Wedding Centrepieces

Wedding Table Centrepieces

A simple candle centrepiece can add that special finishing touch to a table setting. Enhance your wedding dAcor by selecting colours and 00004000 fragrances to suit your wedding theme. Whatever candles you choose they are sure to add that special glow and ambience to your reception venue.

Centrepieces do not need to be extravagant to make a statement, but there are a few tips that can make your choice much easier.

1/ Choose a centrepiece that will not take up too much room on the table. Sounds obvious, but you don’t want to take up too much room on the table.

2/ Don’t pick a height that will block your guest’s view of each other or hinder conversation. Also consider the size of the venue when deciding on the size of your table centres. If the ceilings of the venue are quite low a very high table centre will make it feel claustrophobic. Choose either something that is very high if the room has high ceilings or low if not.

3/ If you are using scented candles stick to one fragrance or make sure fragrances are compatible. You don’t want to overwhelm your guests.

4/ Soy candles are the better choice because they do not produce smoke or soot. Unscented may be the better option if you are celebrating in a more intimate setting.

5/ Floating candles in a bowl is another option for a low centrepiece. The water is the bowl can be either coloured to match or contrast the candle colour.

6/ If you are using container candles, cluster similar designs in different sizes together for an interesting affect.

7/ Surround your glassware with a garland of flowers or a beaded spray

8/ If you choose a cluster of candles, the wax colour can be shades of the same eg.

Pale pink, pink, dark pink, red etc

9/ Choose a setting that is in proportion to the size of the table and the number of guests. A very high centrepiece is suited to venues such as Rupertswood Mansion, which has a very high ceiling.

10/ Cluster of 4 Cluster of 9

11/ Spiral with different sizes of the same jar.

12/ Use a mirror to reflect the colour and light from the candle jars.

13/ If you are using a cluster, use them as a table centre and then give them to your guests as their wedding favour.

14/ One of the most important issues to consider is the dAcor of your reception venue. Make sure you take the time to consider your options.

White is easy to match, but most venues use bold colours such as royal blue or dark red for carpets and drapes.

Take the time to visit the venue and think through your colour scheme.

15/ White candles are your obvious choice with the flowers matching your theme, but if you want to be daring group your guests according to a flower type.

Select the shade and flower for each table.

Suggestion: Have your candles either unscented or choose a single fragrance even if you are changing the colours. This is easy with soy because the wax can be blended to any number of shades.

Arrange your guests seating by a flower selection.

Eg. 1/ Frangipani, 2/ Rose, 3/Lavender, 4/ Tulip. You get the idea, and keep them in shades of the same colour. Your florist can help you with which flowers are in season.

16/ Bridal Table Decorations:

A longer centrepiece with two smaller either side work well. Don’t make them too high; the guests would like to be able to see the bride and groom.

17 / There are a number of advantages to choosing soy candles for your wedding.

No smoke or soot.

Containers can be customised.

Wax colour can be matched to your wedding theme.

Fragrances (in most cases) can be matched to your wedding flowers.

Long lasting, so even the smallest candles will see the night through.

They are environmentally friendly with the wax being biodegradable.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
    Wedding Centrepieces?
Hi All. What are your thoughts for wedding reception centrepieces for our wedding next May? Our colour theme is ivory & fucshia (with Calla Lillies).

My first idea was a nice shallow glass bowl with 3 or 4 floating candles, and also some rose petals floating in the bowl too.

Then I thought it would be cool to have betta fish (or any fish for that matter, as long as they match the colour scheme) in a bowl with some of that “plastic ice” stuff in the bottom of the bowl. The only problem with this is a) what if a fish dies while people are eating? and b) i was planning on giving them to who ever wanted them but it would be difficult for people to take them home.
Then I thought that butterflies in cute little cages might be nice, but then do butterflies go to sleep at night time? what if they die? Could I have any further complications with this idea?

I want something a little more interesting then just candles in a bowl, or a flower underwater.

    Any suggestions would be great!
Hey Everyone, just thought I would mention that we actually have an aquarium at home and know quite a bit about fish – so I know the bettas are hardy (hence my reason for wanting them) and also know they can live a long time. I get what you mean about something staring at you though, my fiance once went fishing and was so proud to cook me dinner that he caught – only problem was, he scaled it and gutted it, but left the head and fins on!!! eww!!!! i couldn’t eat it :(
Sorry forgot to mention one important thing. I’m in Australia, and although many of you people have great ideas, I have no idea what kind of shops you’re talking about :( Sorry

    • ANSWER:
I would definitely make sure that the bettas would have good homes before you decide to put them in the centerpieces!!

My first job was working at the local community center, I was a set up person for weddings and events. One day, we went in to clean up and found that dozens of bettas had been left in their bowls in the banquet room overnight.. My boss had us flush them, and I felt terrible!!

Also, if you decide to do bettas don’t plant a flower in the top of the vase as many people do, if there are objects blocking off the top of the vase then the bettas don’t receive enough oxygen and suffer.

I would nix the butterfly idea, they are expensive and are indeed fragile as others have mentioned. I had wanted to do a butterfly release for my wedding but I couldn’t fully justify it, I would never want to harm innocent creatures! :(

      Good luck!

  2. QUESTION:
We are having a Hollywood themed wedding & as Centrepieces – giftboxes with Marilyn on filled with flowers?
We are having a Hollywood themed wedding & as Centrepieces having boxes with Marilyn & Audrey Hepburn on filled with flowers, is this too much? I’m concerned it wont look right?

    • ANSWER:
I’m not a big fan of putting faces in the centerpieces. Perhaps you can go with a more subtle Old Hollywood feel. Think like 30s and 40s silver screen art deco. You can find a way to mix the very sculptural and geometric art deco designs with very luxurious texture like ostrich feathers, peacock feathers, satin fabrics. Go for a more subtle, sensual feel.

  3. QUESTION:
Ideas for inexpensive wedding favours and centrepieces.?
I am helping my best friend’s daughter with some of her wedding planning. She needs ideas for inexpensive guest favours and centrepieces. Her colours are brown and ivory. The wedding is the first week of September. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Yes, use small potted flowers for the centerpieces and then let people take them home afterward. You kill two birds with one stone that way.

  4. QUESTION:
I need mini snowmen for my wedding centrepieces!?
I want to use mini snowmen to accent my winter wedding centrepieces. I know how to make the styro foam ball snowmen, but I was wondering if anyone knew anywhere where they are pre-made (not cheap looking like the ones at the dollar store). I would like them to be about 3″ – 4″.

  5. QUESTION:
how much should you spend on wedding centrepieces? would you grow your own flowers?
i wana have vases that are stuffed with brightly coloured flowers.

how much did you spend on your centrepieces? is it cheap to grow my own flowers?

    • ANSWER:
Before I would ever go through the headache and expense of growing my own flowers I would look to a florist or even a local chain like Costco. Growing your flowers may seem cheap, but in order to get the size and quantity you want you will need to work in the garden daily, fertilize, water, protect against infestations…the list goes on. It would be MORE expensive to grow your flowers.

  6. QUESTION:
Where can I buy round mirrors about the size of a dinner plate to use with a vase for wedding centrepieces?
I want to have tall round vases with a flower submerged in water with tea lights on top of a round mirror in the centre of my guests tables. I can get the vases at spotlight for .50 each and tealights are cheap as will be the flowers. Now I just need to find the mirrors but can’t find them anywhere except hire places interstate. I live in country VIC but would travel to Melb for them. Does anyone know where I can buy 12 of them. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
      Try Hobbie Lobby

  7. QUESTION:
What is a good idea for wedding centrepieces? My wedding is in the summer and the colours are yellow and white?

  8. QUESTION:
    Wheatgrass for wedding centrepieces?
I want to use some kind of grass in centrepieces. I am thinking about planting it in shallow (4″ deep) trays, and then sticking mini fake trees in there to make a sort of forest setting at each table (we are having tree seedlings for our favours, which I will incorporate into the centrepiece).
Is wheatgrass suitable for this? I heard it grows really wuickly and lushly, but I’m concerned. Wedding is 22 days away, does it grow fast enough to look good?

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
It will look like a grass and won’t have the seed heads if that is what you want. You may be looking at 5-10 days to seeing green then its a matter of it growing thicker. You can speed things up a little bit by monitoring everything very carefully. Keep the soil warm and moist but not to warm or moist because you can also encourage molds and fungus make sure to have good light and air circulation. Good luck it sounds like a great idea.

  9. QUESTION:
I am looking for tall glass cylinder vases for my wedding centrepieces. Any ideas where I could buy in bulk?

    • ANSWER:
Try places like Michael’s designs or Walmart.

Also, just as a word of caution, tall centerpieces can be a problem unless they’re very “thin” (not sure what word to use!). But if you’re putting flowers in them or tall stems, etc, it can drive people nuts trying to talk across the table to someone.

  10. QUESTION:
    Ideas for Unique Wedding Centrepieces?
I would love some ideas fr some unique wedding centrepieces. I love flowers but am open to any suggestions at all. Although i don’t want balloons as i feel they are too informal. Is it ok to have different centrepieces on each table or a few different ones or would this look like it had just been thrown together? Also any money saving ideas for them would be great. Thanks!!!

    • ANSWER:
My favorite new, modern look is submerged flowers, with a few candles scattered around. Kind of like this:

You can also save money by doing most of this ahead of time yourself with silk flowers if you want.

What were your table centrepieces at your wedding?
Looking for ideas i know my theme will differ from all of yours, but it would be great to get some ideas!!

    • ANSWER:
I kept it simple. I did that with everything to keep it simple yet elegant.

I just got basic glass bowl vases, put about 7 red gerber daisies in each and put 4 votive candles around it on the tables. Clean and colorful.

  13. QUESTION:
Table posies or centrepieces for wedding reception?
I am getting married in June and my mum and dad are paying for the reception. We think there is around 25 tables and we want centrepieces on them. I don’t want my parents paying a fortune for something that is only going to be there the duration of the party, they say it doesn’t matter about the cost but it does to me. Does anyone have any ideas of where I can find cheap table posies or some lovely centrepieces that are fairly cheap. I actually saw some nice table posies in a shop this morning, only around 7 pounds each although that suddenly went up to 10 when I told her it was for my wedding!!! When I look on the internet the cheapest ones I can find are starting for about 20 pounds for a really small one, that’s ridiculous!!! Anyway, I’d really appreciate your help. Many thanks.
I live in the north east of England (Stockton)

    • ANSWER:
Hi, a friend of mine got married a few weeks ago and had very small centrepieces that she made herself. Each one consisted of a small glass bowl, some stones ( the type used for the bottom of fish tanks) 1 stem which had lots of blooms on and a few small flowers around the bottom of that (all were plastic, but very real looking). It was really effective as she used the same colours to match the dresses. She also had paper butterflies which she cut herself from a template to rest on the edge of the champagne glasses on each table. This added a lovely effect. Try to make time for these sort of things if you can, it makes the day even more special when you realise that you have made the tables look so good. Have a great day and enjoy yourself, Good luck!!

      - candles with mirrors underneath them to reflect the light

We was going to have balloons with little candles round the glass plate and some purple petals but I don’t want the balloons to look to much as we are having our hall lined like a marquee. I want to use real fish as my wedding centrepiece?
Im trying to find a place in Australia (Gold Coast preferred) that hires or rents fishbowls and real fish for centrepieces as my wedding is coming up and you can hire Betta fish and bowls in America, but i havent had any luck finding anywhere around here.
    can anyone help me?

    • ANSWER:
If its a Betta fine, as it can thrive with filter & air.. but don’t go for any other type of species as this can be very deadly for other types of fish and just not a very a good idea sadly.

Bettas are not that spendy as a rule nor is a decent size bowl so might want to look at maybe seeing if someone might home it if not yourself after. They are generally easy keepers..

Can anyone help me choose what to pick as centrepieces for my wedding?!?
I am getting married in a golf club and it’s quite modern inside with lowish ceilings and a large balcony outside. I was going to choose a romantic Shakespeare theme but not sure now as don’t think it would suit a modern building that well. I like pinks, golds and greens and i love candles. I only have a limited budget (i want to avoid spending more than £200) Help! Any pics of your centrepieces or comments would be great! Thanks

    • ANSWER:
You should look at websites developed by companies like The Knot (for US the site is www.the-knot.com). Their business is to help people with making decisions about their weddings like deciding on centerpieces, hair styles, wedding dresses, rings, invitations, flowers, etc. The Knot shows pictures of different kinds of centerpieces and sometimes descriptions on how the people created their centerpieces.

Candles and flowers are excellentchoices. Floating candles are gorgeous. What about 3 staggering cylinder vases with a colored marble on the bottom with a floating candle on top. Get ones were the diameter isn’t much larger than the floating canlde you choose.

  22. QUESTION:
Wedding centrepieces – what is the best way to make them??
I am making “gumball machines’ for my wedding centrepieces and want to make sure they don’t come apart when some nosy aunt manhandles them to “seeeee how they’re put together”. You take a terracotta pot, turn it bottom side up and glue a flat edged rose bowl on top. the topper is the round terracotta dish you would set a pot in. The pots and lids are spray painted gold and the rose bowls will be filled with gold and brown wrapped candies. So, what is the best way to glue the rose bowl to the pot?? Glue gun, some other type of super glue?? Since the pots are painted, I’m assuming they won’t be as porus and won’t suck up the glue?? Please help! Thank you all!

    • ANSWER:
I can imagine what you’re trying to create and, from working in a flower shop, can try to suggest some things that might hold the pot pieces onto the bowl best. When we have to adhere things such as candles or bowls to things such as vases or plates, we sometimes use Cling Tape– its white, gummy clay-like tape that you can peel off of a roll. Its almost like chewing gum, lol. You can press it to whatever you need to stick to something and it’ll hold. You can pick it up at almost any flower shop or craft/hobby shop. Also, for heavier duty jobs, we squirt hot glue on the thing and then squeeze Gorilla Glue (available at most Walmarts, AC Moores, you get the drift) on the glue to create an extra-sturdy hold. Good luck!

How to make these wedding centrepieces?
Hi can anyone help please, I want to make 6 of these wedding centrepieces for my wedding, i Already have the lily vases which are 80cm tall. what else will I be needing? and how many roses do u think I would need to fill 1 80cm vase? (im not wanting them as big as the ones pictured but similar as I am on a budget) im also wanting to put some silver ting ting or sumthing in the centrepieces too. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Wow….those are amazing, but will NOT be able to be reproduced on a budget. You are talking about 6 dozen roses in each….very expensive!

Seriously, I would take back those very tall vases (if you can) and go with something much lower….that will need about 6-10 roses in each, and then put it on a mirror and put some votives around it! Very classy and elegant:

OR…another classy idea that is gaining in popularity is to “sink” some flowers in a vase…then float a candle on top! Very elegant:

  24. QUESTION:
What are some inexpensive wedding centerpiece ideas?
I am having a blue and brown colored wedding, possibly with some pink and/or orange thrown in here and there. What are some inexpensive table centerpiece ideas that could incorporate those? Has anyone found any really good websites for this? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I did my own centerpieces and they cost my under per table. To save money go with something that uses candles instead of flowers. Flowers can add up quickly (even if you plan on buying and arranging them yourself) and candles are great because they really set a romantic mood for your tables.

I got all my candle holders from the dollar store. I used one tall 9″ glass vase on each table that was .50 each. And then 4 smaller, 6″ vases that were each. The tall one we put gold glass flakes in the bottom and filled with water and had a dark red floating candle in (our wedding colours were gold, silver and dark red). The glass flakes were from a kitchen warehouse store and cost a tub, which filled 2-3 vases, and candles are so cheap from craft, houseware stores or Ikea (I got most of my candles from Ikea, GREAT prices on that type of thing).

For the smaller vases I made vellum paper covers so they looked like custom lanterns. I printed some on my computer with the table numbers on them and then used double-sided tape to stick them to the outside of the vase. I got jumbo tealights from Ikea (24 for ) for the bottom of the vase. Everyone thought it was a really unique way to display the table numbers, as part of the centerpiece display. I had two table number lanterns on each table, and then two custom lanterns with our initials on them. (We had long, rectangle tables, not rounds, but I think the same thing could work with round tables too.)

To do the custom lanterns I used a rubber stamp from a Martha Stewart craft set, that comes with the letters to customize. Then I just used red ink to stamp each piece of the vellum and taped those on to the vases. They looked really pretty! And we used the stamp for our programs and had the baker emulate the design for the cake, so everything tied together really well.

This is what the tables and lanterns looked like:

      Table Lantern

It would be very easy to incorporate your colours with these types of ideas, since you would just need to use the right colours for the candles, sand for the vases, ink, etc. I got the idea for the vellum lanterns from the Martha Stewart Weddings website, and they even have printable templates with patterns to print right on the vellum, instead of using rubber stamps. I know that blue and orange were popular with her magazine’s photos last year, so I think some of the templates even come in orange and blue, right from your printer!

      http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/decoration-templates?#slide_5

      http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/decoration-templates?#slide_8

      http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/decoration-templates?#slide_7

Again, all the tables cost less than each. We had 8 tables, so that was barely 0 for the table decor … and it looked SO good, people would definitely NOT think that we didn’t spend very much money on decor!

      Good Luck!

  25. QUESTION:
Wedding centerpiece ideas to go with red linens?
So I’m planning a mid summer wedding and the hall I’m using has red linens you can use for free. I’m trying to stay in budget so does anyone have any ideas for centerpieces I could use on red tablecloths in a hall? The hall is log interior with a dark stain. I want to try to keep it summery. I know it’s going to be hard with red… What do you suggest?

    • ANSWER:
You could try using red with some hints of pink – I think that the pink would give it a more light and summery feel.
Here is something that you could do: http://www.bloomcountry.com/images/item/lg_StrawberryMargarita-Web850982.jpg

Maybe you could try to use strawberries in your centerpieces. Strawberries usually are associated with summer – and you could do something fairly simple, like this: http://www.platinumfloral.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/strawberry-martini-glass.jpg
      Or this: http://www.shamrockaffiliations.ws/images/rectangular_candle_and_strawberries_centerpiece_LRG.jpg
Or you could use a lantern, then sprinkle white, red and pink rose petals around it, like this:

  28. QUESTION:
Wedding Centerpieces and Favor that you can make yourself?
Hey my aunt is going to get married in may and i am supposed to help her plan the wedding. Any ideas or websites for ideas for centerpieces and favors. The cheaper the better but I really want it to look nice, my aunt doesn’t have that much money for the wedding, she is paying for alot of it herself. Any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Either have edible favors such as wrapped candy, or else skip it. It’s gets tossed out otherwise and the money can easily be spent elsewhere instead where guests will actually appreciate it such as an extra hour for the dj or an extra appetizer or hour of open bar.

For centerpieces, just have unscented candles in tall glass shades that you can get cheap at Walmart in the craft section. Most venues require that the glass be at least 2 inches taller than the flame to prevent fire hazards.

  32. QUESTION:
What do you think about about using live goldfish in fishbowls as a wedding centerpiece?
My cousin is getting married in two weeks and yesterday, she confided in me at her sister’s wedding that she was going to have live goldfish at her own wedding as a centerpiece. I happen to raise koi myself so I was a little concerned about the treatment of the goldfish. Should I try to persuade her out of it or just let it be?

    • ANSWER:
I think the health of the goldfish is definitely a concern! If they’re not in the right kind of water, they could die.

Since you raise koi, maybe you could offer to help her set up the fish bowls? You could find gravel or river beads that match their decor, and then several hours before the wedding help set the fish up. Your cousin might consider giving a fish tank as a gift, and while the happy couple are on their honeymoon, you could transfer the fish to their new tank at the couple’s house… with instructions on how to care for them.

  34. QUESTION:
Is gorilla glue a good idea for wedding centerpieces?
Hi am doing wedding centerpieces and am adding ribbon and pearls to a glass bubble bowl with a hot glue gun, but when I see them the next day the are falling off. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to use gorilla glue?

    • ANSWER:
gorilla glue is a moisture cure urethane that bubbles (CO2) from the reaction with water. It won’t work well for this project. go to the hobby shop and buy some acrylic hobby glue (gold bottle with white lettering). Called Aleen’s Tacky Glue.

super clue can work. It is not the best choice- the bond is not stable with water. It also leaves white residue all over the place from the reaction products inside (inhibited by O2, accelerated with alcohol).

  38. QUESTION:
Has anyone ever given away their wedding centerpieces at the end of the reception?
Our wedding centerpieces are beautiful, but we just don’t have a need for 21 glass bowls, glass beads, or the floating candles that we have in them. I was thinking of putting a card underneath one chair at every table and towards the end of the reception, whoever has the card under their chair gets to take the centerpiece home with them.

    • ANSWER:
My aunt did that. It was kind of awkward. Some chairs were unattended, some people didn’t want them. It was a small mess to be honest. Rather than that, why don’t you just have your bridesmaids, while they are mingling, try to find homes for them? Spread the word quitely that if someone would like to take them home, they may. Or take them all home and try to give them away to your family after if they don’t all leave.

      Good luck!

  39. QUESTION:
What are some wedding centerpiece ideas?
Does anyone know of some cute wedding centerpieces I could use for my upcoming wedding. I want to do something with vases and floating candles. If you have any cool, unique ideas please let me know! :)

    • ANSWER:
How about cylinder vases with flowers in them and the candles on top. Heres a picture of something like that. http://www.wedding-centerpiece.net/images/Floating_wedding_candles.jpg
The flowers can be matched to your colors.

  40. QUESTION:
Looking for cheap ribbon to make roses for Wedding centerpieces?
I’m looking for some super inexpensive ribbon to make ribbon rose arrangements for wedding centerpieces. The color of the bridesmaid dresses are sangria and they are carrying pink, and yellow roses. I wanted to make a bouquet ribbon roses for the tables and seeing as our wedding is music themed, have them wrapped in music note ribbon.

    I need about 30 centerpieces.

I’m also looking for a wide, cheap satin sangria color ribbon for the card box I’m making.

    • ANSWER:
Unless you happen to run into a fabric store going out of business, I think you are NOT going to find ribbon as inexpensively as you want. Ribbon roses are ridiculously expensive just because of the materials, and then multiply that by how many roses per table than then by 30 tables — and what on earth are you going to do with them later? I suggest you consider skipping all that use of ribbon and do something else instead. A bud vase with a single rose on each table (or a small glass bowl with one rose blosson floating) will be lovely. Later on, you can put the bud vases or small bowls away to lend or give to a friend, sell them to a florist, put them in a garage sale, etc. (My chef brother-in-law says small glass bowls would be great to have in the kitchen for all sorts of things, but particularly as “prep bowls”.)

  41. QUESTION:
Does anyone know what is a good fish for wedding centerpieces?
My fiance and me had this idea of putting two live fish on our centerpieces for our wedding. But I don’t know anything about fish!

Can someone help me indicating which one is the best? The centerpieces are going to be a cylinder of 20′tall and 6′diameter.

    • ANSWER:
      none…yuck!

im not an animal rights activist or anything like that, but fish as centerpieces just gross me out. not to mention they will die, probably before the reception starts. then your guests will have to try to choke down their food while staring at dead floating fish.

  44. QUESTION:
Any thoughts on where to find bulk glass vases for wedding centerpieces – cheap?
I’m looking for either rectangular or cylindrical clear glass vases for my wedding centerpieces. I’m planning to be simple – red roses. Black, ivory and red wedding colors. Thanks for your thoughts!
I’ve checked out Michaels, Hobby Lobby and the DollarTreeDirect site. The first two had what I was looking for. I’m trying to get a grouping of vases for the centerpiece – so maybe 3-5 of varying sizes. Because of that – the cost adds up quickly. I’m still not opposed to just getting one and doing candles or something else small around the bigger, main vase.

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Try the crafts department at Wal-Mart.

      Also check out Oriental Trading

  49. QUESTION:
need ideas for wedding table centrepieces?
i don’t want to spend a lot as they will be thown after the wedding but any ideas? my theme is silver white and midnight blue, i am english and hubby to be is scottish so wanna include some scottish theme in it as well

    • ANSWER:
What if you just did a small vase of roses/flowers. Then you can stick one little Scottish Flag and one little English Flag in the center of the vase – it would look really cute on the table and definitely would honor both the Scottish and English heritage…
Or maybe you could get a vase of flowers and tie some kilt material around it – like this:

      http://corinna.tfsb.org/pictures/d/13077-1/Centerpieces.jpg

Or maybe you could make a centerpiece made with Scottish Shortbread – you could get some of those cookie display plates and decorate it with cloth, flowers – then add the shortbread. This way the guests can enjoy the edible centerpieces. Like these:

  50. QUESTION:
What do I do when I bought my wedding centerpieces and want new ones?
I have bought enough centerpieces for my wedding at least the main dish bowls and now…after having them a while I decided i don’t like them anymore…what should I do? I don’t think I can return them…but I definitely want new ones..

    • ANSWER:
Use them for some other purpose, and get something else. And in case you are interested, I figured out that you could make the decorations to hang on the end of the aisles to be used again on the tables as centerpieces….you can do this by making them out of silk flowers (or real ones), ribbon, etc….(I used the silk, and could make them ahead)…then on the day of the wedding add real fern and baby’s breathe to them and they will look totally real)….then have someone take them off at the end of the wedding and move them to the reception dinner tables…they get double duty!…You can also add candles in the middle of them on the tables.

Since you don’t like the bowls….you can always “try: to return them…they might give you some kind of credit for them….or just save them for another occasion.

If you like the silk flower idea….get ones that look like real flowers, add them to a bow or whatever else you want with them and hang them on the pews, or candleholders with pipe cleaners so they can be removed easily. Works great!
