   looking for a dress in dublin?
   Does any1 know where I can find a gorgeous dress in Dublin city for a wedding Im going to in a few weeks. Im in Dublin until tomorrow evening. Went shopping today and cannot find a dress anywhere none are dressy enough. Please help

4. QUESTION:
   Renewing our vows in Dublin Ireland?
   We were married in Massachusetts,USA 1996 by justice of the peace.We heard you couldn’t get married in a Catholic Church even if it’s to the same person,but would be able to recieve ”Marraige Blessings.” What Catholic Churches offer Blessings and will we be able to wear wedding attire? I never wore a wedding dress,Now that we have children we would love to dress in wedding attire with our children make it official.We loved The St. Patricks Cathedral not sure they offer Blessings? We are planning to have 15ppl total travel to Dublin Ireland next july.We are also from the US would there also be different steps to take for non residents? thank you

     St Patrick’s Cathedral is not a Roman Catholic cathedral, it’s Church of Ireland

     Are you actually Roman Catholics? If you are Catholics, I would advise you to visit your local parish priest in the US and ask for his advice on marriage blessings then investigate whether it’s possible to do so in a a church in Ireland – he may also have ties to a church in Ireland or be able to make contact with one on your behalf to see if it’s possible for you to receive a marriage blessing

     edit: If Pope Benedict is the head of your church then you’re a Roman Catholic. If you are anything other then a Roman Catholic, Orthodox at a push you won’t be able to get a blessing a Catholic church in Ireland.

     You should speak to your local parish priest to seek advice on the Catholic church’s position on marriage blessings, as I said they may be able to make contact someone in Ireland to find out if it’s possible to have a blessing in an Irish church

     edit2: I’ve been doing a bit of googling & I’ve found companies that arrange renewals of vows (mostly in expensive locations) but it might be worth ringing this one just to see if they can confirm a blessing or renewal of vows can be done in a Catholic church

6. QUESTION:
   Size 18/20 Dress Needed – Dublin Ireland?
   Could anybody please tell me where i can get something spectacular for my sister in laws wedding. Im size 18/20 and really need to look good in fact better than good beside all the inlaws. Does anybody know of where i can go in Dublin????

   • ANSWER:
     Evans does from a size 16-32. There’s an Evans in Liffey Valley, Blancharstown, Henry Street all in Dublin.
     There’s also an Evans in Derry also.

     New Look does an Inspire range that does up to size 22/24 and bigger in some cases. I’m not sure if they do formal dresses or not. There’s a new look in Liffey Valley.

     Debanhams also does formal wear up to size 22/24. There’s one in Blancarstown and Henry Street.

   Buying a Dress For A Wedding ?
   My uncle is getting married in september and i havent got a dress yet.. im 13 and i live in dublin ireland and i havent found the right one yet. im getting really stressed because it seems to be getting closer by the minute and the rest of my family have all got themselves something to wear all except me !
   I have tried places like coast, jane norman and places like them mainly places in ndundrum shopping centre… can anyone list a few for me please ?

     You could have a look in large department stores. They have a lot of concession areas, as well as their own brands, and it’s easier to go to one big store than lots of them.
     You could try H&M, Topshop, River Island, Warehouse, Oasis or even Primark.
     Asos.com has tonnes of lovely dresses which could be suitable for a wedding.

   I am going to a wedding on 1st May and have decided to go to Dublin to shop can ayone recommend a few shops were I could pick up an evening dress?

     Probably best place to try would be Dundrum Shopping Centre,on the Southside of the city,has Harvey Nichols plus lots of top end boutiques.Or you could try Grafton Street,the shopping there is legend,try BrownThomas.

   Any Ideas for a dream wedding?
   Ok so heres the scenario, Ive entered a competition to plan a wedding for a very happy couple in Kilkenny Co Ireland, The cost is anything up to 50,000 euro, Ive included the couples profile below so any ideas would be brilliant be it a childhood dream or an idea your using for your own special day, to give this loving couple the day they truly deserve.

   Our story is a bit long but worth a read – We first met in College in 2003. There was definitely an instant attraction between the two of us. We were on the same course so we shared most of the same classes, same friends and before long we were practically sharing an appt too. We moved in together with 5 other friends in 2nd year, but in 3rd year he left to join the guards so we then began our “long distance” relationship that was to continue until we bought our own house in 2009.
   We got engaged in 2007 at Matt’s passing out much to my amazement but I didn’t even have to think about the answer when he eventually asked (he had gotten down on one knee and when I asked him what was he doing he said as cool as ya like “nothing I have a sore ankle”) We bought a house in Paulstown which I argued is totally half way between Dublin and Kilkenny. He was stationed in Dublin (and still is) and was commuting up and down a few times a week. We had decided to get married that August – 28th August 2009 we had the hotel booked, band booked photographer booked even the dress bought when we found out to our delight that I was pregnant (we had given up on trying for a while) but the baby was due on the 8th of Sept only a week after the wedding was supposed to take place so needless to say a new baby was a little more important so we postponed the wedding. That Sept our beautiful baby daughter Arwen was born. And I can’t tell you how excited we were to learn 3 months later that we would be welcoming another little bambino to our family the following year.

   Wedding prep took the back seat again. Our world was turned upside down two weeks before my due date when we were told that our beautiful daughter had Spina Bifida. I had never heard of this before so after a lot of wiki searching – not recommended – we learned that she would need immediate surgery and would be in hospital for a few weeks after. I won’t bore you with the little details. Alex was born in August and was in hospital for the first 3 weeks of her life. She came home a week before Arwen’s birthday and we had a great big party to celebrate both Arwen’s party and Alex’s home coming.

   It’s been a tough road the last couple of years but it really has brought us closer together and I wouldn’t want to be taking this road with anyone except Matt. He really is my best friend, my soul mate and my rock. I know I can count on him for anything and vice versa,

   We rescheduled the wedding for this Nov but with the cuts in wages – as we all know – and I’m now staying at home to look after our two girls we had to cancel it again. We have considered every possibility down to just the 4 of us going off and getting married because although we have an infinite bond in our children we want to make that extra commitment to each other in the eyes of the church and the law and we want to share our special day with those closest to us who have helped us along the way to get to where we are today.
   The planning will include everything from flowers and theme to wedding dress and music. So any inspiration would be helpful.

10. QUESTION:
    My Fiance’s Mother wants me to change the location of our wedding?
    My Fiance is from Ireland and we live in New Mexico. We’ve been engaged for three months and I’ve already decided on the location and made all of the arrangements for our wedding in September. Now this morning (5:00 am to be exact) my future mother-in-law called and told me that she talked to the Priest that my Fiance grew up with in Dublin and said that she wanted us to be married by him at the church where he was baptized.

    My mother in law is crazy. She has been since the day that I met her and expects these crazy demands and I told her that I’d think about it in order to get her off the phone. It was five am for Christ’s sake!

    With the invitations already sent and all of the arrangements made (Everything is basically set except for the reception location and dress shopping which will happen next week), there is no way in hell that I am changing the location of a beautiful, sunny, and DRY Albuquerque wedding to the dreary, wet, humid and shitty Dubin. No offense to natives but there is a reason why my boyfriend moved away from that place. I’ve been there with him three times and just know that I do not want to be married there.

    Well, she’s having a fit over it and I don’t know what to do. How do you deal with freaking crazy in-laws? I just don’t understand how she can be half way around the world and still drive me up the wall!
    Have you ever been to Dublin? I doubt it. Look it up, all it does is rain there.

    And Timezones? Hmmm… Timezones… you mean that she called me when it was 2:00pm for her? Well how convenient for her and how inconvenient for me. Lets just say that if she had waited three or four more hours I would probably have been up and awake fully prepared for her crazy call. She has NO concern for anybody else. She tends to call her son around midnight or so every few days… What? It’s seven am for her.

      Wow! Yup, your MIL takes the cake!! That’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard…what, would the looney bin not release her to make the trip overseas!?! Is she even paying for the wedding?

      You definitely need to make your fiance handle his crazy mom…do not allow her to place the blame for any disputes on you!!! He should be glad to handle these issues so you aren’t made out to be the bad guy, and make sure he backs you up!! She can’t hold a grudge against her own son, but you… that’s another story

      On the bright side…at least she lives half-way across the globe, OMG could you imagine if she lived near you guys!!!

    1) a antelope was getting married and bought a wedding dress then a herd of buffalo ran her over! She became the first self a dressed stamped antelope!
    2)3 dogs see this mighty fine poodle they run over each other to be the first to talk to her! She says this to them if you put liver and cheese in a original sentence i will go out with you but must show some thought! so golden retriever says i love liver and cheese! how unoriginal is that?

12. QUESTION:
    Does anyone else go to pick up their kids from school to find,?
    a couple of the mum’s are like the stepford wives?
    At our school there are a couple, but one mum in particular must be ill or something! She dresses like she is off to a wedding!
    But it keeps me entertained for the day!
    Anyone see anything like this where they live?
    ( BTW, we live in an posh area in dublin, where there is a lot of new money!)

      No, no one like a Stepford Wife, but I do encounter a woman on a regular basis that is always dressed like she’s about to go walk a street corner.

      Everyday, she is wearing a very short skirt with a low-cut shirt, with what has to be at least 5-inch heels. Her face is caked with a good half a pound of makeup, and she has so much “product” in her hair that I think it’s a fire hazard.

      I personally think she looks horrible, but what really bothers me is that this is an elementary school and I think she sets a really bad example by dressing like that, in front of them, on an everyday basis.

      I got a dress from the House of Fraser website for my sister’s wedding next July. Many of the lines they carry go up to a 20. I particularly like the Episode and Minuet Petit ranges, very flattering and good fabrics. Delivery from the UK is £15, but they deliver within 3 days. There’s also a House of Fraser in Dundrum SC if you want to try before you buy.
