      Congratulations! First of all for Summer I would stay away from dark colours! I have always suggested looking at wedding bouquets online. It is easier to see colours working in harmony that way. I actually chose my wedding colours from a bouquet that I loved! It’s easier than you think. Save all the ones you like to your computer and if you also have a photo of your dress and the bridesmaids dresses you can see if your choices will blend and harmonize together. I am doing Latte coloured dresses for my bridesmaids because I want the flowers and the girls beauty to be the focal point not the dress! For Summer I would say bright colours like Peridot green and Fuscia with accents of white and light Pink.

      I used aqua as the main color, ivory for my dress and table lines, platinum with ivory for plates, platinum vases for decorations, etc and pink and ivory flowers. The pictures turned out prettier than I expected. Soft and elegant but colorful accents.

      We were originally thinking aqua and purple as inspired by colored vanda orchids, some of the prettiest weddings I have seen were coral and champagne, pink and lime and believe it or not black and yellow

      you just have to take your favorite colour (what is it?) and your florist will help you blend in other colours with it – that’s another thing, I sometimes look at bouquet colour combinations to decide on what looks well together that way.

      First, consider this: in the sunlight all the dresses will look much lighter than they will indoors. So a medium pink will look very pale pink; a nice yellow will look ivory, etc.

      I would choose some bright colors, at least as accents to the green already chosen. If the bridesmaids’ dresses will be the honeydew, then choose very bright flowers for them and for you. Ask the mothers, aunts, & sisters to wear brights, too.
      This will really look better in pictures!

      The most traditional beach wedding color palette seems to be white, a sand color, and a pale blue (or a brighter blue, like turquoise or teal).

      I’ve seen quite a few weddings that add a light green into that mix. Using just white, sand, and green is pretty popular too, and I think it’s very pretty; it’s also nice because it’s more unexpected than the traditional color palette. This is my favorite, and the traditional palette is the runner up.

      Wow that’s difficult. You don’t have any preference at all?!?

      What colors do you like best? I mean there are some that in my opinion are overused (blue and silver, tiffany blue and brown). Some people pick their favorite color and their groom’s favorite. You can either go with complimentary colors that are across the color wheel from each other (think purple and green, blue and orange). Or you can go for colors in the same palette, for example Chocolate and champagne, two shades of green like sage and moss, a nautical theme with true blue and light blue.

      Pick up a color wheel. That should help. What are your surroundings? Often you are limited to your colors if the hall you want has red carpet or something.

      My suggestion is to pick 2 colors from the same Crayola box. Like the pastel box: pick pale pink and mint green. From the bold box: lime green and fushia. But don’t mix between unless you are doing the same color in different shades.

      It’s always good to suit the season. Usually people use pastels in spring, bolder colors in summer, fall colors in fall. Often people like to use a neutral color–cream or a metallic b/c that will match anything.

      Navy is actually a very good color for all seasons. Like one of the previous answers said, if you think of it in a nautical way it’s very common for summer/late spring and it goes perfectly with white. I think you should stick with the navy and white but maybe add a little pop of color here and there. A light yellow or soft pink would work very well with navy. That way, it doesn’t get too dull.

      We picked out two favorite colors and then added a third that we both liked. It sounds like it would be a horrendously “loud” combination of colors, but ours are bright orange, pink, and marine blue (it’s really just a bright, tropical-looking blue) and I’m really digging how it’s turning out. It really stands out, not just because it’s ours, but because every other wedding I’ve been to has paired a light color with a dark color or two light colors and they just all seem to blend together so that I can’t tell which wedding was whose. This way, the colors will make sure that our wedding is remembered.

      TheKnot.com has this really cool section where you can view different color combinations based on one central color (for example: I picked the color pink in this section and TheKnot.com showed me a whole bunch of different combinations of various shades of pink paired with other colors. The only downside is that the website requires you to sign up before you can view more than a couple pages. But then you get access to all the cool things on there.

    I would love to have a aqua and peach vintage/antique wedding. Obviously there are 1000s of colours similar to peach i.e. apricot, watermelon etc. What is best, and do they suit? I want aqua to be the main colour, with peach as highlights.

    Aqua is non-negotiable, it’s the highlighting colour I don’t know about.
    Plus bridesmaids will pick their own dress in aqua, preferably chiffon or lace.

      I love Aqua.
      Aqua & Crimson would be amazing and that’s actually pretty popular right now. I think you can use those 2 colors as your main colors and throw in subtle peach details.
      Usually the wedding colors are incorporated into what the bridal party would be wearing.
      As far as the engagement party goes, it can be anything you want. My engagement party was sort of Vegas themed, a lot of black & red and my actual wedding colors will be plum & champagne with touches of burnt orange and ivory.

    My fiance really likes the color of peridot green and I just love the color of Amethsyt. We were thinking about using these as our wedding colors. But somebody told me that they would look horrendous together. Is this true and what do you think about this color combo.

      I think it’d be lovely to have the bridesmaids in purple carrying either mostly green flowers but maybe with a hint of purple and maybe a hint berry. Although I have seen pictures of the bridesmaids wearing light green dresses and carrying purple flowers and that looked lovely too.       my fav wedding pics are from my mom’s wedding she had a rainbow of colour all pastel and bright . The girls all had the same dress but she let them pick the most colour for each of them. Which would work great because Hershey’s puts out kisses with all different pastel coloured wrappers. You could also have any kind of flowers because it would just look fresh and Spring like.       Why don’t you get your inspiration from the colors of Mother Nature depending on what time of the day your beach ceremony is? You can then incorporate these to your ballroom wedding, again based on nature’s changing hues according to the time of your reception.
      This might need a few days’ of observing the beach where you’re having your ceremony or some similar environment.

      Do you really think your guests will be looking at your wedding party and thinking to themselves “wow, this is a nice wedding, but the bridesmaids’ dresses do not match the floor.”

      Do you think people will be

      b) looking at the floors; or
      c) looking at the faces of the people in front of them

      And in a room filled with people, tables, flowers, activity, dancing, drinking…do you really think people are going to really notice the backs of chair covers, the carpeting, or the wallpaper in relationship to your bridesmaids’ dresses….especially if the decor sn’t so butt ugly and tacky that if screams for attention.
