming Saturday. I don’t have a box for the cards. I was going to make one myself, but I’m afraid it’s going to look bad because I don’t really know how to do that.

Any suggestions as to where I can get a nice one for cheap at the last minute?

    • ANSWER:
I’m a wedding/event planner and the mother of the groom was going to bring the card box and forgot it. By the time we realized it was too late. A guest at the wedding had bridal wrapping paper in her car and we found a medium size box and wrapped the box with it. Well since you have some extra time you can decorate it using pictures of the 2 of you and maybe some childhood photos as well. Good Luck

  19. QUESTION:
    country themed wedding card box?
We are having a country themed wedding, to a certain extent. I thought that it would be cute to have our card box shaped, or made, out of a cowboy hat. Any ideas how to make this or has anyone ever seen one before?

    • ANSWER:
Find a regular box to hold the cards, decorate as you wish, cut a hold in the top, and then put the hat on top with a slit in it. People would drop the cards through the hat and they’d go into the box.

Not sure how country you want things to be, but you could glue straw to the box and make it look like a hay bale. Or, try to find an old wooden box made of slats (like an old shipping crate). You could still use the hat on top.

  20. QUESTION:
does anyone know any ideas for a home made card box for a wedding?
i want to make a home made card box for my wedding for people to put cards in. does anyone have any ideas that i could use to make my own.

    • ANSWER:
What I did for my wedding was I went to a craft store and got 3 round paper boxes. They are brown and sort of like cardboard.

Well I cut out the bottom of the smaller two and stacked them like a three tiered wedding cake! I painted it ivory and added ribbon around it and pretty much you can decorate it to the colors and theme of your wedding. At the top of the smallest box you cut a slot for the cards.

It was about for the whole thing. :)

  21. QUESTION:
Craft kit for making a wedding gift card box?
Does anyone know of a good online site where you can buy a craft kit to make a gift card box for a wedding reception? We want something simple and elegant, no “wedding cakes” or those with yards of lace and frills. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
You can make one by wrapping an appropriate sized box with a great fabric and hot gluing it all down. Cut a slit in the top. Use some trim to edge the cut so it doesn’t look ragged.

The white bird cage idea is nice and secure, people can’t get the cards out, and it looks nice on the gift table. Many party supply stores will have them for rent if you don’t wnt to buy one.

I’ve also used a mailbox. The one with the slit in the door for the enveloped to slide through. We decorated it with white fabric, just like the box idea. The couple still use that mailbox – without the fabric – at their house.

The elegant part is going to be in the fabric and trim you choose. Good luck.

  22. QUESTION:
Wedding Card box – - with a lock?
I need to find a wedding card box that has a lock – - or a clasp that I can buy a lock for it myself.
Does anyone know where I could find this?

    • ANSWER:
Station the gift table out in the open. Like at the front of the room or next to the cake. Somewhere highly visible to everyone. Lots of eyes keep people honest. You don’t need a lock, Make your own card box out of wrapped gift boxes or hat boxes & glue them all together with the only way to get into the cards is by ripping through the boxes.

I hope you are concerned with a member of the catering staff, not your guests. I can’t imagine inviting someone to such an intimate & important moment knowing they would steal from me.

  23. QUESTION:
    wedding card box?
does anyone have any ideas or websites that will help me make my own wedding cake shaped card box???

    • ANSWER:
For a wedding cake shaped card box, use 3 or 4 hat boxes of graduated sizes. Stack them from largest up to smallest. Cut the top out of the bottom tier, cut the top and bottom out of the middle tiers and cut a slit in the top box. Glue them all together, either spray paint or hand paint the boxes white, and decorate with either royal frosting like you would a gingerbread house, white puffy paint, or ribbons, bows, pearls ect, depending on the style of wedding cake you want to recreate.

Related Side Note: Make certain you have someone watch your card box at the wedding. They tend to “dissappear” even if the wedding guests are all friends and family. I’ve heard of thieves coming into the reception location if they know a wedding is planned for that weekend, just to steal the box filled with cards and money.

  24. QUESTION:
    Wedding card box holders?
Where did you get your wedding card box holder? All the ones I have found online seem to be like and up. That seems like such a waste to me…

Looking for an ivory one or hunter green…
Wow Stamper, she did a great job! I am trying to look at storage boxes right now…groan…

    • ANSWER:
My mom made mine and it was beautiful.
She bought some inexpensive boxes that were wrapped in burlap from Old Time Pottery. They were three different sizes. She removed the burlap, sprayed each box with adhesive, then wrapped each in batting, and finally covered each one in silk. No obviously you don’t have to use silk, satin in ivory would be much cheaper. But you get the idea.
She stacked the boxes, and used a 3″ wide black ribbon and made a big pretty bow on top. She also embellished the front of the “packages” with crystals with scrollwork.
I am sure mine costed more than but it can be done for less than that.
You can use many other things to recover and use as a card box and save some money.
Just think outside the box for creative things you could use.
      Large coffee can
      A smaller rubbermaid tote
      Basket with a lid
I believe Michaels sells cardboard mailboxes that are used for this and can be covered in fabric
Any sturdy cardboard box (maybe a paper ream box?)
Just about anything can be covered with fabric and made pretty. Look around at thrift shops or flea markets for things to make it out of.

This is what my box first looked like until Mom decided to completely change the design of it.

      Card Box

I would have to try and find a photo of what it looked like after she redid it in the silk and black ribbon.

Don’t spend money on one of those things, make your own. It will be cheaper and probably look nicer! If you need any help feel free to email me!

ETA- I loved that one too but my mom is such a perfectionist and is never happy with anything that is why she remade it. I wish I could find another pic but I did look up her flickr photostream and she has the one she made for my sister in 2005. I will add both pics of that so you can see it. It was neat as well and with that one she used the cardboard mailbox.

      100_4931_001

      100_4932_002

read the script under the second link here and you will understand the embroidery she did on it. They have a daughter named Alyssa that is what that is.

  25. QUESTION:
    Wedding card box?
My fiance and I are planning our wedding for October. It is a second marraige for both of us. The wedding is small and we are only including those people that mean the most to us 34 +/-.

We sent out “save the date” magnets last month because the wedding will be held on a holiday weekend and where we live, due to the season, the hotel rooms tend to book quickly. Anyways… along with the magnets we sent a note letting everyone know that in lieu of a gift we hope that they use the money toward any travel / hotel expenses, that them being there means more to us than any gift they could bring.

My question is… I’m afraid that regardless of our request some of them may still bring a gift and/or card. Should we make sure that there is some typle of box/basket for this? If we do this and they actually listen to our request will it look like we didn’t really mean it? Anyone been in the same situation?
B2B: Just want you to be clear…we asked them to bring NOTHING…no cash / no gift. Just themselves
Peachy: I’m sorry that your friends and family are so stuck up that they would not appreciate a hand written note letting them know how much their presence means to you. How sad.

    • ANSWER:
i understand that, and it was great to be so thoughtful of your guests and the expenses it takes to go to a wedding. Just give them to someone to keep in a safe place, they don’t have to be on display, if ppl want to give more, let them-but I wouldn’t put out a box specifically for that-you’re right, it’s a little bit hypocritial on your part. good luck, and congrats!!! :)

  26. QUESTION:
what if a wedding card box disappeared?
i didnt have my wedding yet but i had an engagement party with about 247 guests. the venue of choice was a very nice and upscale place. the banquet manager was very attentive to my needs. while talking with my mother in private we decided not to have a gift box, but as i was getting ready the banquet manager informed me that she had put a gift box out there upon request of a guest…she ran it by me and with my rush i forgot all about it. at the end of the evening, since it wasn’t our idea i forgot all about it. when i got home going through my gifts i realized i didnt have a card from my 2 bestfriend…right then my one girlfriend texted me and asked if i liked her card…long story short i called the next day in the morning and the banquet manager said the box wasn’t there…now with the story told, WHAT DO I DO??? a week has passed and i dont know what to do…someone please give me some type of help…

  27. QUESTION:

How much should i charge a person who need a wedding card box decorated. it is large and she has the material, she is not a close friend. She recently wanted me to do her wedding flowers for the brides and grooms 7 each, the parents on each side flowers and he grandparents. and flower basket, and card box but because she flet i chrg to much she cancled. i was only charging 500.00, she said it was too much. i felt it was my time, well now she just want me to do the 2 flower baskers, now she just called and said the card box. someone seend me a reply. my answer i said was 25.00 for my time, but if i have to get the material cause she has the box then 40.00

    • ANSWER:
Sounds fair to me… especially considering she’s not a close friend.

  28. QUESTION:
Is it tacky to have the wedding card box out for a short amount of time?

    http://www.amazon.com/Chandlers-Gifts-33144-Moroccan-Tabletop/dp/B0002HLH6C/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=garden&qid=1245708011&sr=1-13

I wanted to use that as the wedding card box for my outdoor wedding? Since I don’t want to worry about it all night I was thinking about having it next to the guest book before the ceremony and then during cocktail hour. Then putting the card away somewhere locked up. I plan on having the ceremony and reception at the same place.
i am really wanting to use a container that I can use again after the wedding. I don’t want to buy something that will just be thrown away later.

    • ANSWER:
NO, that is not tacky at all! As a matter of fact, where I live (Michigan) the card box is set on the gift table at the reception and is kept there all night! The ones that are used here, though, are always ones that are locked. Some brides even make them themselves. I do like the one you have, but how will the cards get into the lantern? The guests will need to open the little door….thus, cause for concern about theft.

You may want to look into something a little different. If you are having an outdoor wedding, have you considered a “bird cage” card holder? These are popular where I live. Something like this:

      http://www.theweddingoutlet.com/Wedding-Reception/Bird-Cage-Card-Holder/Birdcage-Card-Holder_3

Or, something like either of these:

      http://www.theweddingoutlet.com/Wedding-Reception/Bird-Cage-Card-Holder/Reception-Gift-Card-Holder

      Hope this helps!

You could make something like this one your own by hotgluing some cute picture frames the same sized sides of a card box. Just think of taking two picture frames and putting them at a 90 degree angle to eachother and then adding two more to create a box shape. Find a box that size and glue them on and it will look very nice and no one will know you made it! Good luck!

  31. QUESTION:
It is appropriate to put a card box out at a 50th wedding anniversary party?
I know that there are card boxes at weddings but I don’t know if it is appropriate to put one out for a 50th wedding anniversary party. Do people give money for these type of events or does the anniversary couple usually receive gifts. Help with this would be greatly appreciated

    • ANSWER:
I don’t think that it would be wrong to have one, especially if you could find out what they had at their wedding and have a duplicate one made. Many gifts at anniversary parties are cards so I think it would be a great idea.

i am making a card box for my friends wedding. I have done one before for my wedding and used spray adhesive and fabri-tac, but with hers the fabric that is glued to the top is not sticking! Any ideas or suggestions?

  35. QUESTION:
Is it ok to have a wedding card box?
I got a wedding treasure chest like in the link below for the sole purpose of collecting wedding cards and adding to the decoration. Now I am reading that wishing wells are tacky and have no place at a wedding. Would you think this box is a request for money? Should I just sell it on Ebay rather than have it at my reception? I thought it was cute but now I’m not sure. I’m not even planning to do a dollar dance nor do I care if I got any gifts. I was just thinking some people would bring cards.

How can I make a tresure chest wedding card box??
    Any ideas?

    • ANSWER:
They sell them already covered in fabric at AC moore and Michaels for weddings. They are usually about 30 bucks not on sale. Wait for a weekly coupon and they are 40-50% off. You can’t make one for dollars.

It looks like this but is much cheaper in the store w/ coupon.

  37. QUESTION:
    wedding card money box?
where can i find a nice cheaper wedding card gift box? i don’t want to spend like on one..

    • ANSWER:
Make one! get a small carboard photo box in a size that you like, cut a slit in the top and decorate it using left over material from the bridesmaid dresses or satin and flowers. Customize it to match your wedding. You can also find nice cardboard boxes at craft stores. This could be a good project for a friend who is artistic but isn’t actually in the wedding.

or, just have a fancy basket trimmed with tulle and flowers.

I’ve also seen where brides have a “bridal purse” . A pretty satin bag that she carries at the reception.

You could buy an inexpensive white mailbox and decorate it.

  38. QUESTION:
Should I include a card with a wedding gift?
It’s a blender in a box. Should I include a wedding card (from Walgreen’s or something) with it and tape the card to the outside of the wrapped box? Or should I just give the wrapped gift? Do people usually write To: and From: on wedding gifts like on Christmas gifts?

    • ANSWER:
Cards often get separated from gifts, so it is a good idea to include a card on the gift box or in the box before you wrap it. This way, when opened, there will be no question as to where the gift came from.

  39. QUESTION:
What are some cute sayings or a message that I can put in front of my money card holder box for my wedding?

The box will be placed on the gift table so the money cards will not get lost with the big gifts.

    • ANSWER:
I agree. Anytime someone tries to be cute or clever where money is concerned, it comes across as annoying. Just decorate it tastefully – your guests will know what it is.

  41. QUESTION:
I need ideas for a wedding card holder (to hold cards the guests bring).?
I would like to make a wedding card holder but don’t have any ideas. I’ve heard of using picture frames to make a “box” but have no idea how to go about putting it together. I’ve also seen pictures of hat boxes put together to look like a wedding cake-but that’s not really the style I’m going for. I would like something a little classier. The colors are black, green, and white. I do some rubber stamping-so something “crafty” might work. ANY ideas would be appreciated!!

  42. QUESTION:
Money or card box at wedding?
I have not been to too many weddings but I really have not noticed any money/card boxes at many of them…only the ones on tv. I live in el paso, tx and things here are more of mexican tradition and they do “dollar dances” which i am not doing cause that’s not a custom for me….so do you think i should have a card box anyway? i would feel silly if its empty at end of night
I didn’t say I am not having the dollar dance cause it’s Mexican…I’m not having that dance cause it’s not a custom for me (I’m German and I prefer not to dance with anyone but my fiance)

    • ANSWER:
Honey to start off with let me say this, don’t worry how people try to make your words to be. Do not trip off of them. Some people try to put words into your mouth that you haven’t even said. Your words was perfectly clear and it is not even cool what some people say! I am mexican and I didn’t do the dollar dance just for the fact that I only danced with my husband! I didn’t want to be with other men only my husband! I agree with you 100%.

I personally think that people should give you money. That is the one thing a newly wedded couple could really use. I would hope that you would get money!……A empty box would upset me personally!

Anyways, I need your opinion. Which one do you like better? 1 has tulle bows on the top. 2 doesn’t have the tulle bows. It’s just plain on top. I’ve also posted a before picture so you can see how horrible it looked before I started working on it.

SACSFINEST: We put the cards that we get from people at the wedding inside. Guests can either drop them off there OR they can hand them directly to us and we’ll drop them in. It just makes things easier because all the cards will be in the same place.

    • ANSWER:
First off, I admire you for being able to make one of these. I tried to make one of these as a gift and it was sooooo ugly, I couldn’t even give it! Anyway….I like two..it has more of a clean lined look.

  47. QUESTION:
On Wedding RSVP card will it be appropriate to mark Attending 0 box or Regretfully Decline box if not attend?
My niece is getting married in Hawaii leaving in Chicago.
We were planning to go but we are Back To School & it’s in Sept. second week right after school reopens so can’t attend.

  48. QUESTION:
What are some funny things you can put inside of the Money/Card box at a wedding?

    • ANSWER:
fake money- like the george bush bills, or scan some bills into your computer and do some creative photoshopping. put the bride and groom’s faces on the bills and change some wording to make it funny.

  49. QUESTION:
What are you doing of a wedding card holder for the gift table? Anything creative?
    I thought about a basket but I think it’s a little dull……
I don’t feel like looking for a bird cage.
The cater is a rip off for renting them.
I refuse to pay for something that is used once no craft store premade stuff.

I tried borrowing one and was actually given something but it turned out to be a rusty old mail box covered in satin with stuff hot glued to it- YUCK.

I could make a satin box but I want to see what other people were doing first.

If you can think of something that is reuseable that would be wonderful!!!
It’s a fall wedding- colors a brown and pink. I am not doing a “theme” thing just fall and wedding :)

    • ANSWER:
Forget the basket, birdcage or anything that looks pretty. Pick function. A big box with a tiny slit in the top that is wrapped in some kind of pretty wrapping paper is best. At my own wedding and every wedding I have ever been a part of, at least 10 or more cards were stolen or became “missing.” People are dishonest and not only do employees of the reception hall steal but guests do as well. They know those cards have money in them. Make sure the box is secure and that once the card goes in that it isn’t coming out until you take it out later.

  50. QUESTION:
I am looking for beautiful card and papers?
I cannot find nice card and paper to make wedding invitations and favour boxes for my niece, I need lovely ivory/white/pastel silk/satin patterned/embossed. I can get mixed packs which are no good. I need specialist wedding card and paper really.
I need up to 30 of the same card and matching papers (or more depending on mistakes!) if possible. I have searched the net until I am about LOOPY! Please please, can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks so much.
I am in the U.K. but would not mind buying from abroad. Also, I do not want any pre – die-cut boxes as I like to make my own. Thanks again.

    • ANSWER:
I had the same problem about a year ago and ended up buying single sheets from several US suppliers until I found what I needed. Since then lots of card making suppliers have popped up in the UK – if you are anywhere near Leicester there is a shop called Card Fairy there and they have hundreds of cards and papers and also may order in specialist ones if you are buying 30 sheets at a time.
Alternatively if time/deadline is not too tight your best bet is to go the the Hobbycraft exhibition at NEC 31st March/1st April.
There are so many suppliers there it is almost mind blowing. I have been able to buy exactly what I wanted that I had been unable to locate here in UK – in fact at the show I had almost too many to choose from!
