Wedding Photo Ideas

Pictures are an integral 00004000 part of any wedding. Newlyweds are usually thrilled to get their pictures back from the photographer so they can relive their special day. But there are many special activities you can build into a wedding that involve photos.

One fun idea that many brides employ is to take photos of everyone as they arrive at the wedding, almost like you do at a high school prom or company Christmas party. You can provide a backdrop and couples can pose either for a paid photographer or for whoever happens to pick up the camera. These pictures can be taken with a Polaroid camera for instant fun or with a disposable camera. If you want slightly higher quality photos, go for a digital camera.

This can be an excellent way to keep guests busy and happy until the “official” reception begins with the arrival of the bride and groom.

As an extension of that idea, you can take instant photos and create scrapbook pages or memory book pages with the photos. There can be supplies on hand so guests can create pages on site, or pages can be pre-made and photos simply placed into the prepared spaces. If guests don’t want to create pages on site, or the bride doesn’t want this particular activity going on, the photos can be saved for later. As a gift for the bride and groom, someone can create memory books with these photos.

If Polaroid cameras are used, another option is to have the people in the photo sign the Polaroid photo and place that in a basket somewhere. The bride and groom will enjoy looking at the photos later.

While it’s not a particularly unique idea, many brides like to provide disposable cameras on each table at the reception so guests can capture candid shots of the reception and the table guests. These photos can be added to the newlyweds’ wedding album or they can be placed into a separate album showing the wedding from the guests’ perspective.

Another fun activity sure to be entertaining is to create a “silent photo guess” area. Here’s how this works: before the wedding, someone close to the bride and groom collects pictures of the bride and groom at various stages in life. The photos should depict the bride and groom doing things, not at Christmas or with their first birthday cake. In other words, the photos should include some action, but it shouldn’t be obvious in the picture what has taken place or where the person is.

Much like a silent auction, people will come along and look at the photos, then take a silent guess as to what the photos show. They can write their guess on a piece of paper and put it in a numbered basket that corresponds with the number on the photo. Reading these guesses during the reception is entertaining and sure to be amusing. The bride or groom can provide the real answers. This is a particularly fun activity at a relatively small, family wedding where the participants know the bride and groom very well.

If you want to provide an area for guests to have their photos taken but aren’t thrilled with the “prom night” idea, how about having a photo corner set up somewhere in the reception hall or facility. Here, the wedding photographer will take candid shots of wedding guests. They might be couples, but could also be entire families, friends having a good time, or the groom being carried on the shoulders of the best man. Whatever the pictures end up being, they provide a fun, “let it all hang out” area for the wedding guests and a surprise for the bride and groom. Since they will likely be busy with all the reception details and having the time of THEIR lives, they might appreciate knowing their guests had a pretty good time too, as evidenced in the photos.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Do you have any creative Wedding photo ideas for a bride and groom shot?
The couple is getting married in a church and their reception is at a nice golf course. There are 8 groomsmen and 8 bridesmaids any creative photos for this large party? There are three flower girls & three ring bearers. Do you have any great ideas of unusual and creative photos of the bride & groom alone or with their Wedding party?

    • ANSWER:
My fiance was in his brothers wedding a few months ago. They took a few cool pictures. One had the groom and groomsmen holding the brides/bridesmaid flowers as if the bridesmaid were posing for the picture. Then the bridesmaid wore top hats and canes (the groomsmen didnt really wear the hats and canes, the photographer had them as props). This was cute. Another had the groom and groomsmen kneeling on the ground and the bride and bridesmaids all were leaning on them with their elbow on the groomsmen shoulders. It may be hard to visualize but they were very cute.

  2. QUESTION:
Can you help with wedding photo ideas for Chicago in December?
I’m getting married on Dec. 15th and we’re having a rough time coming up with places (both inside and outside since you never know the weather here in Chicago) to take pictures with the bridal party after the ceremony. We have some ideas, but it’d be great to hear others. Particularly if you have any experience (seen or been a part of) in winter weddings. And yes, we wouldn’t mind playing the winter/holiday theme into it. We also have about 3 hours to do it before we need to be at our hall prior to the reception. THANKS for any HELP!!!

    • ANSWER:
John Hancock Center – After 40 seconds in John Hancock’s elevator, visitors are transported many stories above Chicago. From there, the city’s third-largest building offers views that stretch out to 80 miles on a clear day. Food and drink are available in the restaurant and lounge, and informational exhibits are on display in four different languages.

Baha’i House of Worship – Beautifully manicured gardens frame this magnificent, white-stone structure, which was completed in 1953. Its soaring, 191-foot dome has an airy atmosphere, courtesy of a lacy piercework exterior. The Middle Eastern-inspired structure is one of only seven Baha’i temples in existence and the only one present in the western hemisphere. The interior is as breathtaking as the exterior, and guided tours are available on request. The temple is an active place of worship, so be mindful of others when you visit.

Chicago Board of Trade – [Due to national security concerns, the only visitors currently allowed are prearranged group tours.] The Chicago Board of Trade, the largest exchange in the world, holds court in an impressive Art Deco building. Visitors may watch the frenzied action of futures and options trading from the 5th-floor viewing center and be enlightened by guides about the seemingly-cryptic gestures used by traders. A small museum and a film offer more insight into the business of trading. While you’re there, note the rooftop aluminum statue of Ceres (Roman goddess of harvest), and look for the lovely painting of her that was once on the trading floor and now occupies a place of prominence in the atrium addition.

    Military Wedding Photo Ideas?
I have to take photos of a couple that are already married but they want some photos of him in his uniform (Army or Airforce, can’t remember which) and her in her gown. It will be just the 2 of them and I have never taken “Wedding” photos before and am not sure of the customs associated with the Military and weddings. If anyone has any ideas or info I would really appreciate it. We are going to be photographing at a huge estate that has fountains and gardens so scenery won’t be an issue. Just maybe need some pose ideas. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Don’t think of military wedding photos as if it’s something big. It’s really not that big of a deal. Just pose them, like any other couple’s photo that you have taken.

The couple are in love, it should show in the photos.

  6. QUESTION:
    Original wedding photo ideas?
We’re getting married in a month and we’re trying to come up with original ideas for some of our wedding/reception photos…any ideas???

    • ANSWER:
we had everyone from the wedding party: all the girls jump on the guys backs and took a picture that was fun. then we all held hands and jumped up in the air, the guys were holding the bouquets from the girls.
we took a few when my hubby lifted me in the air and spun me around. he also picked me up with both arms kind of like I was laid out, does that make sense.
When we did the bride with the grooms party they all picked me up so I was laying horizontal, then they threw me up in the air not far.
The girls with the groom, 2 of them gave him a kiss on his cheek and the other was standing behind him and then I was off to the side with my hands in the air like what the heck is going on here.
we did a couples picture where there was a tree in between us and we were both looking to the opposite side at each other.
These pics all came out great and it was a lot of fun.
Just have fun with them and do what comes natural.
I’m not sure what your scenery is going to be like.

  7. QUESTION:

    • ANSWER:
I don’t really understand what you’re asking for.

Are you looking for ideas of locations to do this?

Or ways you can do it right at the venue?

  8. QUESTION:
    Wedding photo ideas????
I’ve been asked to give a list of particular photos to my photographer along with the traditional ones, any ideas on random photos we could take? Such as a one I saw the other day, where all the main wedding people were stood huddled in a circle looking towards the ground and the picture was taken from underneath which looked great :D

    • ANSWER:
My favourite photo from my younger sister’s wedding is one with the wedding car… a vintage Bentley. My sister was sitting in the front seat with the door open looking at her groom who was peering into the opened engine compartment looking puzzled…

      Favourites from my own are:
on the beach with the long veil flying,
at the garden in an arch with a back view of the bride and groom with a large fern leaf coming into the picture. The veil flows like a waterfall on to the train and is just lovely.
Another favourite is bride and groom sitting on a park bench, both looking at my friend who was arranging the veil for the photo.

A fun one that was caught on video at my wedding:
bride on her own, then bride/ groom pushing the vintage Citroen. It was done in jest when the bridal car was reluctant to start in the cold misty mountain temperatures in the evening.

A photo taken by my photographer of another wedding showed a bride with her tiered veil near a multi level waterfall in a park. It looked lovely. I also really liked the photo he took of a bride and groom walking up an empty road with Mt Egmont (near perfect volcanic cone) in the background and high tension electricity wires overhead leading into the photo. If the mountain had been clear of cloud cover for my wedding we would have tried taking that one.

Have a look around the area you intend to get married… are there pools, lakes, jettys (good for reflection type photos), stairs, park benches, row boats, beaches, sailing ships, lighthouses, tall trees with big trunks, formal gardens… the list is endless of what could be added as either background or feature for wedding photos.

Another thing you could do is look up the phone book and find wedding photographers and if they have websites, look up the website and have a look at their wedding photos for ideas of what you would like for yours. I noticed that the photographers with the best website and photos also had the $$$$ prices!

There are some bridal magazines purely featuring wedding photography that can sometimes come up with good ideas. Keep an eye out for wedding photos in bridal magazines as well…

I hope something here can be of assistance to you…
Good luck and all the best with your wedding plans.

  9. QUESTION:
    Memorial wedding photo ideas…..?
I am photographer who is relatively new to the world of wedding photography and am being faced with a rather unique dilemma, so I thought i’d ask others for some advice and input.

The wedding is next weekend and the bride’s father just passed away this morning.

The original plan had been to go to the hospital to do some photos with her father, but that obviously isn’t going to happen now. I was just wondering if anyone had some ideas of other things we could do to help her feel like he’s still there and a part of this process through photos.
I understand the differences between weddings and funerals but I have to also be sensitive to the bride and groom’s feelings and requests. If they wish to incorporate the memory of her father into her special day, that is their right and my duty.

    • ANSWER:
I have seen this done before, find a great photo of the father (maybe of the father and the bride together) and frame it in an 8×10. Place it on the chair he would have had at the ceremony and then display it somewhere prominent for the reception. Also they could light a candle for him before the ceremony starts and you can take pictures of that.

I can’t believe how insensitive people are being about this. “Should postpone the wedding” “Shouldn’t have a memorial or tribute”, weddings are not funerals…

Geez people, have some compasion! A girl just lost her daddy for God’s sake! What good what it do to postpone the wedding a month, a year even? The pain of losing her father will not be gone, and will resurface on that day just as if it had happened yesterday.
People grieve in different ways, and just because you aren’t on board with the idea of a wedding with a memorial tribute, doesn’t mean you need to go dogging on people who do.
And besides, the original question was for ideas for a memorial, not critisism about doing one. If you don’t have any ideas, don’t answer the question.

  10. QUESTION:
    Funny wedding photo ideas?
I am looking for tasteful funny photos that guests can take with the disposable cameras on the tables. We are placing cards on each tables with a list of pictures to take. Thanks so much!!! :-)

    • ANSWER:
make it like a charades game…

example: the card says crab race
then the wedding guest look down their pants to indicate crabs racing.

it’s pretty funny and doesnt necessarily have to be dirty.

or if you’re using poloroaids have each person at the table determine what celebrity they most resemble. It’s a great icebreaker for the table if not everyone there knows each other.

  11. QUESTION:
More ideas for a Wedding Anniversary photo book?
I’m making a digital photo book for my parents 35th wedding anniversary. I have already done about 50 pages and want about 20 more. I have done all the regular stuff like:

    -dating
    -shower/wedding
    -new house
    -kids/grandkids
    -vacations/holidays

I want to put some more creative ideas in, like 1 page i put their chinese year signs and compatibility.

Can you think of any more to help me?

    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
What if you add special birthday or anniversary cards, from each other or from other family members to them. You can also add interesting news that happened on the year they got married, or the year their children were born. The original or copy of their marriage license. From family and close friends, invite them to submit photographs or a note with their thoughts on the occasion to include in the scrapbook.

Hope these ideas will help you.

  12. QUESTION:
Wedding rehearsal dinner photo display ideas?
I’m looking for some creative ideas for photo displays at a wedding rehearsal dinner. I’m looking for something other than the typical photo collage of the couple in their younger years. Any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
My fiance’s cousin did a big scrapbook of their lives and relationship, it was really cute and really simple so it wasn’t time consuming ( =

My friend had pictures of the two of them doing similar things at the stages of their lives in frames on each table. One table had a pic of each of them learning to ride a bike, another in their scouting uniforms, one had pics of them from their HS graduation, etc. It was cute.

      Good luck!

  13. QUESTION:
    Help With Wedding Photo Ideas?
We are having a family member (FH’s uncle) take our photos. He is a VERY good photographer, but not a professional. So, I was wondering what photos do you guys think we should have taken? Does anyone have any favourite photos/poses etc? I would like LOADS of photos, because it is a big day, afterall! But can you guys help me with ideas?

Also, I have had chat with my fiance, and we may end up doing a ‘trash the dress’ photoshoot as well. I have been looking on the internet and the water ones are beautiful, but most of them are female only. Has anyone ideas for photos for this as well?

    Thanks in advance!!

    • ANSWER:
A friend of mine just got married and she had some really sweet pics taken. Some of my favorites: a close-up of just her and her new husband’s left hands wearing the rings; her husband dipping her (like in a dance) and kissing her; the groomsmen holding the bride up in a side-lying position; the bridesmaids surrounding the groom; and the couple’s rings resting in/on one of the flowers of the bride’s bouquet (she had calla lilies). Another photo idea I’ve heard of and love is the bride and groom together under a big umbrella, if it rains on your wedding day. I’ve also seen a lot of pics of couples wrapped in the brides’ veils.
You’ll also definitely want a shot of your groom’s face when you first appear at the end of the aisle during the ceremony, and get some of your faces during the fist dance, the father-daughter dance, and the mother-son dance. These are especially cute if you’re hugging or resting your head on his shoulder.

For the “trash the dress” thing, I saw one last year of a girl who had a horse, so she did hers with her horse in the winter. If you like that idea, find someone who’ll let you ride his/her horse for a couple hours. You said you like the water idea, so you could ride the horse on a beach or in the shallow waters of a pond/lake (if you want your husband in them, have him walking next to you leading the horse! So cute!). If you have pets, you could incorporate them in a few photos. If you do it in the fall, you could surround yourself with leaves or jump/lie in a big leaf pile. If you do it in winter, make a snow angel or toss some fluffy snow in the air like confetti. If you do it in spring or summer, lie down among some wildflowers and chase some butterflies in a meadow.

Other ideas: you leaning against a big tree in the woods (with your husband holding you?), swinging on a tire swing or rope over a pond/lake, walking/lying on a beach with your husband.. If you do it in your city or neighborhood, find some local attractions to pose next to or in, like a cool sculpture, a botanical garden, an art gallery/museum, or a building with awesome architecture.

  14. QUESTION:
Fun, creative ideas for my wedding reception (photo booth or caricature artist)?
I was looking into having a photo booth or caricature artist at the wedding. Any other fun ideas you have seen?

    • ANSWER:
Polaroid camera guest/photo book. Have an attendant take someone’s picture and the person can scribble a cute message on it. When done place the reception pictures in your photo album. Perhaps hire an illusionist to do card tricks instead of playing a slide show.

  15. QUESTION:
Compiling a DVD of wedding photos, ideas for music needed?
I am compiling a DVD of my photos from my son’s wedding as a surprise for their anniversary. The wedding was a civil ceremony as neither he nor his wife are particularly religious. They got married to Aerosmith, ‘I don’t wanna miss a thing’, and played Madness ‘It must be love’ on the way out.
I want to put some music to it, but both of these are too short. Any ideas for a good piece of music about 7 minutes long?

    • ANSWER:
      Angel of Mine- Brandy
Everytime We Touch Slow Mix by Cascada
Even When Im Sleeping- Leonardos Bride
      Sexy Love- Neyo
      Truly Madly Deeply- Savage Garden
      In Your Eyes- Ben Harper
      Yellow- Coldplay
      My Happiness- Powderfinger
In The Arms of An Angel- Sarah McLaughlin
      With you- Chris Brown
      Umbrella- Rihanna
I don’t know how suitable they all are, everyone likes different things, but some of these are really nice songs

  16. QUESTION:
    Unique wedding photo poses/ideas?
My husband and I recently started an event photography business…While we know all the “standard” photos everyone wants, and have a few creative ideas of our own, we are looking for fun and different ideas to expand our portfolio. Anyone have some really great shots from their wedding that were either posed or unposed in a unique or different way?

    Thanks!
    www.memorable-moments-imaging.com

    • ANSWER:
First off, I guess you are looking for constructive criticism. I had a look at your website. Make the “portfolio” on the main menu or first page, so people dont have to search for it. People look for examples of your work before they even look for your rates or what youre all about.
Also, I would focus more on photojournalistic styles. Brides put a lot of planning into their day, and they like to see elegant photos of the details of the wedding, as well as spontaneous photos of guests.

  17. QUESTION:
We´re putting together our wedding photo album/scrapbook. Any ideas for things other than photos?

  19. QUESTION:
I’m looking for unconventional ideas for wedding photos with family members?
I’m photographing a wedding and the bride doesn’t want everyone lined up for photos with the family. I agree they are stuffy but what are the pther options? I’m usually pretty good with coming up with new ideas but I’m stumped with this one!

    • ANSWER:
Here is my experience with the natural “unposed” look.

The prints that sell in albums or wall hangers are the more traditional poses. The “far out” stuff is fun, but the parents don’t like them much and there is the complaint that there’s nothing to frame for the wall. So go ahead and let your creative juice flow, but make sure to get a few traditional formals to go along with the pj shots. (BTW, traditional does not have to mean stuffy and stilted lineups. You can pose people in a more relaxed manner than the ones standing at attention in your Mom’s album)

Surf the wedding websites for some ideas, and look in the big wedding mags to see shots with a trendy feel.

Also, don’t forget that moving locations and setting up unfamiliar poses are time consuming. Make sure the bride knows this and wants to budget the extra time.

  21. QUESTION:
Ideas for 40th wedding anniversary and also for my sister’s wedding photos?
I’m planning a 40th wedding anniversary party for my parents with no help from my brother and sister. It will be in June this year. I need help with it. I would to do scrapbooking or something with some my sister’s wedding photo but don’t what to do with them. Could some one help me please? I got some ideas but I need more.

    • ANSWER:
you should have a dinner party for them and have it be a 1940s theme or 60′s since that is when they got married. as table cards/programs you can have funny and historical facts about the year they were married. also have friends and family bring a photo/copy of a photo of them with or without your parents- then have a book at the dinner where you can paste the photo and a special memory message from the guest. then at the end of the night, you can present it to your parents. OR have people send the photo and message before hand and make a slide show. You’ll have to have self addressed envelopes for that, but they’ll love it!

  22. QUESTION:
Ideas for a photo themed wedding?
I am thinking about having a photo themed wedding, and am looking for some ideas that go with it. A few that I have include a cake with pictures (3 tiers), a centerpiece that involves pictures, a special kind of guest book that includes pictures of each guest as they enter. So if you have any ideas, please let me know.

    Thanks!!

    • ANSWER:
If its would fit in your wedding budget, a photo booth would be so perfect for your wedding. They are so much fun and can be incorporated into your guest book. Have your guests take photos in the booth, they keep half of the pictures (as their wedding favor) and the other half get put into a guest book where they can sign beside their pictures. For example, if it prints a strip of six photos with 3 on each side, the strip would just be cut in half. I would recommend a booth company that provides unlimited pictures and offers both black & white and color – the B&W look really vintage and interesting. To find a company, just go to yahoo and type in “photo booth rentals in (your area)” and you should get lots of options. Shop around a little to find the best options at the best prices.

Best wishes, I hope your day is wonderful!

  26. QUESTION:
    Adventure themed wedding ideas?
I want my wedding to have an “adventure” theme.
Myself and my fiance both love nature and the outdoors and I think it would be very fitting and fun for us.

    Ideas so far:
    wedding flowers – wildflowers
Invitations would include a “treasure map” of the locations
Stars projected or hanging from the ceiling at the reception
Wedding photo album would be “our adventure book”, similar to the one in the movie “UP”

and then I’m stuck. Does anyone have some suggestions on how I can incorporate an adventure theme into my wedding?

Thanks for any suggestions, they are appreciated!

    • ANSWER:
I am usually very against “theme” weddings, but I actually like this one. Just be careful, don’t let it look cheesy like a kids birthday party. All of the ideas you have so far are great, leave the movie “UP” out of it other than the adventure book.

I think centerpieces are another way you could incorporate the theme, in a mature way. Try getting globes (i’ve seen some at Marshals and TJMAXX for – depending on size) or glass lanterns, and surround them with some simple flowers instead of doing the traditional “flowers in a vase” thing.

Have a nice, classy (and probably small), leather or dark wood chest (also available at those stores) with a slit in the top on the present table, for cards and gift certificates instead of the typical fabric box. This is your “treasure” box.

For your guest book, you could have a map instead of a book, and people can decide where to sign. Somewhere they’ve been, somewhere they want to go, where they live, etc. I’ve seen this done with calendars, where people sign on whatever date has some meaning to them. A map is more in line with your theme.

  27. QUESTION:
Ideas for a photo / photography themed wedding?
I am thinking about having a “photo” themed wedding since both of us are photographers. What are some great ideas to encorporate into the event? Invitations, save the date, decorations, favors, anything really????

    • ANSWER:
You could have a groom’s cake that is shaped like a camera.

You could also get those thicker acrylic circles that are an inch or two wide (i think you can buy them with small holes in them) and tie them on clear string, spacing them apart. It could look like glass lenses? Sorry trying to get really creative here!

Maybe your colors could be black and silver? It would compliment any decorations nicely.

      Good luck!

  28. QUESTION:

  29. QUESTION:
Did you have a DIY Wedding? Photos, Ideas?
I am wondering if you guys did a “diy” wedding. Do you have photos or any ideas? I really don’t want to spend too much on the wedding and think “diy” would really make it a personal affair.

    • ANSWER:
there are some things i’m going the diy route. Like the invitations I just felt like it was ridiculous to spend 0-0 dollars on pocket invitations. So i bought my kit in this website

      http://www.invitationpaper.com/products.html

and printed them myself and paid a total of about 0 dollars for all invitations. So i save about 0-0 dollars on that alone.
I have an aunt who has done bouquets for weddings before and she offered to do our bouquets for my wedding. When i went to a florist she told me I would have to pay 5 dollars for my bouquet and dollars for the bridesmaids bouquets (6 bridesmaids) that was a total of about 0 and all we have to do is buy our roses ourselves and my aunt is doing them. that will be about 0-0 dollars for the flowers we have to buy. so once again saving about 0.
For our centerpieces we are doing these

      wedding centerpieces

I am buying the flowers wholesale in this website

      http://www.wholesale-wedding-flowers.com/

Flowers for these centerpieces for 14 of them will be about 0.
When i went to a florist she told me that I would have to pay 0 for each one. (This price is purely for the flowers and labor because i already bought these vases on my own).
that itself would have been over 00. Our friend who’s going to set the hall for us is going to be doing our centerpieces and she’s charging us 0 for everything that includes the centerpieces and setting the hall.
I won’t be doing anything else by myself. For food we got a caterer which thankfully an aunt of mine owns a catering company, so the price will be great but still a complete catered sit down dinner.
We hired a professional photographer and bartenders and waiters.
So i will still be able to have my wedding the way i want with our personal touches but still very classy and elegant.
I wouldn’t have it any other way.

What are some good 25th wedding anniversary gift ideas for my parents?
I don’t want something like a gift basket or regular things like that. I was thinking something along the lines of using a wedding photo and putting that into some kind of gift. What gift can I give that might incorporate my parents’ wedding photo in it? And something better than a coffee mug or t-shirt.
    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
You could put together a collage of photos from the last 25 years, incorporate headlines from the papers, pictures of album covers they loved and other pictures that are very personal to them.

You could also put this in a scrapbook with a separate page for each year.

Silver frames also are very appropriate for the 25th anniversary.

Have the wedding photo digitally enhanced and have it printed on canvas.

  36. QUESTION:
Creative Wedding Photo Poses!!! need LOTS of ideas!?
Me and my fiance are getting married next week. its a small elopement ceremony but we have hired a professional photographer to take our pictures. we wont have much to take picture of since we dont have a church or cake cutting or toasting etc…SO we need some cute picture posing ideas for the bride and groom and also the family included.
those that will be there are:
    The Bride (me)
    The Groom
The Brides close big brother/best man
    The Brides Mother
    The Brides Father
and possibly one male guest (a friend of the Bride and Groom)
the ceremony will be outside in the courtyard of a nice restaurant in New Orleans LA. feel free to include any prop ideas with your suggestions…something easy to buy in a local store, like sunglasses.
we want to have some romantic but funny photos of us together..along with the family. like a picture of the Bride and the Brides older brother being goofy together, or looking like were arguing with our hands on our hips and pouted lips..LOL
Romantic pictures would be appreciated too!!!
    THANKS GUYS!
if you have any links to pictures that show what you suggest please include them!

    • ANSWER:
For bride and groom we took so many poses, we replicated the beatles walking across a street. by far one of my favorite pictures, he picked me up in his arms while standing so he was carrying me. For fun but sitting down because I am not as strong him on my lap, both of us laying down on our stomachs facing the camera, another laying down holding hands, another really sweet one was him kissing my forehead, the piggyback pose, back to back (we went utterly silly and tried to think of our favorite movie posters), the photographers will really help, be able to be comfortable and act a little silly together you will forget your on camera and those candid photos will be gorgeous. Our family poses were pretty standard except for the walking across the street but I think acting goofy with your brother will be great, we had a really great candid of dh and his brothers as well as mine just laughing. I think poses can be hard to plan its so much easier to go with the flow and find what you are comfortable with, Congratulations!

  37. QUESTION:
I have a wedding party of 20! any photo ideas?

    • ANSWER:
The photographer would be the best to ask. they would know a lot of options. find a tired place like stairs so you can fit everyone. See if the photographer can get up someplace high like a roof and get a shot from above. then just break to groups up and do other pics!

  38. QUESTION:
Ideas needed for wedding photos, giving disposable cameras to children?
We’re getting married next week and we’ve put cheap disposable cameras into the childrens activity packs with a list of photos to get.

So far we’ve got; a picture of the best dancer, the biggest hat, parents dancing, the highest heels, groom without a drink, bride dancing, bride/groom eating wedding cake etc.

Anyone have any other suggestions for photos a child could take?
We know we’ll get more pictures of the floor and ceiling than of people, but the idea is more to give the children a ‘mission’ to keep them occupied. So the more challenging the better.

    • ANSWER:
A relative you never knew you had.
      A group of people laughing/smiling.
      Someone holding flowers
      Another child dancing.
      A couple holding hands.
      A couple kissing.
yourself (as in the child/a photo of themselves).

I think what you are doing is a really good idea, wish i had thought of it for my wedding, hope it all goes well.

  39. QUESTION:
I am looking for an Irish themed wedding photo album. Does anyone have any cool ideas?
We just (finally) ordered our wedding pictures from our wedding in May. We decided against using our photographers wedding albums because the albums themselves were boring (my wife’s thoughts not necessarily mine). One thing I think might be cool is to get a nice Irish themed wedding photo album, but I’m having trouble finding anything like that. Does anyone know at least where I could find some cool wedding photo albums (professional quality) for a good price? I am unfortunately unsure how many pictures we ordered, but I know we ordered a bunch (my wife handled a lot of this). I think it’s at least 300 pictures though (so a pretty big book).

Thanks, I’d appreciate any help especially with my rather vague question.

    • ANSWER:
I would suggest a scrap-book like this site offers:

      http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat2607

Jo-ann’s carries hundreds of “scrap-book” ideas, but that is just a glorified photo album, I thought being the man of the house you may not be familiar with this place.

Be forewarned that you may have to go to your local Jo-Ann Fabrics store to find these. I have a friend who gets huge photo albums there, but “scrap-booking” allows you to decorate every page if you wish with little do-dads and fun “reminders” of the wedding.

The store also has a bunch of filler pages if you need extra, and tons of ideas/people who can help you find this when you go in.

If there is no jo-ann’s near-by then perhaps you can find something online.

I would say this is the best place for albums that I’ve ever found.

However, in searching specifically for you I found:

      http://www.irishvictorian.com/albums/index.html

perhaps it’s more for you! :) Good luck!

  40. QUESTION:
Looking for ideas for my wedding theme?
Me and my fiance are getting married next year and as he’s a barman since he was 17, i wanted to bring that in as sort of a theme in the wedding. I’ve already thought of naming the tables at the reception after types of drinks, and we’re also getting a few wedding photos taken in his pub. Can anyone else think of other ideas of how I could bring the pub theme into the wedding without it coming off wierd and common looking????

Does anyone know where to get wedding photos touched up by photoshop program? Looking for ideas!!!?
I am working with a photographer and I need more ideas of digital photoshop photos and portraits. We know the basics picture in picture and making some things color in a b/w pic. I just need more ideas and all I can find are photographers.
Send me info or suggestions to arwalke@hotmail.com

    • ANSWER:
      The optons are absolutely endless.

There is the basic B&W, sepia and individual color selection.

You can create a vignette (fadded edges) look.
You can adjust the levels to create a saturated color look (say blue).
You can blow the contrast in your basic B&W for a high profile style image.
You can blur various selections of the image.
You can use a blur filter to give a soft focus feel.
You can add fine art frames to it.
With plugins you can create shattered images.
You can create double takes (overlapping images)
      You can create various edges.

The list goes on. If you want more details, email me (chris@wise-photos.net) and I’ll give you more.

  42. QUESTION:
What would be a good idea for a 25th anniversary gift that involves engagement photo wedding invitation and?
a recent photo of them i was thinking about like the invitation in the middle and it all be framed but i need some ideas i want it to be special and unique please help????

    • ANSWER:
You could do a trifold picture frame.
It is all in the matting for the pics and the invitation. Do some research, and see what you might like, and consider getting it done professionally.
There used to be 2 frame shops here is town, they are both long gone, all we have close is Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. Give them both a visit, and wait for coupons, Michael’s has sales on framing a lot. sign up for their e-mails.
And both craft stores sell frames and matting for you to do that yourself.
Perhaps choose the frame about where they got married, or the style of the wedding. did they get married by the beach for example, or live by one now. Do the frames in a beach theme.

  43. QUESTION:
Anyone have any good ideas for posing for wedding photos?
Hey everyone! Thanks for looking at my question!

I was hoping you all could please help me with some ideas for posing for my wedding photos. I already got the basic list of all the traditionals with the wedding party, Bride and Groom, Parents, Siblings and so on. But what I am looking for is the more unique ones. You know the ones that people look at and say “Wow, that’s a cool picture!” I am also very interested in funny or silly ones.

Please don’t tell me about the ones where we show our legs, or the groomsmen wear a garter, or the bridesmaids with the groom, or where I lay across the groomsmen as they hold me sideways and same for the groom. Personally, I think that is the stupidest pose ever! (sorry)

One I did find that I thought was amazing and cute was the Bride and Groom Kissing with all the Bridesmaids pulling the bride and all the Groomsmen pulling the Groom to try to separate them. That is the kind of ideas I am looking for.

I have also seen one where there is a close up of the Brides bouquet in the bottom corner of the pic with the Bride and Groom kissing in the background and the sun right behind them making that glare.

Actually not only am I looking for verbal ideas, but I am also having trouble just finding a great photo gallery of ideas and examples! So if anyone can help with ideas or if you know of a great site that shows a TON of different ideas, I would really appreciate it!

    Thanks so much in advance!!!
Okay, so I am not looking for someone to tell me what to do. lol… we are doing the photos BEFORE the ceremony event begins as I have also been to many wedding where you sit for an hour waiting. Okay? Also, we don’t have a prefessional photographer. It’s a family friend who is currently going to school for is and has a very very expensive camera. He takes wonderful pics and he wanted a list from me with what I want.

    • ANSWER:
I’m a photographer so choosing a wedding photographer was really tough. We went with a couple that uses the photojournalism approach. This means they let us act naturally and go about our fun day and they just take pictures…candid. We scheduled a visit to the old outdoor Dairy Queen on the street I grew up between the ceremony and reception. The wedding party is all getting ice cream cone vouchers and the photographers are going to just take pictures as this little trip unfolds. It is also across the street from the main park in town with a fountain, gazebo, band shell, and playground…the buildings around there in the “downtown” area are all old fashioned with the classic neon signs dating from 1940-1960.

I recommend finding a unique little place you can visit with your wedding party that can provide a backdrop for candid photos. I hope this helps.

Here is the website for our photographers…you might get some ideas:

trying to locate a photo booth in Mass area to rent for a 2 hrs at my wedding reception ideas anyone? PLEASE!?
We want to do a really cool scrap book where there’s a photo booth next to it where our guests can go in and act goofy or however they want with out feeling stupid about some guy with a camera they don’t know taking there picture. I think this is the best way to go. For our guest book. I’m just wondering if anyone out there knows where I can go to rent one. If anyone has any ideas PLEASE, PLEASE let me know!!!

    Thank you so much!

    • ANSWER:
The first site I attached doesn’t say where they are located but it might help point you in the right direction. The second site I had the same problem with. The 3rd site does service Mass. and I believe they rent photo booths. Good luck, I hope these sites help! Like I said earlier if they don’t pan out for your area maybe they can help you locate someone that can help.

Oh, one more idea. If you know of a photo booth near you, go visit it. See if it has any company or distributor name on it that you can contact. They may rent one directly to you. If you don’t find anything on the machine you can ask the store manager where the booth is located where they got their machine from and then contact them that way! =)

  46. QUESTION:

I am getting married in august and have got loads of quotes from photographers for my weddding, they are charging £1200! I dont really wwant to pay that much and was thinking about having one of them photo books done. I have been looking around at a few sites, but i would like somewhere that prints the hole book as im getting abit condused on weither the sits im looking at actually prints them! Anyone any ideas?

    • ANSWER:
      ooo, ooo!! Picaboo.com.

Its awesome! I looked into ALL of them to have one made of my son, and picaboo has something you can download and has SO many more options for layouts, and colors, and photo tools and you can totally design it yourself. It’s really fantastic. They have samples of wedding books you can look at too. You can also have it made into a flushmount book(about 0, don’t know how that translates),but it’s so professional looking for a wedding album!

  47. QUESTION:
Anyone have any original wedding reception ideas I could present as a gift?
I really want to get my sister and her fiance’ a great gift for their wedding- something that they will be surprised to find at their reception!
Just to give you an idea of what i’m looking for–I looked into getting a photo booth because I’ve been to a wedding that had one and it was sooo fun! But they’re too expensive for me. I want something fun and original and reasonably priced.
    Thanks for the help!

    • ANSWER:
My SIL paid for our DJ. I knew in advance, but I appreciated it so much. It really meant a lot to me that she wanted to contribute in that way and it made our reception so much more fun. Either that, or you could hire someone (a friend maybe?) to sit at the door and take different polaroids of everyone and then make them a scrapbook? Or get a large photo matte, set it up and have all the guests sign it. Then they can use it to frame a picture later.

  49. QUESTION:
What are some good ideas for props for wedding photos?

    • ANSWER:
      Beautiful flowering gardens
      Beaches with surf coming in
      Mountains covered in snow.
      Naturally beautiful scenery
      Waterfalls
      Lakes,
      boats,
      vintage cars
      horses
      old fences and gates
      old rustic pioneer buildings
      carts, cart wheels
trees that are unusual in shape or colour
      park benches
      wharves, jetty, bridges
      mirror ponds like at memorials
      arches of roses, pergola framework

Your imagination is the only limit… only thing to consider is… is the backdrop too busy?

Some of our garden wedding photos were taken in a memorial rose garden “room” that had so many roses, rhododendrons, shrubs, colours and textures that I dont like the photos as the background almost over powers the bridal couple. The photos are better in black and white.

Also to be considered is shaddow effects.
Dapled sunlight filtering through trees is very difficult to photograph in.
We had some lovely photos done under the trees, but the faces are in heavy shade which spoils the photo.

The photos I love the best were taken in the formal rose garden and down at the black sand beach.

  50. QUESTION:
I need to find a wedding photo album to put my pictures in. Any idea of where to buy one?
I don’t want a professionally printed one, I am needing one that I can slide pictures in.

    • ANSWER:
You can get those just about anywhere – I actually found mine at a dollar store – it was my exact wedding colors and matched so perfectly I bought two! :)

So, check Wal-Mart, Target, dollar stores, craft stores, etc.
