     def not.. corsets are already meant to push up and tuck in, so if you get it one size smaller, tendency is you wun be able to breathe comfortably on your wedding day.

3. QUESTION:
   Do I need to wear a bra with my corset wedding dress?
   I have a corset wedding dress and am a bit confused about the undergarment situation. The dress even has a modesty panel (one of those flaps of fabric that go under the lacing portion). I’m more concerned about the support – am I supposed to wear a strapless bra in addition to the corseted dress?

   • ANSWER:
     No….you don’t need cups. The corset, depending on how tight you tie it will keep the girls exactly where they belong.

     You can use the modesty piece or not. Depends on how low the corset ties.

     The corset dresses are so heavily boned you don’t have to worry about undergarments.

     There is a trick. Before they tie you in, bend over, while bent over get the grils in position and then
     hang on to the dress and the girls till they get you tied in, It works every time.

5. QUESTION:
   Do you think strapless corset wedding gowns with big puffy bottons will be available in years to come?
   I have a problem with fitting with my breasts due to tissue being removed from one and i tried on a strappless ballgown corset wedding dress even though my wedding isnt for 3 or so more years. and i dont need a bra or anything it makes me look great so i wanted to know if they will still be available you think?

     Of course they will still be available! And you can always start a scrapbook of what you would like your dress to be like and have it custom made. That way, you can be sure to have exactly the perfect dress that you will love! And who knows what they will come up with in the years to come! Wedding style is constantly changing.      i would check any fabric store. i don’t know what could specifically be used for a corset but i’m sure a salesperson would be able to tell you which satin cording would be strong enough to hold the corset.

    Would my corset wedding gown harm my unborn baby?
    I just found out that im definitely prego prob 4 weeks along. Im supposed to be getting married in may. I’ve already got my dress and it is a corset style gown. Will I be too far along for it to be safe to wear if I can even get into it.

      While it isn’t necessarily unsafe for you to wear a corset during pregnancy (they actually make pregnancy corsets that can help with back pain and posture issues), I’m willing to bet that you probably won’t be able to fit into your dress enough to have it laced up.

      As one poster mentioned, something loose and flowy with an empire waist would be much more comfortable and easier to fit into.

11. QUESTION:
    How to lace up a corset backed wedding gown?
    My matron of honour needs to know how to lace up the back of my wedding gown. I tried to find a site, preferably with pictures, that might help but came up with nothing…can anyone help us?

    • ANSWER:
      I actually just had to do this for one of my best friends. She was married on June 6th and I was in charge of lacing the dress.

      Start at the top and get both strings equal. You need to put your hands on your hips and hold the dress in place where it will be comfortable for the day. keep your hands there the whole time as the dress is being laced.

      Have her go side to side like a shoe while make sure the string is flat not twisted.(it sounds harder thenit is) Then once its laced all the way down…start at the top again and pull the strings tight 1st one side then the other. all the way down and have her keep doing it until its tight enough and you feel comfortable in it.

      I would also have your seamstress show her how to do it.

      Get the type that goes from under your breasts to above your knees cause if you get the half ones then it will leave a roll above your waist so thats why you need the full suit some even come in the shape of an all in one dress no one will even know your wearing it. Go to a lingerie store or a department store that has a wide variety you will know what I am talking about when you see it. Hope i helped.

    how do i wear a corset and lingerie under my wedding dress?
    my wedding dress is strapless and hugs the curves pretty tight i need a corset or a slim vest or something to hide the love handles. but i want lingerie for the steamy night. i want him to undress me and be surprised… but not see the other corset or slimvest hanging out of it

      it depends on the structure of your dress – if it already has a corset the worst thing you could do is add another corset underneath it.lots of wedding dresses have boning,this will give you a good shape anyway.not just that,but some shapewear now is actually pretty sexy – gok wan has a fantastic range (although not sure if you get him where you are,which is a shame cos he really knows how to make a woman feel great)

      look for light shaping (anything stronger will cause bulges as the body is displaced) and smoothing – if you can see lines on the undergarment then it will show through your dress.if you read any bridal magazine they will tell you the same (as will any bride) – you have to compromise and wear the unsexy stuff if you want to look great

      you can buy a bustier and matching knickers or a body suit (panache are pretty good),many have strapless styles.try as many on as possible and move – jump,bend,twist.if its uncomfortable,dont buy.get a proper fitting (not a measurement,as that doesnt work).trust me on at least this part of my advice – im big busted so i have to buy very good lingerie and ive learnt several things over the years.good underwear will cost,but its very much worth it (sort of like shoes,ever heard the phrase,buy cheap,buy twice?).take a tight fitting t-shirt and wear over the top when trying on to see how much will show through.the other thing is that while tempting to get ivory or white,its better to go with nude – white shows under white (believe it or not)

      I really don’t like it. I watch that show too and I hate the see through corsets and the mega plunging necklines. I’m the last person to act prudish, but there’s a time and a place and your wedding isn’t a night out at a club. There’s a difference between sexy and trying too hard to look sexy….and that’s the vibe those dresses give off.

      I also think those brides will look back and think “What the heck was I wearing???”

    I like the idea of this. I know my mother-in-law to-be would disapprove. But would I regret not doing the whole white wedding thing?

      but do think of the future, when you’re showing your wedding photographs to your grandchildren.

      You don’t have to look like a meringue, but you might find something more timeless than black leather, more feminine than leather trousers, and more elegant than a red satin corset.

      On the other hand, it’ll be memorable.

    Need to find matching briefs for my corset for my wedding?
    I bought an Ivory corset from Bras n Things but the undies that it had as a match were ugly, so i didnt get them.
    They are a solid ivory/cream smooth material with lace detail in between the bones.
    I would prefer boyleg, french knickers but not full briefs, in australia, lol.

    I just purchased a strapless wedding dress from David’s Bridal. It laces up the back, and I tried it on with a long line bra/torsette they provided at the time.     How to keep cool during a hot and crowded wedding?
    I’m a bridesmaid next weekend & the wedding is in atlanta. We’ll be outside from 11 am -2 pm taking pictures, talking to the family etc. I want to know how I can remain cool and not be all sweaty, wilted and bright red by the time the wedding starts at 2. Our dresses goes to the floor, have built in corsets & do not breathe whatsoever. How do I keep from becoming smelly and uncomfortable?

      Yes, bring a little fan – either a pretty little hand held one or even a battery operated one (since you’ll just be socializing I’m sure no one will mind!)

      Also make sure you stay OVER hydrated. Drink tons of water and it will definitely help.

      Don’t over do the makeup and hair products either because that will just make for more layers to make you uncomfortable – and your makeup will probably just sweat off anyway.

      Every once in a while, find a shady spot and just relax for a bit. Don’t overexert yourself!

    Where can I find corset making materials for altering a wedding dress that has a zipper back?
    The alteration lady had a type of material that was fabric like with the loops already on the material. I’ve looked but have had no luck. Can anyone help me? I need this desperately for my wedding dress!

      You need boning, a lace (long peace of satin) and the lace up eyelets which can usually be found in the bridal department at Joanns. If you can’t find it, then you can fashion your own with some satin bias tape and some cording.

      I would suggest a convertible push up bra with a lot of padding but keep it natural. This sounds awkward but water or gel filled push up bras feel the most natural.

      I too would recommend http://fairygothmother.co.uk/, they are very good. If you want a good corset, get a real one, not one of those bustiers from a bridal store.

      Also, since you say you don’t want to be “pushed up”, try an underbust corset. You can wear any bra you want. Be sure to read instructions for measuring yourself for a corset – it’s different than normal clothing, since the corset is meant to reduce you.

    can a corset back be added to any wedding dress?
    I think the dress I want is Alfred Angelo 1807, or Venus 889036. I have only seen them online so far so I don’t know which one is better quality but they are very similar. Neither have a corset back and I really want one. Can a corset be added on any dress? Is Alfred Angelo or Venus better quality?

      Can it be done? Yes…

      Is it expensive? Yes…

      Would it be better to just pick out a dress from the millions available that has all the features you want? Yes…

      As for which one is better ‘quality’… Think about this:
      You’re going to wear it for 4 hours, spill wine and sauce on it, smear frosting on it, then step on the train while you are dancing which tears a hole in it and crushes the pearl edging. Then your husband will ‘finesse’ it off of you to consummate the marriage. When you get back from the honeymoon, you’re going to have it mended at a overpriced seamstress, send it to the dry-cleaners and have it ‘boxed’, then stick it in the back of a closet until your grand kids find it and make it into a halloween costume… or sell it as a ‘vintage’ dress on ebay for … that is, if the moths don’t find it first.

    • ANSWER:
      you can get almost any wedding gown salon to add a corset top for you these days. they do it at david’s bridal for an extra charge and i know that many of the orginal gown designers will also do it for an additional charge when you order the gown. most are between 150 and 250 dollars to add in.

      if that won’t work for you, find a seamstress who knows how to work with wedding gowns and have them do it. the main problem is the exra fabric needed for the modesty panel behind the laces. you can use fabric from the length of the gown if you are shorter and having it shortened or you can try to match some fabric from the fabric store, or ask the designer or salon where you are buying it if they can get you a yard or so of extra fabric. or you could just put in a matching lace insert or use a nice satin that matched the ribbon belt.

    How do you feel about a seemingly unconventional wedding?
    My girlfriend and I (she will be my fiancee in the next year or so) were talking about our wedding, and she wants to wear a purple corset top dress she designed for such an occasion. So i told her that if she gets the dress made then I’m wearing a white tuxedo of my design. And then of course we’ll have orchids to compliment our outfits and all the love amenities but I’d like to know how you all think that would look.

      I think it is YOUR wedding and you should both follow your hearts. It is one day to celebrate and do it your way. this is a sacred and one time day and so it should be a day you never forget and treasure always.

    I am looking for a bone corset wedding dress, with maybe a tulle bottom.?
    I know there are plenty of “corset” wedding gowns, but I like the almost see through boned corsets. I would wear a thin white shirt below, but I like how it’s very thin and delicate.       One thing that you can do, that i did at a wedding. Have your groomsmen walk up and line grooms side of the aisle and have your bridesmaids walk up and line the other side. They all will be holding a few flowers. And as you walk up and pass by them they hand you the flowers. then have your mom and his mom when you reach them step out and each have a ribbon to tie around the bouquet that you are now holding that is made up of the flowers the wedding party handed you. Then once you reach the front have them (wedding party) two by two come up and take their place beside you and the groom ………. I have tons of other ideas that i have done through the years of doing weddings, but this one is one that always gets the most compliments, on how the brides bouquet was made.

    Good website to look at casual wedding dress styles?
    I’m looking for a relaxed kind of wedding dress suitable for a beach wedding. All the sites I’ve seen have only had a couple of token dresses that aren’t super formal. Does anyone know of a good site that has a signficant range of pictures of more casual styles?     Seamless or regular corset for under my wedding gown?
    I am getting married in March and my gown is a strapless sweatheart top I was wondering which is better for that type of dress a seamless or regular corset? the gown hasn’t been shipped yet so I really don’t have anything to test just yet.

50. QUESTION:
    What type of under garmets are suitable for being unseen underneath a silk satin wedding gown?
    Will the bottom of a corset bra be a bad idea? Would it show through on a wedding gown made of this material? TIA.
    Is there anything other than spanx? They don’t exactly have the supportive bras i’m looking for.

    • ANSWER:
      Go to any to one of the better department stores lingerie department and look for the molded seamless long-line strapless bra. These bras come down to about the belly button and have a smooth cover so that no boning stays show through. If you get it in the nude color it is invisible under the dress. JC Penney catalog have a large selection of bras and sell this type. Davids Bridal also sells this type.

      Usually the bottom edge impression doesn’t show, but if it does, I have solved this problem with my bridal customers by putting the bridal slip over the bra.

      Another approach is to place your body shaper garment over the bra. This worked real well for one of my alterations customers who had a slip dress cut on the bias which tends to show everything.
