Spring and summer are wonderful seasons in which to plan a wedding, but the sights and colors of winter, while of a different mood entirely, can be just as special. A winter wedding, held in the midst of the holiday season, can make this special time of year even more so. With families often getting together to celebrate the holidays, this can be a particularly good time for a wedding, as you may be able to invite people who might not have the opportunity to attend a spring or summer wedding.
Whether you chose the winter because it is a matter of convenience, or because you love the season, it is certain that many elements of your wedding, including decorations, flowers, and of course the invitations, should be quite different from what they might be if you held your wedding in the warmer months.
Invitations for a winter wedding very often include different colors, styles, and decorative elements to suit the theme of the season. Let your imagination run wild with deep, warm colors, cool icy blues and greens, or even a tinge of yellow or orange to lend some warmth to the season!
There are some stunning winter-themed invitations available, perfect for a wedding planned for the colder months. Whether you want to represent the season with a well-chosen image or watermark, or by choosing colors that evoke the mood of winter, you have a wide range of wedding invitation options.
Let it Snow!
Winter-themed images or watermarks are an excellent option for enhancing the winter theme for your wedding invitations. Sparkling snowflakes are the ideal way to add a romantic element to your invitations, especially when printed in silver ink on shimmering white, pink, or blue card stock. The classic elegance of delicate snowflakes creates the perfect timeless look. They are a wonderful choice for a wedding invitation that would look equally as good at home for a traditional or a contemporary style wedding.
For a more original winter wedding theme, there are plenty of other image options. Evoke the mood of a shimmering Christmas with glamorous silver invitations that depict snowy fir trees and fluffy snow banks, or play up the romantic element again with a snowy winter scene and delicate hearts and snowflakes to let everyone know the hearts of the happy couple are warm during the midst of winter!
If you prefer a more subtle design, try considering a watermark, rather than an actual image. The subtlety of a watermark is particularly elegant, with its understated adornment, and adds a certain ‘something’ to any invitation style. A watermark, or a raised rather than a printed image, is a highly attractive decorative element that makes just as strong a statement as a printed image, but in a way that makes these options perfect for more traditional wedding invitations.
Choosing Winter Colors
When it comes to choosing a color scheme, in most cases, your winter wedding invitations play off the colors of your wedding itself, but you may decide to choose different colors for your invitations or you may have already chosen some winter-themed colors and would like to complement those.
There are some excellent winter choices for invitation colors. Some color choices include dark purples, serene blues, and velvety greens, to brighter versions of these shades to bring alive the colors of winter. Silver, gold and pearl, pale pinks and blues, or the warm browns that evoke hot-spiced apple cider are all wonderful colors with which to adorn a winter wedding invitation.
There are just as many options for ink colors, but remember that whichever colors you choose, your winter-themed wedding invitations should have ink and background colors which contrast strongly, so that the text can be ready without any trouble.
If you prefer a more understated look when it comes to color choices, an excellent option is to keep the invitations and the envelope exterior in subtle colors such as white, silver, or off-white. You can then to add a touch of bright, bold color in the envelope’s interior.
Deep plum, lapis, or spicy cinnamon colors would be the perfect complement to a more traditional-looking off-white invitation with elegant silver ink. In fact, the silver ink and white or off-white invitation looks stunning with almost any envelope color you can think of, from blues and purples to warm orange and brown, to deep hunter greens or brighter limes. Choose different ink colors or card stock tones for a more contemporary look. You may also want to add an image or watermark, and you should be able to instantly create the ultimate in winter wedding invitations. The winter is a great time to get married and there are many types of wedding invitations available. While planning a winter wedding be sure to keep these tips in mind and you should find excellent wedding invitations for a winter wedding.

QUESTION:
Can someone help me with some summer wedding color combinations?
I’m getting married next summer and I’m having trouble coming up with color combinations that go well together. Can you give me some good ideas of color combos that go well together for summer? If you have pictures that would be wonderful. I’m getting married outdoors, if that’s any help.-
ANSWER:
Congratulations! First of all for Summer I would stay away from dark colours! I have always suggested looking at wedding bouquets online. It is easier to see colours working in harmony that way. I actually chose my wedding colours from a bouquet that I loved! It’s easier than you think. Save all the ones you like to your computer and if you also have a photo of your dress and the bridesmaids dresses you can see if your choices will blend and harmonize together. I am doing Latte coloured dresses for my bridesmaids because I want the flowers and the girls beauty to be the focal point not the dress! For Summer I would say bright colours like Peridot green and Fuscia with accents of white and light Pink.

QUESTION:
What Wedding Color Combination Goes Best?
Our wedding is April of next year in the Botanical Gardens of Fort Worth, TX.
We have decided that our base color will be honeydew green; however I have not decided the color combination that will go best with that green. I have considered soft yellows, different ranges of pink, and purple. If you have any suggestions please be specific in colors and if you have a link, that would be great!-
ANSWER:
First, consider this: in the sunlight all the dresses will look much lighter than they will indoors. So a medium pink will look very pale pink; a nice yellow will look ivory, etc.I would choose some bright colors, at least as accents to the green already chosen. If the bridesmaids’ dresses will be the honeydew, then choose very bright flowers for them and for you. Ask the mothers, aunts, & sisters to wear brights, too.
This will really look better in pictures!

QUESTION:
What color combinations would be good for a beach wedding?
It’ll be located in Santorini, Greece. I was thinking turquoise and white but I’m having second thoughts now since so many brides incorporate those two colors in their wedding.
And nothing pink, please–I hate pink.
How about teal and white?
NinaPina: Yes it’ll be a sunset wedding, so maybe the blue might not work out.-
ANSWER:
The most traditional beach wedding color palette seems to be white, a sand color, and a pale blue (or a brighter blue, like turquoise or teal).
Example: http://aproposcreations.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/beach-themed-wedding.jpgI’ve seen quite a few weddings that add a light green into that mix. Using just white, sand, and green is pretty popular too, and I think it’s very pretty; it’s also nice because it’s more unexpected than the traditional color palette. This is my favorite, and the traditional palette is the runner up.
Exampe: http://aileentran.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Details-starfish-beach-wedding.jpgSome people even use red (which I’m not a big fan of, but I’ve been seeing it with increasing frequency). If it’s done well, it looks very nice–I think it has bit more of a tropical feel. If you’re having a sunset wedding, I think it would be a very nice choice.
Example: http://weddings.theknot.com/Real-Weddings/75788/detailview.aspx?id=75788&type=3&RPID=2Another nice one is coral and the sandy cream color, though that might be a little too close to pink for you.

QUESTION:
What shirt/tie color combinations should I wear for my wedding reception?
I’m wearing a gray suit (slightly dark shade of gray but not charcoal). Turquoise is the prominant color that will be used for decorations so it would be great if I could match/blend with it but I’m open to whatever will look nice as well.-
ANSWER:
You do not want to be remembered as the guy who matched the table linens, so i suggest you wear whatever the hell you like. Its your wedding reception, you could go with a lobster bib and it would be fine. Truthfully, I would make your own tie. Layout an old tie on a table, trace the shape and cut out fabric.

QUESTION:
Wedding Color Motifs?
Hi! I’m planning my wedding color combinations motif. Which 2 color motifs that suits best? Thanks!
-
ANSWER:
Wow that’s difficult. You don’t have any preference at all?!?What colors do you like best? I mean there are some that in my opinion are overused (blue and silver, tiffany blue and brown). Some people pick their favorite color and their groom’s favorite. You can either go with complimentary colors that are across the color wheel from each other (think purple and green, blue and orange). Or you can go for colors in the same palette, for example Chocolate and champagne, two shades of green like sage and moss, a nautical theme with true blue and light blue.
Pick up a color wheel. That should help. What are your surroundings? Often you are limited to your colors if the hall you want has red carpet or something.
My suggestion is to pick 2 colors from the same Crayola box. Like the pastel box: pick pale pink and mint green. From the bold box: lime green and fushia. But don’t mix between unless you are doing the same color in different shades.
It’s always good to suit the season. Usually people use pastels in spring, bolder colors in summer, fall colors in fall. Often people like to use a neutral color–cream or a metallic b/c that will match anything.

QUESTION:
Any suggestions for theme color or colors for my wedding?
What are some of the most creative colors or color combinations you have ever seen for a wedding?
Any suggestions??-
ANSWER:
I suggest using:1. Your favorite color. (The shade you use can depend on the season. For example, in spring you could use a pastel shade of your favorite color. In December, you could opt for a jewel tone.)
2. The white or ivory of your bridal gown.
3. The dark color of the mens’ tuxes. If you feel three colors are not enough? Then bring in bright colors with your flower choices.
If the bride does not have a favorite color? Then she could use the groom’s favorite color.
Check out color combos at The Knot.
http://wedding.theknot.com/wedding-colors.aspx
If a theme and tons of ideas don’t instantly pop into your mind? Then skip the theme. “We-are-getting-married” is theme enough.

QUESTION:
I need help trying to pick out and outfit for my friends wedding? Cant figure out color combinations.?
I need help picking out an outfit for my friends wedding. I have decided that i do not want to wear a suit as that is too common and not as stylish. My friend does not mind it either. I am 18 so the suit also becomes very adult looking at least I personally think so. I have my mind leaning towards wearing dress pants, dress shirt and a vest. I have not decided if i should wear a tie or not. And cannot pick out the color for any of these. So I would like to know in general would an outfit like this be acceptable?
What color pant to wear? With light stripes on it or not? How would grey or black look?
What color dress shirt to wear? Fitted or not? Light or dark colored? How about a blue or purple?
What color vest to wear? How many buttons? Should i wear it at all or not? Grey or black?
Also should I wear a tie or not? What Color if yes? And skinny tie? Fat tie? Regular tie?The colors i suggested are just some ideas I have in my mind but your input would be highly appreciated.
Thank You very much
Also this is for a mens outfit. I am 18 so i am trying to look stylish, fashionable, something that may be “in” but decent at the same time.

QUESTION:
How to choose wedding colors?
My fiance and I, are getting married next May; We are having a hard time deciding on wedding colors and combinations. We had originally said navy blue and white, but navy blue is a winter color and we are having a spring wedding. I was wondering if you knew of websites that offered different spring wedding color combinations or if you could tell me about your own decision of color choices, for your wedding. I just can’t seem to pick. Any help that you could offer with picking the colors, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks So Much!
-
ANSWER:
Navy is actually a very good color for all seasons. Like one of the previous answers said, if you think of it in a nautical way it’s very common for summer/late spring and it goes perfectly with white. I think you should stick with the navy and white but maybe add a little pop of color here and there. A light yellow or soft pink would work very well with navy. That way, it doesn’t get too dull.We picked out two favorite colors and then added a third that we both liked. It sounds like it would be a horrendously “loud” combination of colors, but ours are bright orange, pink, and marine blue (it’s really just a bright, tropical-looking blue) and I’m really digging how it’s turning out. It really stands out, not just because it’s ours, but because every other wedding I’ve been to has paired a light color with a dark color or two light colors and they just all seem to blend together so that I can’t tell which wedding was whose. This way, the colors will make sure that our wedding is remembered.
TheKnot.com has this really cool section where you can view different color combinations based on one central color (for example: I picked the color pink in this section and TheKnot.com showed me a whole bunch of different combinations of various shades of pink paired with other colors. The only downside is that the website requires you to sign up before you can view more than a couple pages. But then you get access to all the cool things on there.

QUESTION:
Aqua wedding colour combinations?
I would love to have a aqua and peach vintage/antique wedding. Obviously there are 1000s of colours similar to peach i.e. apricot, watermelon etc. What is best, and do they suit? I want aqua to be the main colour, with peach as highlights.
Please show examples!
Also do most people use their wedding colours in their engagement party?
Aqua is non-negotiable, it’s the highlighting colour I don’t know about.
Plus bridesmaids will pick their own dress in aqua, preferably chiffon or lace.-
ANSWER:
I love Aqua.
Aqua & Crimson would be amazing and that’s actually pretty popular right now. I think you can use those 2 colors as your main colors and throw in subtle peach details.
Usually the wedding colors are incorporated into what the bridal party would be wearing.
As far as the engagement party goes, it can be anything you want. My engagement party was sort of Vegas themed, a lot of black & red and my actual wedding colors will be plum & champagne with touches of burnt orange and ivory.

My fiance really likes the color of peridot green and I just love the color of Amethsyt. We were thinking about using these as our wedding colors. But somebody told me that they would look horrendous together. Is this true and what do you think about this color combo.
Plus any ideas on how I could possibly use these colors in the wedding party and reception hall.-

I think the colors look great together. I am considering a very similar color palette. Try Googling “purple and green wedding” and look at Google images and see what comes up.Here are some pictures that I have bookmarked:

I think it’d be lovely to have the bridesmaids in purple carrying either mostly green flowers but maybe with a hint of purple and maybe a hint berry. Although I have seen pictures of the bridesmaids wearing light green dresses and carrying purple flowers and that looked lovely too. But I think the girls would rather wear purple gowns than green gowns?

QUESTION:
I need color ideas for my wedding. Anyone have any good ideas?
My wedding is in August and I need some color combination ideas. I like classic, but not boring. Im up for any ideas.-
ANSWER:
Using Pantone Color Names—go to this site http://www.dessy.com and click on Pantone Weddings, Look at spring/summer colors for 2011 and click on inspiration boards which are color themes put together by other brides. Personally, I do not like black.
Top ten Spring Colors
Honeysuckle, Coral Rose, Peapod, Beeswax, Silver Peony, russet, Regatta, blue Curacao, Lavender and Silver Cloud
If you like purples try–lilac, lavender, periwinkle, purple and sky blue as an accent
If you love bright pink try-hot pink, fuschia, light pink, red add Lime or tangerine as accent color
If you like warm oranges try-Tangerine, coral, Red, add soft Violet, Sky Blue or fuchsia as your accent color.
If you like burgundy try-drk green, golds, Champagne,Creams and any of these as your accent
If you love blues try-deep ocean blue, navy, sky blue, periwinkle and tangerine, silver or sandy brown as your accent.Summer colors–red, yellow, orange, coral, fuschia, blue, sky blue, green, lime, lilac and lavender.
Some inspiration boards:
Rainbow Sherbet–Mustard gold, clover(medium olive green) and fuschia
Pretty as Punch–orange, hot pink, lime, pink, (apple slice, pretty in pink, firecracker)
Summer Fun–Kelly green, dark pink (fuschia), coral (clementine), aqua/turquoise (oasis) and teal
Jeweled Peacock–deep aquamarine (oasis) fuschia ink (american beauty) sapphire, african violet (plum) and shamrock (kelly green)
Colorful Summer-mustard/matte gold(daisy)–navy(midnight)–aquamarine and sunflower
Spring-Summer Petals
hot pink/fuschia (american beauty)–ice pink–rose quartz and clover (a pretty medium oliveish green)
Summer Sun–medium pink (nectar)–clementine (deep peach)–amethyst (a navy/purple blue)—tea rose (mauve) and rose quartz–a deeper honeysuckle pink
Summer Joy–matte yellow/gold (daisy)–aquamarine–pistachio (mild lime) and wild berry (eggplant)
These are my favorite combos. It is hard to pick just one. I think my fav. would be
bridesmaids in turquoise with other colors fuschia, deep pink (the new honeysuckle deep pink) matte gold/yellow, coral and lime green. These colors other than turquoise, make a beautiful bouquet and the turquoise is the perfect background to “show them off” —– Flowers, Fuschia carnations or dahlias, deep pink roses, yellow spider mums or calla lillies, coral lillies or spray roses, some alstromeria (a small peruvian lillie that comes in many varigated colors–a good filler flower) and the lime green cymbidium orchid with burgundy/fuschia center. This is a perky summer color, August is the last of summer and I like to spice it up before fall colors.

QUESTION:
Wedding color insights? Would this look good?
My colors were going to be ocean blue and white, but I found it very difficult to find blue things for the wedding. I changed my color to white and black after looking at invitations with some scrollwork and vintage-looking designs on them. I decided to go with that. I was told black and white might be too much, and I should add a hint of another color in there, like red or green. What do you think? And if you have any color combinations you like, feel free to suggest those.-
ANSWER:
Adding another color is a good idea and you could even add in the blue that you were originally going for as an accent.http://www.lazybride.com/.a/6a00d8341f404b53ef00e554df46718833-500wi

QUESTION:
What is a beautiful color combination for a Spring wedding?
Two colors for a spring wedding-
ANSWER:
First I love your name I’m a Shanna too.
my fav wedding pics are from my mom’s wedding she had a rainbow of colour all pastel and bright . The girls all had the same dress but she let them pick the most colour for each of them. Which would work great because Hershey’s puts out kisses with all different pastel coloured wrappers. You could also have any kind of flowers because it would just look fresh and Spring like. I got married New Years Eve and we did pastel blue and lettuce green(Alfred Angelo colour palette) I think if I could go back I would have added a pastel purple and maybe a light yellow(my daughter is beautiful in yellow.)

QUESTION:
I need a color combination for my beach ceremony and ballroom reception wedding please help?
I hate the color red the wedding is held in the summer-
ANSWER:
Why don’t you get your inspiration from the colors of Mother Nature depending on what time of the day your beach ceremony is? You can then incorporate these to your ballroom wedding, again based on nature’s changing hues according to the time of your reception.
This might need a few days’ of observing the beach where you’re having your ceremony or some similar environment.

QUESTION:
Good wedding combination colors for late summer early fall?
I’m getting married in September of 2011, I know its pretty far off. But my fiance and I are having the hardest times picking colors. It’s an outdoor wedding in Iowa. He wanted blue or red, but I want more fall and rustic colors. Ideas please!-
ANSWER:
There are many color combinations that could be chose, But keeping in mind that you wanted more fall rustic colors i would go with harvest colors such as a rustic orange darker yellow and to keep with your husbands wants a deeper not so flat and plain red. Try not to add too much white, itll take away from the feel and make it seem cold and winterish. Good Luck!

ANSWER:
Do you really think your guests will be looking at your wedding party and thinking to themselves “wow, this is a nice wedding, but the bridesmaids’ dresses do not match the floor.”Do you think people will be
a) looking at the walls;
b) looking at the floors; or
c) looking at the faces of the people in front of themAnd in a room filled with people, tables, flowers, activity, dancing, drinking…do you really think people are going to really notice the backs of chair covers, the carpeting, or the wallpaper in relationship to your bridesmaids’ dresses….especially if the decor sn’t so butt ugly and tacky that if screams for attention.
